╫ Long Hair On Men: What the Bible Really Says

- OK guys, so I guess I should cut my hair?
What does the Paul really mean in 1 Corinthians 11 when he says that it is a "shame" for a man to have long hair? You probably won't hear this in church.

Thank you, as a Musician setting myself apart I will continue to grow my hair and worship God with everything that I have.
The guitar can also be played with short hair
You continue keeping your long hair but be assured that you worship gods and not Jehovah. Jehovah knows even the nature itself teaches that long hair on a man is a disgrace, but on a woman it's a thing of beauty. Now what's yours for? When God sees it as a disgrace know that it's a sin. Corinthians 11:16 says the church of God has no other custom. I would say unless you are in any other denomination where you can sing the kind of music you sing.
God has told us to praise him with Psalms and spiritual songs. If you sing any other music know that you are doing what the body likes, and what the body likes is not liked by the spirit of God. You only please yourself.

I have taken a Nazarite vow 3.5 years ago. It has been a time of accelerated spiritual growth in Yahuah for more than the past 50 years of being a believer.
So, so true!!! churches use that all the time!!! One verse, any verse and they build a new teaching..... and people not even reading around it to get a full meaning!!!! To their convenience today they fallow Old Testament if it goes with their doctrine and the next day it's new Testament! Really, I just don't understand how people can't see the obvious things!? I guess was not opened, given by the Holy Spirit!
Me too just now thinking the same thing. Just last night i decided to read revelations because in seeing lotta stuff on TH-cam. I grew up in church and i was always told that nobody knows when jesus will come that he will come like a theif in the night..but when i read the sentence before it. It was saying if you ignore and dont prepare for him coming that to those people it will be like a theif in the. Night
What obvious thing did you see?
Completely relevant and a timely reminder to avoid what becomes the toxicity of people's faith and leads them to hypocrisy and hardness of heart. Thank you and blessings 😊
1st Corinthians 11:14 "Doth not even nature(native disposition) itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?"
'KJV'+(original Holy text definition)
Long hair was considered below shoulder level. Hair to th neck was not considered long hair!!!! Jewish men had hair down o the neck level.
@@texaslocoman1 we're not refering to physical Jews. The church at Corinth were mostly from gentiles.
@@GoWithJesus Very good observation. Non Jews males under Roman Hellenist rule did not have the costume of having long hair(below shoulder level). Apparently this letter of Paul is directed to communities where permissive indiscreet social behavior was rampant. It is very rare that Paul had to admonish a whole gentile Christian community about hair length! Also tattoos and other corporal markings were rampant in these communities. Christian converts fought with these gentile costumes for decades during the first 200 years of the Church. Hair length was not an issue in Jewish community as males usually had hair at neck level. Having short hair and no facial hair was a gentile costume. Again, males with hair at neck level was no considered long hair!
@Moses hillocks Amen..
@@texaslocoman1 That's a fact, We should let hair grow around the neck level according to the BIBLE, Not longer than that.

I agree with what you have brought in your video. I had long hair for more than half of my life. Enjoyed it and thought it was a good look for me. Even thought I got to say there were times where my hair was so long that it kind of made me feel like it gabe me a femenine look so I would simply cut it shorter. Upon learning scripture I understood that Abba Yah wants his men to look like men and his women to look like women. I agree that it all would line up with culture. In my view a d the way that I feel. Long hair and I mean pass the shoulders while its beeing used loose makes a woman look beautiful. I have ran into many men with long loose hair and my first impression is that its a woman until I see their face. At this time of life I have short hair, let it grow a bit and when it simply feels a bit long like to where it can be tied up in a bun I simply cut it. Like I said, I teuly believe that Abba Yah likes his men to look like men and rhis is my personal conviction. As for the nazarite vow, well thats just it, its for the sole purpose of a vow. If you want to wear long long hair and wave it in the air and you feel good an manly doing so, well go for it as I don't see anything in the torah that forbids it. Just be fully convinced in your mind.

