    THANK YOU! this has been the best bead crochet TH-cam video I've seen- finally I was able to make that bracelet (with 6 beads instead of four, but the mechanics are all the same). I saw at least 7 different videos- even a computer version, and always ended with a hot mess and questions... thank you again :)

    Very nicely done! About a thousand years ago (in the early 1970s), the ladies in my woman's organization made pearl rope necklaces. We used a very fine cord with very small white pearls. I still have the necklace. I can't remember how we made them, but your explanation seems quite clear. Thank you!

    I wanted to thank you for this video. I’ve been watching and following along with dozens of videos and no one showed it quite as clearly as you did. In particular the deliberate show and tell on changing the direction prior to joining in the round, and showing precisely where the hook gets inserted, as well as how the thread goes between the beads helped everything kind of click into place for me. Every other video I watched said those things all happened, but didn’t really show me how. So thank you for being perfectly clear for me, I’m excited to go make things now!

    I wanted to add a tip. If you are having trouble starting the tube, work the first inch or so around a straw or skewer, etc. (something that your work will fit around comfortably) that will hold the tube open for you. It is also a good idea to keep a smaller size needle or hook at hand just in case you drop a stitch and need to pick it up.

    Hi! Are you thinking of the daisy bead weaving stitch? We have a video for that here: "How to Bead Weave a Daisy Chain". Other then that, I am unfortunately not quite sure how to make a rose appear.

  • @aleneclark377
    @aleneclark377 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, I think the one you are thinking about is the old crochet rope flower necklace: String 19 white, 2 green, 3 white, 1 green, 2 pink, 2 white, 1 pink, 1 gold, 1 pink, 2 white, 2 pink, 1 green, 3 white, 2 green, and 19 white. Original pattern called for 38 white beads between each flower, but I wanted my flowers closer together, so I put 19 instead of 38 whites.

    Thank you so much for sharing your technique. I was about to give up. Based on your experience which size beads should I start with and what type of cord or thread is best. I tried the S-lon and for me it was a little difficult.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      NiceyLuvstubing59 I would recommend starting with pearl cotton, it is very soft and flexible. For the bead size, I would start with a 6 or 8 seed bead and
      make sure to use contrasting colors. It helps TREMENDOUSLY to be able to see the different colors start to spiral and figure out which one goes
      next and where.

    Great tip to use high contrast beads and a thicker cord as a beginner, which is what I am.
    For your bracelet of 6", how many beads did you end up loading? Total or each of the 4 colors. I'll extrapolate that to my wrist size.
    Gonna give this tech a try for sure! TFS!

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You would end the beaded crochet as seen in the video, making sure to leave a tail of at least 12 inches. Thread a big eye needle onto the tail. Next, line your spiral ends (the start of your crochet and the end of your crochet) so that the spirals look uniform and literally stitch your two sides together by going back and forth and in between your crochet until the sides are secure. Tie periodic knots within your stitching. Do the same thing with the tail from where you started your crochet.

  • @katzemutter03
    @katzemutter03 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    So happy to have found your tutorial. Many years ago we young ladies made many of these beautiful necklaces (which I still wear) one of which had a rose patterned in it. I can't remember how to string the beads so that the rose appears. Do you know how??

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could use a big eye needle or use gum arabic glue, or anything else you've used successfully in the past to stiffen your pearl cotton, yes.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not sure what your question is. Are you asking if you could use elastic to crochet with beads? I haven't ever seen that done, I'm not sure how the tension would be using something stretchy, it might be difficult.

    • @beadaholique

      Yes spiral crochet and kumihimo look very similar. The finishing techniques vary a bit but the spiral result is the same.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could also do 2 and 2 to give two wider spirals, or every other bead to give a thinner 2 color spiral. Feel free to experiment and see what happens!

