Great information! My husband and I just turned 60. And like many people, assumed Medicare was “Free”! Boy was I surprised to find out what it actually covers. $1600 deductible before it even starts to pay for in patient care. And no AOOP maximum!!! Very discouraging information. I have friends and family who worked in the Public Sector and they have these incredible health insurance plans the Private Sector would die for 🤦🏻♀️ Who knew Medical Insurance would sky rocket like it did in the past 15 years. I am confused regarding Medicare Part B. I read that you will be penalized if you sign up for Part B after you turn 65. I believe I read there is a 10% increase paid for every year past turning 65. Fortunately, I have a good 4 years to prepare for the best insurance plan for our needs. Thanks again for sharing!
When you turn 65 you will need to either enroll in Medicare or have creditable group coverage through your or your spouses employment. Creditable coverage is health insurance with employers who have at least 20 employees. That coverage is seldom better than or lower cost than Medicare and a supplement. I think you might like this video: medigapseminars.org/medicare-maximum-out-of-pocket/

Everywhere in the US you can change Medicare supplement Plans any day of the year, 365-days a year as long as you qualify medically. In California you have a Birthday Rule that allows you to change to a like plan or lesser coverage without underwriting in the 90-days around your birthday. medigapseminars.org/contact-us/

Thank you for the video. I am ready to apply for a supplement. I knew nothing about this but your information made understanding the process and choice easy.
I currently have tricare overseas as my main insurer, when i turn 65 i believe i will take original medicare parts A and B mainly because i can keep tricare overseas while overseas and tricare says so. I have enough VA to use them for my drug care and keep those cost down, besides you said before that no supplemental plan will beat tricare
Would you please do a video comparing plan N and high deductible plan G. I'm having a hard time deciding between them. Plan G premiums are out of my price range.
I have: medigapseminars.org/medicare-high-deductible-plan-g-and-plan-f-updates/ It shows how you use the Part A deductible to evaluate the HD vs Plan N (full coverage). By the way, the HD plan is very vulnerable to inflation Call us, we can walk you through the analysis. 800-847-9680
I have watched your show for years and have gathered great information from it. ONE important question/comment: My plan N is priced by where I live. Do I have to re-qualify if I move and want to stay with the same insurance company? If so, how does this help me 25 years from now?
Your Medicare supplement is your as long as you pay the premium. No one can take it away from you or change the benefits. It’s good everywhere in the US
Still working and not ready to retire completely..., but I am appreciative of all this information!!! I am definitely wiser on my choice's and understanding of it! Thank you!!
Awesome content. One important suggestion. I've looked a quite a few group Medicare Advantage plan benefit summaries. A large number of these plans include no or low prescription deductible and coverage through the gap. People leave these plans thinking that the individual "street" plans are the same. This can result in several thousand dollars more out of pocket. Also, the amount you pay for Part D drugs does not count towards your Maximum Out of Pocket.
You are correct about the max out of pocket. Part D is separate and has no maximum at this time. But the Part D experience varies greatly depending on the plan and geographic region. A Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan (MAPD) is simply a Medicare Advantage Plan a with a bundled but separate Part D. I have the ability to pull up Stand Alone Part D plans and compare them to drug plans bundled with Part D - everywhere in the US. I find on average they are the same. There are specific situations that can impact the prices one way or another, but on average the same. They are required to be, by law.
I have Medicare advantage plan for three years now and I haven’t had any problems at all! I have no copay with my MD visits and most of my prescribed prescriptions are covered without copay! The only prescription drug I need copay is Farxiga! My question is I have Tricare for life and where does it fit in when I need it? Thanks!
You should NOT have a Medicare Advantage Plan with Tricare For Life. PLEASE watch this video - someone did you wrong. th-cam.com/video/AWVDpE4CqNI/w-d-xo.html
I really appreciate your videos. Question -you mention “While an inpatient in a hospital, Medicare Part A covers your semi-private room, medications, nursing care, durable equipment and most physician services.” We are considering Medigap Plan N-concerned about excess charges from physician services while an inpatient. Can any physician visits/services be coded under Medicare Part B while I am an inpatient?
Physician services of resident doctors and other medical employees of the hospital can be covered by Part A. Other doctor services can be billed as Part B. If you are concerned about Excess Charges you need to my recent video "Excess Charges R Dead!" th-cam.com/video/eh_RFjGpVo4/w-d-xo.html
Something that's really needed is more data about medicare advantage and supplemental plans. 1. Agents 1.a. How are they paid? 1.b. How much are they paid? 1.c. Who pays them? 2. Doctors, Hospitals and other providers 2.a. How are they paid? 2.b. How much are they paid? 2.c. Who pays them? 3. Supplement Plans 3.a. How are they paid? 3.b. How much are they paid? 3.c. Who pays them? 3.d. How are rate increases determined? 3.e. What regulates rate increases? 4. Advantage Plans 4.a. How are they paid? 4.b. How much are they paid? 4.c. Who pays them? 4.d. What are they negotiating when they create networks? Agreement to abide to pre-authorization? Lower fees? 4.e. How much control do they actually have i.e. could they not authorize a life saving procedure? If not, what regulates them. 4.f. How often do pre-authorization denials actually occur? Are there any regulations? This would be a good start to lifting the veil. All the complications seem to be present to give insurance providers the means to charge more.
