We ordered in fall of 2023 and chimney sent is SBI (not Selkirk or Duravent). SBI was also primarily friction fit/tolerance fit and only one interior part was screwed together. Also 2 other notes on deviation from this video: make the square cut smaller than the screw holes where you screw the flange in not just smaller than the flange itself, and our interior chimney section has to be installed through the inside of the sauna, or prior to installing the exterior cover as opposed to sliding through the exterior cover as shown in this video.

what are the advantages of the barrel-shaped sauna vs a rectangular one?

The barrel’s cylindrical shape allows for improved convection flow. Plus, there are no corners for air to get trapped in.
While it only boasts a single layer of wood, the barrel sauna makes efficient use of space and convection to heat the interior rapidly and evenly. This is further aided by the fact that it has less space to heat than its cabin-style counterpart.
Along with being easy on the eye, barrel saunas are structurally sound, making them the perfect choice for harsh climates similar to those experienced in Canada.

@@nootkasaunas I would agree that barrel sauna makes efficient use of space and convection to heat the interior rapidly and evenly, if this barrel was standing vertically on its end. In horizontal position this barrel is a waste of space and prevention of convection
