Bought the Live 2 about a months ago, I didn't really think Id use the speaker much but for about $200 more than I was seeing a new Live ver 1 was going for I just said screw it and went for it, and to my surprise the speaker sounds pretty good, especially for just making a track ( not so much for mixing ) and Im using the speaker a lot more than I thought I would. Definitely makes it a lot more self contained. As far a portability, I wouldn't really take it out much unless maybe to a studio session somewhere , but for taking it outside my home studio and to another room in my house or out on my porch or lawn with my MKP Mini 2, its perfect.
This was great! Just two notes, the Pro Ten Audio Warp setting is available in the MPC LIVE 1 not just the 2 under the general tab in settings. Also if you want the Q-Link overlay just hold down the Q-Link button on the MPC1 and touch the option SHOW Q-LINK STATUS WHEN TOUCHED, and then whenever you touch any of the q-link knobs that overlay pops up on screen!
Your videos are SO HELPFUL to this home hobbyist who loves synths. They're interesting, and so well done with the chapter list on the side, no fluff, so easy to follow along, review, and actually learn things. I've also made some purchases because of your reviews and tutorials. Thanks!
MPC one is the killer product! with update 2.8 and being able to hook up external gear and have it be the center of the setup is pretty worth 699! Thanks for the amazing reviews as always! you've sold me quite few products in the past 7 months 😁😁
I’ve been going back and forth on which one to pick up. MPC one is the perfect size has the cv gate but not as many MIDI connections. Still seems worth the 700 bucks.
@@Reticuli whats hilarious is that i preordered my mpcone back in 2020 when they were outa stock and got is for just under $600...nor tax either. seeing it for $900 😭😭 still worth the money though imo... i recall ppl was bitching over the $700 price, smh
man your reviews are really concise and well put togther - it's such a massive help, thanks! I think one of the main benefits I haven't seen anybody mention yet about having built-in monitor speakers is that taking regular breaks from using headphones is a really good thing for your ears (hearing). I'm not always wanting to produce at my desk where my monitors are, so I really like the addition of the speakers. I think this is one feature causing me to lean more towards spending the extra to get the Live 2, along with the other benefits of course. I think Akai are on it with the MPC line. +1 for the addition of connecting an audio interface, then can use mic pres and Hi-Z inputs for guitar!
Awesome and very helpful in considering these machines. TH-cam's time stretch works well enough that I can slow loopop down to .75 to follow him better and he still sounds fairly natural. This saves me having to go back and replay segments.
Had the one for awhile now. So i solved the problem of not being able to expand the internal drive to an ssd by just getting a small usb drive with a ton of space and i basically rigged up a way to hook it to the side it to the side. Its obviously not quite as good but you almost cant even tell its there. Also SD cards being dirt cheap is also another way to go, i got like 5 256gb ones for under 50 bucks and ive recorded an entire album on the one standalone, vocals, mix and master all in the standalone box and it it didnt even fill up one 256gb card. If i had this in 1999 i woulda been mind blown that at 800$ you get a literal daw in a box that can mix master, sample, beat make sequence and record vocals...... under 1k$. Back then this probably woulda cost like 5000$. Important to note that the one now supports abelton live and you can finally access the SD card inserted into the mpc on the computer when in controller mode so you can now drag and drop files easily.
I don't see it mentioned much, but for those wondering how well the speaker is on the Live II - think of it as a decent soundbar. It carries a lot of bass that you can feel it, and the mid and highs are also very well represented. It's very much usable for sitting outside, on the couch, in bed and getting that hard-hitting lows that professional headphones can give. They did not skimp out here and put the cheapest speakers they could find. Obviously, you'll want to monitor down the road with your more "professional" set up for final mixes, but do not discount the speakers. This device is a portable groovebox all-in-one you can take with you camping, vacations, etc.
I bought the MPC One when it came out but I returned it after a week because of software bugs. However I think it's been long enough and I just pulled the trigger on the MPC Live 2 (retro edition, gotta have those floppy disk vibes lol). I'm very excited especially after seeing you mention all the things they've fixed! Great video as always!
thank you for showing all 3 on the same table. i wanted to get a better idea of the size for each for my own layout. the One is actually smaller than i expected.