If you do not want a supplement, simply apply for a stand alone Part D plan partdshopper.com/ and Medicare will notify your Advantage plan not to renew. If you want a supplement, medigapseminars.org/contact-us/ let us help you apply and make certain you are approved first, before canceling your Advantage plan
Hi Roger. Think of it this way; supplement Plan G and Plan N do not have a deductible. They simply do not insure you against the Medicare Part B deductible. So with those supplements ( and all but the Medigap Plan F and Plan C) you will be obligated to pay the Part B deductible. I hope that helps. :-) If so, please like this comment. You can also call my office. We will help - at no cost. 800-847-9680
Also if you have advantage plans does it mean you still have to get supplemental plan like ke F or G or N? And if you have Tricare for life do you still have to get those supplemental plans? It’s never addressed to all those TH-cam seminars as you guys call it!
@@gloriataruc8371 You cannot have both a supplemental plan (F, G or N) and an Advantage plan at the same time. You have to pick either one or the other. If you have Tricare for Life you do not need to have any supplement plan.
Hi Matthew. Another great video. I plan to contact your company in a few months. A suggestion on your video presentation. Skip the 2nd camera view. It adds nothing. I personally find it distracting. Too much switching back and forth. Using one camera will also make your editing process easier. Look me in the eye when you're talking to me. :)
Noted! Unfortunately, it increases the time people watch the video. Most people get bored easily when the are just looking at a talking head that doesn't move.
When I retired, I chose a supplement plan but just last year I switch to the advantage plan, and I truly hate it. Can I go back to the supplement plan or choose a new supplement plan?
I think that you have 12 months to decide to go back to your supplement plan. You need to hurry and reapply back to your supplemental plan if it’s been under 12 months. That’s what I read, you should verify this by calling your supplemental plan that you had before. Or call a trusted broker.
I'm 63 and starting my Medicare research now. Would you be able to provide guidance at my age? I have less than two years before I make a decision. I am concerned I won't pick the right plan for myself
Still don’t understand Medicare and all the Medical Insurances! This is the situations ! I thought I don’t pay Medicare premiums, since became 65 because I’m insured under Federal Government paying premiums and I’m insured partially under spouse Tricare for Life for retired Army n partially insured under myself VA! What is the correct coverage! We inquired both sides, Medicare, Tricare VA n HMSA…No One really able to explained clearly. Which is correct insurance n premiums I should be paying! Instead of paying double … Thank you
HI MATT really enjoy watching you. What insurance company is BETTER and doesn't gouge you after a year in Premiums FOR NEVADA?? AETNA OR UNITED HEALTH INSURANCE
It is available if you were eligible for Medicare prior to 2020. But is is not a good value. Plan G voers everything except the Part B deductible ($233) but is $300 to $600 less per year.
Because that's the rule. Your Part B is no longer active, but the premium is paid so that if you quit the Advantage Plan, your Part B starts immediately and seamlessly.
If your Part A is already paid for through previous payroll taxes, there is no late enrollment penalty. you own it. If you end up in a hospital after your initial enrollment period , you can enroll in Part A and it will start 6-months retroactive in order to cover all your inpatient bills.
For some people budget has to be the primary consideration because they can’t come up with the monthly payment. If they do have medical expenses they can often pay them off slowly with payment plans. I know quite a few people in this category. I also know a number of people who didn’t know about supplement plans before signing up for a MA plan. I know one person who is planning on signing up for employee retirement insurance because the the prescription drug plan is much much better.
Your information seems , objective, honest and to the point, thanks 🙏. My question is that although my husband had traditionalMedicare and supplementary from my job (from NY), many doctors here claimed that they didn’t get paid by the supplemental insurance. So we ended up paying the 20% anyway. My beloved passed away recently, but I am almost 65, and feel tempted to join a Medicare Advantage.
Every person and entity I know that pushes Advantage plans does so for $. There is a lot of money in Advantage plans. Government pays the Advantage more than they they need ---> Advantage Plans use the excess to bonus agents, doctors, and lobby government officials ---> who then promote Advantage Plans
This is all silly because neither the healthcare provider, the insurance provider, or these training videos will give you a real number to base your decision on. i.e.: BCBS typically send me a statement saying they paid the doctor $170 for a visit, and my copay is $30. Why can't anyone on thois planet tell me how this compares to what Medicare will pay?
Absolutely valuable information that is so needed by so many. Thanks

Thank you for the video. I am ready to apply for a supplement. I knew nothing about this but your information made understanding the process and choice easy.
