      To Red Oscar: Good looking out for your sister and I bid you and her the best.
      Keep binge-watching these videos to perspectively retain every insurance nuances and parlance possible. ----------¶------- There is also a timeline aspect of life where the "Medicare young" are ready to roll, but need to consider possible -- and inevitable rocky outcomes down the road. She may not want to over-insure now -- when she may need to "premium splurge" later.

      She is lieing about some of the things . I have a medicare advantage plan. And love it. No copay for pcp. 20.00 copay for specialist authorizations for surgical plus other procedures is true but not to cut costs. That is a lie. Authorizations are yo determine medically necessity. I previously had a plan that did not require authorizations. And doctors wete do all kinds of weird things that fid nothing for me except take my money. Authorizations prevent that. I have not had any procedure denied znd not authorized. I am also a retired medical insurance claims examiner so i know what I am talking about. Medicare advantage plans are great

      Most of the HMO plans no longer require referrals to see specialists for 2021. They’ve definitely come a long way with the plans. Of course a Medicare supplement policy is ideal if they can afford it.

      An Advantage plan would be more attractive if the MOOP was less. Say around 1/2 of what it is presently at.

    • @9929kingfish
      @9929kingfish 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are the next best option if a supplement plan is not possible. Folks who are healthy and don’t have a lot of medical needs benefit more financially than those who use their plan frequently and have to undergo procedures, hospitalizations, and frequent doctors visits. Also, if you get cancer, your treatment options can be limited by the approval of the advantage company and most in house chemotherapy infusions you will pay %20 which can be financially devastating for some.

    • @youngtimer964

    The reason why I didn't choose MA plan was because it reminded so much the HMO and PPO plans that were options when I was working. The fact that you need to ask for approval on virtually everything looked annoying. In Oklahoma your limted to the counties you live in. There were no 'National" plan coverages. So if you don't like to travel, in my state, this may work for you. Secondly, when I was working full-time, the 80/20 plan Major Medical deductibles gradually increased over time. That's why I wouldn't take a MA for anything. I am have very happy with my traditional medicare plan. Also traditional medicare saved me alot of money compared to the retiree plan my past employer offered. It was a "community" plan where everyone that joined had the same monthly premium minus vision, dental, and life insurance....double the premium I am curretly paying. It was worth it to ask alot of questions and do research. Like they say, there's no free lunch. Stephanie your the BEST!!

    All very interesting but she leaves out the most important fact (at least to me). If you sign up for Medicare advantage for two years (1+1) and at the third year decide you want to go back to Medicare, it’s not that easy. Medicare will almost with certainty have you go through their underwriting process to see if they want to readmit you. They don’t have to readmit you. They will do a deep dive into your medical history and if they don’t like what they see, you can be denied re admittance or have your rate raised to a point where it doesn’t make sense for you to come back in. Just like any other insurance company. Then, if you have major health problems in your future, get denied re-admittance back in to Medicare and have to go back to another “advantage plan” the “no cap” out of pocket costs loom large. Congress is talking about capping OPC in 2025, but who knows how high that cap will be or even if they’ll do it? I have never heard an insurance agent discuss this VERY important point. Should be mandatory disclosure. Shame on you Joe Namath! 😮

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency
      @AbtInsuranceAgency  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can always go back to Traditional Medicare. Underwriting is involved if you wish to go to a Medigap/Medicare supplement plan with traditional Medicare down the road, and i cover that in much depth in my other videos. th-cam.com/video/6EDXHe2IKXw/w-d-xo.html
      An excellent point though!

    @jbone79 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi - is CA a popular state for medicare advantage? Also I am wondering what the main selling point is for a Medicare advantage plan vs a regular Medicare plan. Why would someone want to switch? The minute I heard these are managed by private health ins companies was a sucker punch. I'm a 42 old who recently has had some health issues and getting United health care to approve much needed services has been a nightmare. Also my girlfriend has had issues too. Both of us have corporate plans and we gave had to pay out of pocket for services that should be covered under our plan, like CT scans and other type tests that out drs have issued as well as appealed, and still no approvals and we had to pay out of pocket. It was an eye opening and costly experience. The reason I would like to know what the main value is to getting an advantage plan is due to me looking at getting into the business. Would hate for a senior to get an advantage plan and get need services denied by the private ins company managing the plan, same thing that happens to me. Thanks in advance. For your reply.

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency

      For some people and Advantage Plan can be a hood fit. It depends on your needs and your budget. In any case, it’s important to understand the ins and outs of all of your Medicare plan options. A good independent broker will generally represent multiple plan types and options.

      I know this is late. Generally the MOOP is what ever is left over after copays. Many stand alone Part D plans have a deductible for certain tiers. Essentially, whatever is left after the deductibles gets added to the MOOP. Once you reach that, services are 100 percent covered for the remaining year

      Yes Advantage plans have a maximum out of pocket. I wouldn't want a plan that didn't have a cap. This means you could go bankrupt paying your share of cost. Kind of like Original Medicare which has no limit on out of pocket costs. So that 20% could be 20% of 500.00 or 20% of 50,000.00.

    Hello Stephanie, when helping Seniors, are Seniors notified a) that the Original Medicare is NO LONGER in effect if the Senior opts into that PART C / Medicare Advantage Plan? b) that the Max Out of pocket seems safe YET that providers are significantly limited? c) the HMO requires in-Network & Referrals to Specialists? ✨✨✨I know a current Senior who is desiring cancer treatment & chemo. She’s not yet “approved for service” a full 120 days after diagnosis. This is an ETHICAL issue.✨✨✨ All for a $0.00 / month Premium #MedicareAdvantagePlans

      Oh, yes. We warn our clients about ALL of the potential risks and downsides of Medicare Advantage, and we always present them with both options (Medicare Advantage versus Original Medicare + Medigap).

    You are not telling the full truth. $6,000 is a very high out of pocket. I have medicare advantage and my out of pocket max is no were near $6,000. Pcp with no copay. Specialist $20 copay. Authorizations are to make sure certain procedures are medically necessary. It is not to cut benefits. That is a lie. No procedure that i have had done has been denied. Doctor sometimes do things that make no sense and it’s not medically necessary which I have noticed before I went to an HMO. These doctors did a bunch of weird stuff that wasn’t needed to me so don’t tell people that it’s to cut expenses because that’s not true they’re gonna do a bunch of weird stuff. Just get more money out of you.

    Here's a pro tip Stephanie... Choose your surroundings when recording a video. The acoustics are terrible. Sounds like you're in a bathroom!

      @@AbtInsuranceAgency Understandable. After a year of broadcasting from home due to covid, I still see network journalists that have terrible acoustics! That's unforgivable in 2021! You look great in any case! 😊