Thank you PD. I'm glad you spoke of this topic. It was very insightful, and it's motivating me to dig deeper in the Bible and it's context. Blessings to you and Christina ! Shalom
When I was young in the 1950s men didn't have long hair at all. The long hair started with "the Rolling Stones". They were not very good role models of behaviour especially Mick Jagger their leader.
I don’t think it’s wrong...but if God wants you to cut your hair...do it
The nazarite vow was done when a temple was still there. And the vow wasn't just hair, it was grapes (wine) and not touching dead bodies also. The truth is that God has not commanded us either way.
*IT'S NOT ONLY THAT PEOPLE PICK CERTAIN VERSES OUT, IT'S CONTEXT, CONTEXT, CONTEXT, AND INTENT OF A PERSON'S HEART TO DEFY GOD or NOT. ONLY GOD KNOWS OUR HEARTS INTENT*
I myself have had to check myself. My sweet nephew just has a fear of letting go of things like his hair, so it grew very long and lots of people thought he was a girl because of it. He has shorter hair that’s more shaggy medium length. Looks better to me. But I pray he forgives me for stating how much I’d prefer him to cut it. In Yeshuas name forgive me
My first question when I read that verse was, “ how long is LONG?” Little did I know... My Bible actually came with an appendix that contained a ruler for measuring your hair length to determine if it breaks the law and if your hair is , in fact, LONG. Just look in the back guys, it’s there. Lol
That's an odd and unique thing for a Bible to have because no Bible that I've ever seen has a ruler for hair, or any ruler at all lol.

What you don't realize is that God can change his mind, God can change his method in different time periods, just like God forbid the eating of flesh at the beginning, but later on God allowed it, and it was even said, that those who would not eat meat was weak minded. Samson was a Nazarite, not a Jew. He was following the Nazarite law. Jewish men were to cut their hair. The vow they made with their hair was for God alone. The Jewish vow was for their heads to be shaven. They are two different cultures. God’s people were expected to keep Jewish law, and Nazarites were to keep Nazarite law. Samson had to obey the same law his mother did. God told his mother before he was born to continue in that Nazarite law because they were not Jews.
Paul mentions that a woman’s hair is given to her (from God) as a covering. Women need their head covered because it’s her glory and for the angels. The man is the head of the woman, therefore his head should not be covered and the woman’s head should be covered.
A wonderful example is 1 Corinthians 11:14-15 “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.” (You even shared this scripture, yet you seemed to overlook the part where it said long hair is a shame to a man.)
Men naturally lose hair before women do. God designed us that way. Men develop more testosterone than women which causes them to lose hair at an older age before a woman do. It is shameful for a woman to not have hair. (Medical conditions are excluded. If a woman has no hair, she needs a covering on her head to substitute the loss of hair) Nature alone teaches us that it is more natural for a woman to have uncut hair than for a man. Paul teaches that this is a natural occurrence that men have short hair as opposed to women. It is visible in nature itself because of how men lose their hair. Hair is given as a covering for women, which men are to cut off themselves.
These however are holiness standards to those who have been born again already (according to Acts 2:38). I am not shaming anybody who doesn’t live by these holiness standards, but I am just sharing what the Scriptures say. God’s people (the Jews) we’re under a much different law than the Nazarites. But now that we live after Jesus has risen, there is a new covenant. The word of course does say we cannot add or take away from God‘s word, but it is a fact that God said He would make a new covenant that would be for all people; not just the Jews. (Jeremiah 31:31-34, prophecy fulfillment in Hebrews 8:8, 12:24) The old covenant is circumcision and the new covenant is baptism. There are many more things we need to do to live a holy life. This is why we need the Holy Ghost to guide us. We cannot please God without faith.
The epistles were written to churches that were already saved, yet struggling in faith and holiness and needed instruction on how to continue in the faith and obedience to the holiness of God.
I know this was a mouthful that I shared and there is so much more, but I hope I can share more with you and I hope you can dive deeper into God‘s word and get to know Him more. God bless you, in Jesus name.
Yessss so true. My church never teaches us things like this because God loves you for the person you are

I think you’re misunderstanding the point here,in my opinion, and my intent isn’t to be argumentative.
I’m a man and I have hair a little bit past my ears and I consider that long. I think what Paul is saying is as follows. : yes, you don’t lose salvation because you’re a man with long hair, but I think what he is saying is : God‘s not gonna give a command for everything under the sun, but nature teaches you certain things that you should and shouldn’t do by using your own discernment. Now as a man with long hair, I can understand what Paul is saying : me constantly fixing my hair, grooming it , having to spend a lot of time putting products in it,and fixing it all day long while having a labor job is a nuisance.it’s not conducive for a man to be dealing with managing beauty as he’s trying to do manly things. We are hear to toil and to protect. Another thing, if you are a man and you have to protect your family and you have long hair you are at a disadvantage if someone grabs your hair. I say all this while having longish hair but I can feel gods convictions and feel how even when I’m not trying to be feminine ; the characteristics that come with maintaining long hair is feminine.
If you find yourself needing to spend a lot of time grooming, or you are convicted to cut it for any reason, that would be good.
However, depending on hair styles, your job, and other factors - not everyone spends much time grooming.