As always..an excellent review. To the point, and without unuseful extras... As for the Live... I'll get any MPC Live when they fix the disk streaming issue. They've been promising it for years, now.. Thank you for Thank you for this round up ;) Cheers from Portugal
Headphone life has its benefits but it can hardly be called social or open. Its quite introvert if you ask me. So not having to carry a extra bluetooth speaker around to be able to get that sound out in the open, lets say on a rooftop jam in spain :) , the inbuilt speaker makes sense to me. The only thing still missing is a dedicated mic input with a nice preamp.
Re: add a Mic input - 100% agree!!! The Live 1 (& 2) are both screaming for an input that takes Mic & Instrument Level!!!! Sure, it’s on the MPC X, but that’s not portable or in the same price range. If they would have added that to the Live 2, I would have upgraded in a heartbeat.... without that, I’m fine with my ancient and outdated Live 1 :)
lol I told everyone 2 days ago that you would have this before everyone.... Currently waiting on Accurate Beats, Sonic State, and Bo Beats to have their video up soon.
Would be nice to have an update for the MPC noobs like me. I just looked at the 2.10 changelog, and there have been a lot of updates it seems. You can use class compliant USB audio interfaces for IO expansion now. Would like to know how well this works since it says the number of tracks used will tax the CPU more or less.
THANK YOU for showing the chord progression stuff. I thought it could just be done via the software. That feature was one of my top wishes for the device and it can actually allready do it!!! That will make my day for tomorrow! Btw I LOVE all your videos! You helped and informed me so many times!!!
Great point you made... AKAI PLEASE RELEASE AN UPDATE TO WHERE WE CAN CONNECT OUR INTERFACES VIA USB TO BRING IN MORE OF OUR SYNTHS!!! We need MORE inputs!!!
Excellent review as always! Some good additions in 2.8. Now, I'm just looking forward to audio streaming and the drum synth they've been teasing. I gotta say, I'm really annoyed about the speaker on the Live MK II. It makes a honking brick of a unit even bigger. I have speakers, Akai, and if I want to hook them up they're better than that one. I don't want to carry it with me when most of the time I'm using headphones. I feel like they did it just to justify the MK II label. They should have just made the hardware creature comforts the new 2.0 version going forward and left its at that instead of pretending they made a whole new product. Even worse, they tied the extra I/O to being stuck with that speaker. The Live's "portability" was already mostly a function whether you wanted to take it out badly enough to lug it around. It's brilliantly portable in the house, though! Beats on the couch, beats in the kitchen, beats on the porch... It makes the Live a great composition tool.
I have the MPC One, love it and love the 2.8 update! The live 1 and 2 just do not do it for me. I agree with many other people, the speaker just isn't at all important for me, I have much better monitors and a portable Roland KC speaker that has much more kick. "If" I decide to upgrade I definitely will buy the MPC X.
I might rock the boat but I love the speaker, it's super handy for what i want the MPC live for so I'm glad I waited and ordered the Live 2. I can see it being super useful being more portable now and not having to take headphones everywhere, whats the point of a portanble battery device without a speaker, and who wants to share headphones right now in this age of germs .Nice work akai ! ai applaud thee.
But in most cases when you’re out, you don’t want to disturb others with your music, whether be it indoors or outdoors. Unless you’re in the wild. So headphones are still mandatory I think.
Mpc live 2 is exactly what I was looking for something extremely portable when I'm getting loaded or unloaded. Ima truck driver. But I currently using ni mk3 love it❤💯.i have bluetooth beats speakers but 2 have it all in 1 unit is awesome. Can just pull it out & get bizzy creating beats
currently killing the mpc series akai stop and put a machine out every 2-3 years not every year, straight your turning hiphop into the next apple products.
Thanks this helped me choose the original MPC Live. It has more connectivity than One but is 350 less than the 2. Ultimately that difference is not worth the speaker, cv and a few extra buttons since the first 2 are not necessary for me. I do think the One has a tremendous amount going for it especially ergonomically with the screen above the pads.
