  • 4 months ago I spent three pretty emotional full days finding content then editing together a memorial piece for my friend of 40 years and Quiet Riot comrade, Frankie Banali. It was intended for a Metal Awards show that still hasn’t come together so what better day than Frankie’s birthday to share this celebration of his life and times than on his birthday?
Happy Birthday Frankie - "Gone But Never Forgotten".

Unbelievable! Thank you for creating this amazing tribute! We fight to create awareness for pancreatic cancer each and every day in honor of Frankie and all others touched by this disease.

Let's not forget the band Heavy Bones that Frankie was a part of with guitarist Gary Hoey and put out one great album.

I was lucky enough to get to go to some Dubro rehearsals in the valley and watch Frankie up close work out new material and being a novice drummer (just starting out) what a help that was he was such a pro made it look so easy - that helped me so much in my musical journey - RIP you made a BIG mark in the Rock & Roll world

Thank you for this.... as a drummer in the early 80s I'll never forget the first time I saw Frankie and Quiet Riot at Madison Square Garden opening up for Iron Maiden 1983... seeing him live changed my whole outlook on drumming and who I wanted to be like.... I met Frank over the years and he truly was one of the nicest guys I've ever met and I've met everybody in the music business. When I read that he passed away I couldn't believe it as the last time I saw him was just a few months before....may he Rest in Paradise/ Peace..... you were and still are one of the greatest...miss you Frank🥁

What a beautiful tribute celebrating Frankie Banali’s legendary musical career. The beginning with the Opening Door and Frankie’s vivid dream about Kevin DuBrow coming for him…wow…Thanks to Chuck, I was able to catch a QuietRiot show in New Bedford, Mass and I got to meet Frankie. As shy as I am and don’t know what to say, Frankie told me he was originally from Queens NY and that his parent had actually lived in Brooklyn in earlier years, so I felt a bit more comfortable for some reason…He was fun and easy guy to talk to. And a great drummer. He will be missed. 🎶 \m/

OMG this was fantastic, absolutely loved it. Brought tears to my eyes yet brought me so much happiness to. Frankie's friendship with Kevin and the guys he played with is amazing. Seeing him also with his family hits home at all that is really important. Thank you for the video Chuck, thank you for sharing the moments.

This brought tears to my eyes. What a tribute! I met Frankie a few times in my life but the most memorable was at THE ABYSS in Houston March 11, 1995, on Washington avenue in Houston, Texas and I believe you were playing bass that show too. If you remember there was a punk band opening and those MOHAWKERS in the crowd busted Kevin upside the head with a drink cup because they were anti-social punks. They didn't like metal. I thought Kevin was coming off the stage to go Bruce Lee on them. Why the promoter ever booked a punk band I'll never know. Ok, so back to Frankie. I told him I played drums, but I wasn't that good. He said, "Keep practicing and you will be." I never forgot those words. I've been practicing ever since and have grown leaps and bounds because of that inspiration. I've played places and did things on drums I never thought possible. To me Frankie had a special gift on drums. He was never mentioned as one of the greatest drummers in the world, but when one listens closely to all the little syncopated beats or wild fills it's hard to imagine why not. Not to mention all the other artists Frankie did drums for. I cover all kinds of songs and sometimes on TH-cam people can be harsh, but working a full-time job and trying to learn songs is tough. So many times, I just listen to a few songs and go in my room and record 15 or 20 back-to-back and whatever happens, happens. I love playing! I have several from Quiet Riot covers, but I feel, "Cum on Feel the Noise." is one of my best. Many thanks to Frankie Banali!

    Question
Why isn't Quiet Riot in the Rock n Roll hall of fame??
They were the first hard rock band who's album went to number 1 and that alone should have gotten them in by now.

Your guess is as good as mine. That is a very political organization from what I've been told. Why didn't the Grammys have Kevin or Frankie in the Memorium segment? .