Thankyou. I'm a Christian with long hair and reading Paul's statement brought me here. I felt it surely could not be God's law to mandate short hair- I'd never heard that anywhere else in the Bible, and my own heart tells me it's natural and good to wear long hair. I think you're right, Paul was referring to the culture of the time. If the culture of the time dictated that long hair = womanly, then a man's God-given manly nature would indeed tell him not to grow it long. I think he was truthfully saying, a man should know by his own nature what is and isn't graceful according to his culture's distinctions between men's and women's appearance.
Today there is no such cultural definition around hair, and at 6'5 and 240lbs I definitely don't look girly! If anything, in the European cultural heritage that I naturally reference, long hair is quite masculine and therefore graceful.
Paul's statement then was the equivalent of something like telling men not to wear lipstick today (as there are men who do); lipstick does have a cultural gender today (feminine), even though nothing about lipstick is 'natural' or, if you think about it, inherently 'womanly' in and of itself, any Godly man's nature still makes it obvious to him not to wear lipstick because of its cultural significance as a feminine thing.
Do you have a beard n did you shave all your hair including the eyebrows? Then you must not cut any hairs on you at all after that until you end your vow and then you cut the hair n not the beards.

In the book of acts, Paul was just keeping the doctrine . But after Paul go forward with LORD JESUS CHRIST, he makes us to understand in 1corithians11:14 to man to cut their hair.
I would like to know if it's okay to fade my hair ?? Because in Leviticus 19:27 it says "Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt tho mar the corners of thy beard." So please anyone get back to me on this question.
I myself will stop shaving my beard too, even though this was OT. Nevertheless, I encorage men to not cut their beards to become manlier
That's part of the law Christ fulfilled, I think.
Wonderfully done and I appreciated the cultural insight, but let us not miss the forest because of the trees. The main point is important: Note how Paul was respecting the culture of the day, or allowing his faith to integrate within the culture of the day, the culture of Rome or Greece. To the Romans he became like a Roman, and to the Jew he became as Jew.
While it is correct that we cannot correctly use the Scriptures to justify long or short hair, too many today do not respect what is considered acceptable in the culture and would rather be noticed by a different haircut, a tattoo or a piercing (rather than be notice for a godly character).
In other words, the Bible does not tell us to wear our hair a certain length but it does tell us to respect the local culture. I work in a part of Africa where long hair on a man is frowned upon. But it is disappointing to see young westerners come to Africa as short-term missionaries but do not respect the culture. Young men come with long hair, girls with tattoos and piercings but all this is distracting and not something the people of this African country benefit from, nor do they appreciate it. It is detrimental to the work they want to come and do. Likewise, if your parents, employers or others do not appreciate your long hair, are we honoring them if we do other than what they feel is respectable?
So does this bring us back to square one, meaning that we can scrutinize someone for their long hair if that is not what the culture expects? Yes, in a way it does. We cannot use the Bible to tell you how to cut your hair but one must ask, why am I doing things to my outward appearance so that people notice me? Is it a help or a hindrance to the witness of Christ in me?
In summary, the life Christ calls us to is to lay down what we want and "… become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel…" 1 Cor 9:22
I completely agree with you. If the culture as a whole will be offended or confused by a hairstyle, it’s better to cut it so as to not make anyone stumble from receiving the gospel.
It depends. I am a South African. In SA, long hair is not an issue. But in some other places, it will be.
Paul was sarcastic. He was saying those arguments were meaningless?
0:39 😂😂😂 I really love the way you explained it.
Not going to lie, I have ling hair and have felt shameful about it at times. Not because the Bible said its shameful, but naturally I feel less masculine sometimes when I look at my hair lol.
If you feel ashamed of it, then consider cutting it. Why would you have it if it impacts your confidence?
Dude im literally getting ready to lol. I kept it really because hair cuts are expensive and I like my hair. I think its time though... ive had ir for 7+ years
Just work out increase your masculine frame but yes i believe that part of why long hair is bad on men because it creates feminine energy
Praise yeshuah! Hamashiach! Messiah the Lord!!
Not supposed to be separated into verses, it’s supposed to be the entire book, n we must know the Torah to understand the Gospels.
It also says if any man seems to be contentious than we have no such custom neither the churches of God
that is why this is definitely not a cultural issue , I dont't think Paul was too worry about Roman culture.
I’m going to cut my hair pretty soon , but I want who ever is reading this to think about it. If this is true then that means all the poor men in the Ancient Rome times who couldn’t afford haircuts went to hell. Doesn’t that not make sense to you. For the people seeing that it’s a sin. Hair grows with time and therefore time is my doom to this sin that’s what I see when I read what Paul wrote. How can I worship god if my hair keeps growing and I can’t stop it. I don’t know how to make it stop and if I did then I would to obey him. Im going to cut my hair tho just in case because I don’t know what to think anymore😢
Aren’t men supposed to look like men and women look like women? So wouldn’t long hair on a man resemble a woman? From a far you will look like a woman. I had short hair once and I got called “sir” lol. Never cut my hair again.
Paul knew it was time to cut that hair because of the angels
I agree- nice presentation. Preachers/pastors have tried to turn this long hair thing on guys into some legalist rule that makes long hair on men a sin. Nothing could be further from the truth.
First, we have to understand what and to whom Paul was addressing In 1 Corinthians 11. Paul was speaking to a very carnal church living in a very corrupt city about the CULTURE of the day. in those days, in the city of Corinth, if a man wore his hair long adorned like a woman, he was considered a "male prostitute". That is why Paul was saying it is a shame if a man wore his hair long. He was addressing the culture of the day. He was in no way suggesting a male follower of Christ, if he wore his hair long hair was being sinful against the Lord.
A guy wearing his hair long today ( like I do) is in no way dishonoring the Lord. I can tell you now the Lord is more concerned about the condition of our hearts than a long hairstyle we as guys, decide to wear.