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would start with size 6/0 beads and use the same colors that I used in the video. It is a lot easier to do if you can see clearly which color to use next.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you can do this with 11/0 seed beads and a good thread choice would be a micro macrame S-lon cord. Here is a link: www.beadaholique.com/c-65364-super-lon-micro.aspx and here is a project that uses 11/0 seed beads and the thread: www.beadaholique.com/t-ba-project-B7032.aspx

      Yes, you can use most different size beads. Smaller beads will need a smaller thread (you might want to try Micro S-Lon for 11/0s) and a smaller crochet hook, and will give you a thinner cord.

    I was hoping you could answer a question for me. I've been getting in to beading and crochet and I was wondering if I should wax my crochet thread? I was told that if my work is crocheted with nylon or cotton thread, there is the possibility of them rotting should they get wet. I am an anxiety hand washer, so I wash my hands dozens of time a day. This could be a problem for my bracelets lol.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Waxing thread has a few benefits. Not only will it help repel water but it will tame the thread, making it less prone to tangling while you're working with it. That said, there are a few trade-offs. For something like a crocheted bracelet you'll notice that it not only changes the texture of it on your wrist, but the way it drapes as well. When you add wax you're adding stiffness. Since you wash your hands a lot I think it's worth experimenting with, especially with cotton thread. Nylon has better water resistance and isn't as prone to mildew.

    Hi, this is a great video.. easy to understand! Can't wait to try this!! Thanks for posting the video. I wanted to a ask you a question. I have seen bracelets like these without the clasps. The bracelet is a whole piece. Do you make those too? And is there a video for it?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! We do have a video coming soon on how to do a continuous spiral crochet bangle - stay tuned!

    • @NayNayPh4n13
      @NayNayPh4n13 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      So do you connect the two ends of the bracelet the same way? By stitching the thread back through the beads? I was looking to make it a whole bracelet so you can just roll it over your wrist.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Renee Bullard Essentially yes but you have to be careful about which point you join the beads so that they look like a continuous spiral.

      We prefer kumi to get this style of beaded braid as well, the end result is close enough that I'd call them identical. You never can tell what people will like though, we see spiral crochet fans making similar comments our kumi videos now and then

    how many beads r required for one bracelet?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The finished bracelet we show in this video is about 6.5 inches of beadwork. For a four color bracelet of that size you'll want at least 260 beads, that's 65 beads of each color.

  • @sarahahmed7711
    @sarahahmed7711 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you have to have 4 colors of beads?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      4 colors are not necessary, but we suggested 4 as the colors are easy to keep track of when you're crocheting. Thanks for watching!

    My question is this, do you put all the beads on when you start? and what happens if you dont add enough? How do you add them on later? as you are making the spiral? You didnt show that =(

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your beads must be preloaded onto your stringing materials. If you are using 6/0 seed beads, you will use about 40 beads per inch. The only way to add more beads later on is by adding them from the other end of the cord. You can potentially cut a little more cord than you need to add the beads on the other end. Thanks for watching!

    Wonderful Work! I have a Favor to ask you. Could you please do this tutorial with pony beads? The very same way you did this video with the acception, could you please use 6 beads grouped together? To have a bigger hole. Could it also be possible to make it close all the way, please show us how do you make a perfect ring. Where the beads are meeting at both ends and closing it. Bracelets made out of pony beads would be such fun for grandkids. Could you please do this I would so appreciate it. So to recap what I was saying could you do your tutorial using a group of six pony beads at a time, like how you're using your group of four and have it close all the way showing us how you close it that's making a perfect ring, a pullover bracelet. I love how patiently and slowly you did your tutorial, could you do that with the pony beads? Thank you and God bless you!!! Oh I forgot what size string would you be using for the Pony beads if you do choose to do this?

      @@beadaholiqueThankyou for your quick response!!! I understand. What about using the largest beads you have and making a crochet beaded round bracelet where it closes all the way and showing us how to close it. I really appreciate how you do it slowly so we can understand thankyou so much for that!!! Oops Spiral Crochet Beaded Bracelet.
