As a friend noted, the world stopped spinning briefly yesterday so Julee could step off. RIP, Julee.
When I attended the Twin Peaks fan festival in 1993, the closing event was a salmon luncheon at the Kiana Lodge on Bainbridge Island. Several of the show's stars were there -- among them Al Stobel, Catherine Coulson and Michael J. Anderson. The fans were there, sharing a sense of community. And in the background, "The World Spins" was playing. I was suddenly overwhelmed by a sense of inner peace and love for all mankind.

Your heart can be in tatters from a loss, but the sun still rises and sets, all goes as it should go. You were meant to be hurt-- for would you rather have experienced no love in life at all ... or instead found a love, suffered its end and then carry its emotional scar with you? I'd take the latter every time; I'll take the ache and shed the tears. It's part of living. That's what this song says to me. Very moving tune.
Julee Cruise is the little ballerina dancer in David Lynch's music box. Forced to perform over and over with the same tragic ending, and she know's full well what lies ahead. Such is life in this beautiful and mysterious world.

I have owned Julee Cruise's CD Floating Into the Night since 1989. Her angelic voice and the nostalgic sound of her music takes me back the the late 1950's to the late 1960s when I was in High School...listening to this is like a time machine back to my youth. Wonderful, timeless music with so much emotion! Thank you!
This video is from a play called Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Broken Hearted, performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 1989. Julee Cruise and Michael J. Anderson performed it live.
The entire album is one of my all time favorites.

Et 20 ans après elle me transperce toujours comme une flèche. Cette sérénité me remplie d'une immense mélancolie et son rythme lancinant comme le mal de vivre, me rappelle les moments difficiles de ma vie. Mais quel bonheur de retrouver ce morceau...
Never forget seeing and hearing her sing this in San Francisco in a small venue. Probably one of the live high-lights of my musical-going life. Just arresting and transcendent. She hit something in the Time. Something un-nameable.

wonder if the new Twin Peaks is any good
It's a little dull and weird even for twin peaks. Also nearly none of the old characters aside from cooper,Albert,Gordon,hawk,Andy and Lucy appear that much. I'm only 7 episodes in though. The pluses are Dopplecooper is fun and wicked,shelly got so much hotter it's like she reverse aged,the music is good and we finally meet Diane. Also,Micheal Cera appears in a scene where his acting is so cringe I almost think lynch and frost told him to do it on purpose to add to the oddity of the show. Right now I would give it a 6 out of 10. 11 more to go.