God doesn't really care about someone's outward appearance 1st Samuel 16 : 7
Had a Rabi say long hair was not acceptable on men yet ok with tattoos. Can’t find anything in Torah about long hair other than nazarite vow, but seems to be clear. Help! Trying to figure out!
Nothing in the Torah speaks against long hair on men. At times God commanded it for the nazarite vow (e.g. Samson).
I don't think I can agree with the use of Samson's case, as the Lord Himself commanded his hair never be cut as He designated that Samson would be a Nazarite. I can't imagine that His decision to create this position, role or identity of the Nazarite is His "OKAY" for men to leave their hair long. For as the wearing of men's clothing would clearly show us a man, as this is nature. This also, seeing someone from their back, with long hair, it is natural for one to assume it is a woman, as it is natural for women to have long hair.
Forgive me, brother, but I cannot agree with this one.
Samson was not the only one. The nazarite vow could be taken by anyone who desired it, even Paul took a nazarite vow (not cutting his hair included). Therefore if it could be done by choice, and God permitted it, even encouraged it, then He obviously doesn’t have a problem with the long hair itself especially since it comes with doing the vow. The idea that someone’s gender is identified by their hair length is only your social construct and opinion and not taught by the Bible. If you lived in a country where more men had long hair you may even say the opposite. The Bible only teaches we should not *dress* with woman’s clothes as men. Paul’s 1 verse on hair has nothing to do with hairstyles and everything to do with making a point using the cultural norms of his day so he may explain something more clearly to his audience. We know this because hairstyle is NOT the context at all. Read the entire chapter instead of 1 verse in isolation.
May I ask if you've taken the Nazarite vow? Or is it a cultural thing for you, too?
I second this
@@RiseOnFire ok some say the nazarite vow or samson's oath also included dietary requirements, which is not required by the church today and that applying it to first corinthians is invalid , what's your take on that?
@@LaCurlySue562 It may be a cultural thing. See the Vikings
First, let me say that, rightly or wrongly, I neither judge nor condemn you or any man for wearing long hair.
BUT, while I CERTAINLY see (as you do) that God not only sanctions but mandates the growing out of hair *as a mark* of one under a vow, the assertion by some that He is for OR opposed to men wearing long hair all the time, in every place, and in every culture is speaking falsely for God.
(I'm still watching (~17-min mark) and will definitely watch the head-coverings series.)
The text reads:
“Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him, but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her for a covering.”
As I understand it, this passage could be reworded, or Paul essentially says:
“CORINTHIANS!, don't human beings-- via customs, norms, etc., TO INCLUDE the length of hair-- instinctively distinguish between the sexes?"
(Now, I think- fascinatingly!- that this could be extended to “nature”/creation because while it is the MALE lion that grows a glorious mane, THIS DISTINGUISHES him from the mane-LESS female lioness. We observe the same thing in birds, where the plumage of the male tends to be more brightly colored or elaborate … horns on male livestock … etc. It’s not across the board, but I’m sure you get my meaning: The point is more DISTINCTION, not hair. Paul uses hair for the present context; he could not do so if long hair
was common in this cultural context for men AND women.
In other words, BECAUSE God sanctions hair growth for the man WHILE he is under a vow, his long hair is a sign that something UNusual, EXTRAordinary, out-of-the norm/’ABnormal’, special is going on. I think we reach too far to say that long hair on men is ALWAYS or NEVER okay. Does that make sense?
In a culture where long hair was/is permitted/acceptable/common for all men all the time, the man under the Nazarite Vow would *not* stand out or be set apart *at all* (not by the length of his hair anyway). You see?
The EXCEPTIONS-- mourning; health; special sanctity ( *LIKE the Nazarite Vow* )-- ONLY serve to PROVE the general rule and natural tendency to distinguish between the sexes in diverse ways, including hair.
I think handling this verse in such a way as to try to disarm it for use against men wearing long hair *unnecessarily* complicates the passage and confuses what is otherwise clear.
Paul is speaking to a specific people, about a specific issue, relying on specific customs, for that specific time and place. God, in His wisdom, does *not* speak *specifically* about this (hair) in any *cultural* sense but only as it relates to the exceptions that I listed in the previous paragraph, so neither should we. Rather, He (no doubt understanding norms are diverse) simply commands that there always BE a DIFFERENTIATION.
So, no, PD is not in violation of YHVH’s Word by wearing his hair the way he does. If he starts being mistaken for a woman, lol … thennnnn maybe Bro PD should revisit the matter, but otherwise, he does not violate God’s Word.
I know this comment is long already, lol, but if you’d indulge me, allow me to submit two last items that I think brilliantly “tie up” the matter:
“It is against nature in a proper sense, to bow down before an idol, because it is against nature to adore an idol; and bowing down, by universal custom, is used to denote adoration; but if bowing down by universal custom WERE USED TO [emphasis mine] denote contempt, it would NOT [emphasis mine] be against nature.”
(The Works of Jonathan Edwards, II:800)
“Did nature teach the Corinthians that if a man wears long hair, it is a disgrace for him? Yes, it did. Nature did BECAUSE [emphasis mine] the God-designed, healthy male soul revolts against clothing himself in *symbols of femininity,* just like the God-designed, healthy female soul revolts against presenting herself as a man.”
(J. Piper)
Jonathan Edwards had long hair himself.
Don’t forget, Acts 18:18 that says Paul had his hair shorn in Cencherea BECAUSE he had a vow. Also, another interesting detail on first Corinthians chapter 11, verse 3 “any man, praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head“ that word “covered“, the Greek word that Paul wrote actually means “down“. Any man, praying, or prophesying having his head DOWN, dishonors his head. we hear it in church a lot. “let’s all bow our heads“ not men. Men are supposed to look straight or up when they pray. If not, they dishonor their head. That word “down“, that same Greek word is used when Jesus tells the story of the good Samaritan. A certain man went DOWN to Jericho. It’s a decline. If you decline your head when you pray you dishonor it. There are some pretty interesting mistranslations in the Bible. That’s why Paul says study to show yourself approved unto God. Keep your nose in the book gentlemen (and ladies).