Thank you. A person can never have to much info.
Thank you for your very clear and honest explanation of this complicated topic. I want to ask this “ Is the medigap covers also plan A?
I am focusing on group Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage. Part D is not separate, hence the MAPD designation.
Thank you very much 😊
But I'm still a little confused, I will lesson again..!!
It might help to watch the sister video to this that compliments the current video: medigapseminars.org/medicare-explained/
1. Agents
1.a. How are they paid?
1.b. How much are they paid?
1.c. Who pays them?
2. Doctors, Hospitals and other providers
2.a. How are they paid?
2.b. How much are they paid?
2.c. Who pays them?
3. Supplement Plans
3.a. How are they paid?
3.b. How much are they paid?
3.c. Who pays them?
3.d. How are rate increases determined?
3.e. What regulates rate increases?
4. Advantage Plans
What is my monthly payment if I add Part G + dentist and drugs?
I want to cancel my Medicare Advantage plan and use my Original Medicare. How to do it.
I am confused on the Supplement Plan deductible , is that the same as Medicare Part B deductible?
The 2022 IG Report link links to the same 2018 IG Report as the 2018 IG Report link, not the 2022 IG Report..
Thanks. I can fix that tomorrow. In the meantime you can find both here: medigapseminars.org/resources/
What 2 states are excluded from this?
Can you be more specific. MA, WI and Mn opted out of standardized Medicare supplement plans. Not sure exactly what you are referring to.
By the time you are taking ten medications like I am, you better hope you picked the right supplemental plan because switching is hardly an option.
I'm 63 and starting my Medicare research now. Would you be able to provide guidance at my age? I have less than two years before I make a decision. I am concerned I won't pick the right plan for myself
do you do in person seminars in VA??
No, too long a trip from S FL. I used to. i lived in N VA for most of my adult life. Now our work is across the US by phone and computer.
Also, PERS, the agency managing CA State retirees benefits, tries to default you into their own Advantage Plan, not only private agents.
There is $ in Advantage Plans. Too much money. Too much money results in corruption.
Instead of paying double …
Thank you
medigapseminars.org/how-medicare-works-with-tricare-for-life/ this video will answer all those questions.
I was told either Medicare or employer coverage not both.
Are you able to cancel an advantage plan and go back to original medicare?
Do you handle New Jersey applicants
yes, of course 800-847-9680
My older brother has one and he’s paying out almost 500 bucks a month for this plan I have A an B and that’s fine for me right now
The choice of insurance company is the most important determinant of price. Perhaps he should shop - we can likely help lower his cost. 800-847-9680
HI MATT really enjoy watching you. What insurance company is BETTER and doesn't gouge you after a year in Premiums FOR NEVADA?? AETNA OR UNITED HEALTH INSURANCE
I hat medigap plan f hd, is it still available?
It is available if you were eligible for Medicare prior to 2020. But is is not a good value. Plan G voers everything except the Part B deductible ($233) but is $300 to $600 less per year.
Walt! If Advantage plans are not part of original Medicare, then why would you still pay Medicare Part B premium? Please check your recording.
Because that's the rule. Your Part B is no longer active, but the premium is paid so that if you quit the Advantage Plan, your Part B starts immediately and seamlessly.
Are you hiring new agents in PA?😊Thank you.
All my agents are employees and work in my office in South Florida. That way I am always available for help / questions and maintain quality control.
BUT,i thought part A sign up was almost ?? required,turning 65
If your Part A is already paid for through previous payroll taxes, there is no late enrollment penalty. you own it. If you end up in a hospital after your initial enrollment period , you can enroll in Part A and it will start 6-months retroactive in order to cover all your inpatient bills.
@@MedigapSeminars thank you,i was misinformed,but no harm,no foul?...i think,whater that means
so you can see a doctor in a foreign country if they accept the original medicare?
For some people budget has to be the primary consideration because they can’t come up with the monthly payment. If they do have medical expenses they can often pay them off slowly with payment plans. I know quite a few people in this category. I also know a number of people who didn’t know about supplement plans before signing up for a MA plan. I know one person who is planning on signing up for employee retirement insurance because the the prescription drug plan is much much better.
I understand and have seen that all myself
All of your videos cut out within 5 minutes of video. Any idea why?
No, they all work for me and no else as indicated an issue.
I would never give up I would add a supplement
I made the mistake you spoke of at the 21 minute mark 😔😔
Your information seems , objective, honest and to the point, thanks 🙏.
My question is that although my husband had traditionalMedicare and supplementary from my job (from NY), many doctors here claimed that they didn’t get paid by the supplemental insurance. So we ended up paying the 20% anyway.
My beloved passed away recently, but I am almost 65, and feel tempted to join a Medicare Advantage.
Yes I’m happier😂
i made a big mistakes not followed you long time ago.!
No matter who explains this it becomes more and more complicated.
Sad to hear that.
Why does Nikki Haley push Advantage?