bible says men should only wear short hair, and that should be the law too.
Great teaching PD! Very insightful and a good reminder for us to not take God’s Word out of context or use it for our own agendas against others. Shalom!
I love God, I have short hair because I honour him, not because I think I know better than him.
This is not about knowing better than Him. This is simply about understanding what He said and meant in the Bible.
@@RiseOnFire You say "This is not about knowing better than Him." Yet in your video you are arrogant and mocking while trying to justify your choice to have long hair.
It's not law, but god prefers a man to have short hair, then if I love god, I would want to willingly obey him.
As for Paul you are wrong there as well, 1 Corinthians 11:14 Nature? The nature to which Paul is referring to, Is the God-given natural intrinsic maleness,
to feel repulsed and shameful by wearing the biblically defined symbols of womanhood, (1 Corinthians 11:15) long hair.
I know without a doubt the spirt of god inside me feels that way by nature.
Jesus could and did add to the law, Matthew 5:27-28 He said this with the authority of god!
Unless you read the bible in spirit, you won't see the spirit who wrote it and it will just be a book that people argue about, even though in the book it says not to.
You shouldn't teach false doctrine, god bless, keep trying!
By your logic, Samson was a sinner for obeying God’s commandment to not cut his hair. And Paul was a hypocrite for writing what you said, while wearing long hair himself during his nazerite vow. Paul did not give a new commandment regarding hair as you propose, he was making a point (not about hairstyles) using a cultural norm of the day. You are reading into the text what you feel, that is why your perspective makes scripture have the above contradictions.
@@vilebile1743 Jesus had long hair himself, kid. In ancient Scandinavia only slaves were shorn while strong men had long blond hair and beards.

That intro was funny lol
Just by this video I got it, THANK YOU!
Towards the end of the vid, you mentioned that we should dress according to our gender because of the Torah commandment. Whats your take on women wearing pants?
If someone looks at a woman wearing pants, will they mistake her for being a man? No. That is the heart of the issue the Torah commandment speaks of. If a man wears a dress, you may mistake him for a woman and that is the issue: when confusion is brought in regarding our gender. So we must use discernment on specific cases.
When I go in a store there is a certain way pants are made for men in their section and the same for women.
Even in jackets, sweaters, shirts, and coats
Why do u shave the side of your face?
Even if there's one verse, it's still in the Bible. God wanted to create a man and a woman differently. There's a voltage in the battery because there are two different poles. + and --. In this age of LGBT, it's better for men to look manly and women to look feminine.
Many women who are over 60 have short hair, it is simply that many don't have the energy to take care of themselves as they where once young, we all become young and old, it is the cycle of life.
Awesome video
hey thanks for this. I'm a girl with short hair(well my hair is a little longer than my shoulders so i wouldnt really classify that as short) but my dad has been forcing me to cut my hair. And obviously he said i cant have longer hair until im in highschool and obviously im not yet in highschool. And ive been thinking about that verse and i saw this guy preaching about girls with short hair and he said that God wouldnt listen to our prayers if we are a girl with short hair. And ive been worrying about my salvation ever since. I do know that we are saved by grace through faith and not by works but i dont want to disappoint God
I’m sorry about the situation you are facing. You can have absolute peace that your hair length won’t cause God to not hear your prayers! Nor has your hair length anything to do with salvation. God loves you. He is your Father. He doesn’t stop loving you over such things.
A woman's hair is her glory
Don't cut your hair!
Absolutely disgusting that your dad wants to force that on you. Don’t worry, I promise you can still have favor with God either way. I have observed that so many Christian today are pushovers, who won’t stand in conflict, well you know what?! Imma break that. What your dad is doing to you is low key psychological abuse. What’s his motive behind it? I would guess he’d give some bs reasons, but ultimately, it would come down to his want for control. Just try to reason all you can with him. Try to be gentle with your words, but firm in your stance. He’s obviously hurt in some way to want this much control. If you’ve done everything you can to reason with him and tried every motive to get this stopped, and still can’t succeed, then just hold out til high school. It’ll come I promise. I had to wait til I graduated from my Christian school to finally be able to grow my hair out as a guy. I had wanted to grow it out longer since I was literally brought into that school as a 6 year old boy
That's dumb, People say the stupidest things. Yahuah(God) says he doesn't look at your appearance. He looks at you're heart. Keep praying. Yahusha a. k.a Jesus loves you. Believe in Messiah, Repent and be save.
Its talking about what establishes the DIFFERENCES between men and women. SO it sill fall under that. As you see today where the line is trying to be blurred.
As for Samson, its two ways you can look at it.... either 1. The vow of the Nazarite wasn't forever and/or for a very selected people not a general rule for everyone, specifically the Jews, which WE ARE NOT.. Paul and Jesus did not have long hair.
So you covering your head with hair is saying that you have somebody other than God?
The Nazarite vow excluded wine, strong drink, vinegar, grapes and raisins for the duration of the vow. At the end of the vow the individual was to present himself to the priest with a one male lamb, one female lamb, one ram, a basket of unleavened bread, cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, wafers of unleavened bread mingled with oil and their meal offering and their drink offering. Then after the individual's hair is cut off it is to be burned under the sacrifice of the peace offering. This is probably what the Apostle Saul did in Acts 21. His vow may have been relatively brief since it was to settle the issue at hand so he may or may not have had long hair. The fact that a Nazarite was not to cut his hair implies that the norm was for them to cut their hair. Ezekiel 44:20 says the priests were not to shave their heads nor let their locks grow long but to trim their hair. Revelation 9:7 & 8 refer to strange creatures with faces of men, but hair like women. What do men's faces look like? The Hebrew word for "elder"is almost the same as the Hebrew word for "beard" which is certainly the distinguishing feature of a man's face. What does a woman's hair look like? Long hair is a woman's glory.

Thank you very much! I am a Christian dude with long hair myself. Now I feel more rest assured and I can say that I'm just being my own individual person even though I still submit to the Lord. In retrospect, I had people telling me when I was job hunting that I needed to cut my hair. I did not but I rolled it Inward and concealed it because I know not everybody accept that. However I have been used as an extra in two historical films we are some shots we're done around Richmond Virginia. They were looking for Slender Man with long hair so in that sense it actually helped my job search. Additionally I think about my past drinking history and a whole bunch of consequences that I suffered. Well I wanted to follow God and I was being allowed to go through those consequences and by his grace I have been sober since 2012. I continue to be active in AA. So my conclusion is that if my hairstyle were a problem God would not have blessed it. And when I am in active Rebellion against God's word he will lift his hand of protection and give me over to my sinful desires and let what happens happen
A Nazarite vow to set yourself apart must shave all their hair off their entire bodies first including the eyebrows, then you don’t cut the hair until the end of the vow to set you apart like Paul did in keeping the Torah. Acts 21 to show he always kept Torah n offered the offerings in Torah for the vow which includes animal sacrifice and Paul took one in Acts 18 also.
Is this applies to tattoo as well? Having tattoo is being normalized nowadays. Personally I don't like it, but my concern is on younger generation & how to answer our children on this matter
Scripture prohibits marking of the skin because it was a pagan ritual to honour the dead... Just because people say, I don't celebrate that, but I just want to have a tattoo, does not change it in God's eyes...if we take scripture like this long haired argument, then we should be able to take the marking of our skin and say..this too is ok to do?... We need to be careful that we aren't fitting scripture into what our flesh really wants to continue to do...God does look at our hearts and what does scripture say about this....our hearts are deceitful ..I'd suggest, looking up the origins on tattoos when helping your children understand why God says what He does.

Paul who said we should follow a corrupt government, we could eat meat sacrificed to idols, we should drink wine "for the stomach", we should follow our conscience over morality (Romans 14), a man whose wife left him could marry again and it would not classify as adultery... is he really an authority?
@@omegaisnownewagain divorce, on the biblical way, is only allowed if the other was caught in adultery.
In the first, Matthew quotes Jesus as saying: “It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, except on the grounds of porneia (sexual immorality), makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.” (Matthew 5:31-32). And about meat sacrificed to the idols, if it doesn't make anyone around like you, stumble, then it is fine, for every food musy be recieved with thanks giving, but if someone like you who isn't old and strong enough in the faith, stumbles to see someone eat a meat sacrificed to idols, we shouldn't eat so, paul also taught this but you seem to only point out the ones that seems bad to youre sight as if you only seek to point a hole and a jot at him and prove him wrong, you have problems. And about drinking wine for the stomach, paul commanded that to timmothy, for his aching stomach as it was what paul knows how it may be treated, don't take it out of context, and romans 14 says nothing aboutfollowing conscience over morality, in fact, it even answers every doubt that you have, where in the internet did you even got this info's from? You need to do more research. A woman's headcovering had to do with being a witness to the angels. There is a lot more going on in the verse than just a cultural anamoly. You also cannot compare a nazarite vow to everyday societal norms. As you said the vow had to do with being set apart for a time. Look into how a woman's hair was seen from a medical point of view and you will see why long hair on a man was seen as a shame. You're still young PD and have much to learn. This does not mean that you do not have a valuable contribution to make in the body. I think before anyone of us get up and teach on anything that God may or may not have strong objection to we need to make sure our research is exhaustive and complete otherwise we become guilty of the very thing you addressed at the beginning of your video ie failure to understand context.

That was sampson.not you.
Its more than just 'culture' - GODS WORD is eternal in its understanding. Its spiritual. It's about what a WOMAN represents as a TYPE of WOMAN (the assembly) - 'she' is a BRIDE to be uncovered (with no shame before YAH) at the end. A faithful bride is to become a WOMAN - fully matured. A Witness before YAH. FILLED with HIS HOLY SPIRIT. And we once more become NAKED with no shame (as in the garden of Eden). YET there are others who are UNCOVERED and do not have the WORD abiding within and they will be UNCOVERED by YAH to their open shame! The misunderstanding of Pauls words come from the flesh - we see man and we see woman as separate but when they are ONE with YAH they are no longer male or female. This is ISRAEL. Shalom. May we ALL grow our HAIR and BE COVERED by YAH and our understanding in YAH GROW AND GROW under HIS COVERING and FOR HIS GLORY. HalleluYAH.
Do as you are convicted, that is good. But there is not a single commandment in God’s law regarding hair. Therefore we will add no commandment ourselves nor impose our desires on others.

Does this young man speak in the holy Spirit or just what he thinks is good with him? A man should not cover his head not only with his hair but even with a hat.
That's the law, if you feel obligated to keep that law, go on, but we are free from the law, we should walk on the new, and whatever God convicts us not to do, usually when we do something that might be wrong, we really shouldn't do it. A hat can be used as a protective cloathing against the harmful sunrays
But i suggest that you don't take my word for it, this is just as far as my knowledge about it goes, if you want you can look for other people's opinions first and maybe come back to tell me if i am wrong, it would be nice if you do so

Hi Pd , thank you for a great teaching, I'm just wondering about women covering their head because it was a Roman cultural thing in the times of Corinthians? If I'm not mistaken in (Gen 24) - we read that Rebekah covered herself with her veil when she came to Isaac. She understood she was going to be his wife , did she do that as a form of respect for Isaac and understanding that he is her covering or is that a picture we see of something women did in a Hebrew culture? The women that was to be brought before God when suspected of adultry in Numbers -5:18: The priest shall set the woman before the LORD, dishevel the woman’s hair,
Again removing the veil that she had on as a sign of being married or having a covering. I believe this was a Hebrew cultural thing and not necessarily a Roman one. This begs the question to what cultural group Paul was actually speaking to and if it could of been a mix between those part of the 10 tribes who were driven away amongst the gentiles and who was still adhering to their former cultural customs. We know from the letter of James that he was addressing the 10 tribes scattered amongst the gentiles - see James 1:1. The Father has used many physical things throughout scripture to set His people apart. But I could be completely wrong about my interpretation of these scriptures brother. I'm still learning and seeking too. The Father has used the headcovering to bring forth deliverance healing and discipline in my life. Many would argu that God Almighty does not need to use a piece of cloth to change anyone and I do agree with that but Yeshua did not need a cross(tree) to die on yet He was given it. The Father is incredibly creative in the ways in which He chooses to work in us. We cannot assume He only does things in a manner that we as mere humans can understand. Shalom
If convicted to wear a head covering, then you must obey that conviction. It is not wrong of course, unless it makes another stumble.
You are right in that it was a part of Hebrew culture, and the Roman culture also embraced it. God knew of this cultural practice, hence why it is referenced in scripture.
However, it is not a commandment of God to do in the Torah. It is not wrong to not wear one, and it is fine to wear one - there is freedom in Christ in this matter to follow your own convictions.
As mentioned earlier however, if it makes another stumble there is something to keep in mind: in today’s culture Muslim women is the prominent group to wear head coverings in the West. If you are continuously mistaken to be a Muslim, then that is a concern. If not, then it is not a problem.
Of course, we should not judge each other on this choice, since it is not a commandment.
@@RiseOnFire Thank you for your response. I do agree that it's not a command and yes it is a personal conviction of mine. The way in which I choose to cover is very unlikely to be mistaken for a Muslim but I will take your advice to heart and be mindful of others always. Many blessings.
Very complete.
Amazing example!
Torah shows us that prostitutes covered their heads n hair and faces. Not obedient women.
Leper’s ( likely those who sinned) had to shave.
Paul took 2 Nazarite vows that were the 8 day vows!
There’s 2 vows: life time from the womb or the 8 day.