Really great review as always loopop! I owned the Mpc Live and now have the X and here’s my two cents from a user perspective: The Live mk I was already very heavy and big (considering an added carrying soft case) to be truly portable. It doesn’t fit in a “regular” back pack if you want to take much else along inside with it. It also was not very comfy in a tight space like an airplane seat (economy😅). The op-1 and deluge are much better options if you really want to be on the go, much more so now, with the added weight and size of the mk II. It’s a wonderful machine, but not really ever knowing what the q-links did and their page dependent behavior made them a workflow killer and almost unusable. They happily made them a bit better now with the 2.8, but not having dedicated physical buttons makes you overuse the screen, falling into an “ipad with pads” sensation, which many don’t enjoy (myself included). Finally, the position of the pads to the side of the screen feels awkward vs below it as in the One or the X. As for the Mpc X, even though it’s the same software, it truly feels like an entirely different machine and fulfilled every expectation I had when I bought the Live. The many buttons and led strips on the q links make everything extremely fast and intuitive, and I barely touch the screen at all. I say this because I feel that the availability of physical buttons and it’s workflow enhancement benefits are often underrated, mostly because having them there enables muscle memory to quickly kick in and makes the whole process more streamlined and natural. I can honestly say that the X is worth the price tag. Having said that, and knowing that the X is not in everyone’s budget, I would highly suggest getting the One with a portable battery and a mini midi keyboard like the arturia in your video over the Live (mk ii or mk i) if you want a portable and enjoyable MPC (it will probably be cheaper as well). Believe me that those extra buttons will make it worth your while. For those interested, in the next few weeks I’ll be posting a series of videos called “Sampler Wars” on my channel, making tracks with the same base audio samples on my MPCX, Octatrack mk2, Op-1, sp 404 and digitakt. The idea is to have a little fun while also comparing workflow, strengths and weaknesses, and end outcome, all from a practical, “regular user” point of view. Hope you check it out. Cheers!
@Midlife - I appreciate your thoughts!! Having not used the MPC X, but owning the Live 1 & older MPC for many years, I know exactly what you’re saying. I’m not a big fan of touchscreens, but my biggest issue is not having that muscle memory you speak of....it’s soooo important with instruments and creative tools. The quicker you can translate an idea in your head to a sound on your instrument, the better (usually). I think companies & developers (like Akai w/ the modern MPC line) forget that this is a tool for making something. I could imagine them sitting in their office and focusing too much about what they can do, what they can add, what “gonna get all the kids talking”..... rather than seeing the whole picture and asking themselves (and real musicians) if their decisions actually make their music-computer-tool better or worse? When I’m looking at the MPC Live (1 or 2), I feel like they dropped the ball in this area. The Live seems to get in my way too much - and even after learning it well. My old MPC 1000 and 4000 took longer to really learn, but after that, using them was a much, much better creative experience, (when comparing to the Live). We can do all this stuff on our computers, so Akai, please remember why we’re paying extra to NOT use our computer all the time. If you make products that make me feel like I’m at work or at the ATM then I’m going elsewhere.... (I’ll admit, I haven’t used the MPC One, so it may be as simple as getting that) But when looking at the MPC X, Akai’s vision starts to make sense to me....it’s the device where they didn’t get rid of all the things that made the originals great....and Midlife, when you spoke about the physical layout and not having to use the touchscreen much, that’s exactly what I was hoping to hear :) At this point I think I’m just as likely to sell my MPC Live & move on, as I am to double down and buy an MPC X....but who knows.... Also.... Akai lost a lot of my trust when they originally released the MPC Live....with all its missing features.....I still kept it, and checked the forum daily for a while....but then I moved on and used the Live for maybe 1/3 of what I was hoping to use it for....also, it never feels good to support a company that releases half-finished products....Because , why wouldn’t they continue to do that?....they get your money either way....and one method is faster and cheaper.... Firmware 2.8 is a great update!!! It feels like the firmware this generation of MPC’s were meant to ship with....not WAY later and with the version 2 of their product.... BUT.... I am soooo excited for the MPC Live 3, with it’s electric toothbrush and an alarm clock!!! Who would have thought that the electric coffee warmer next to the speaker would be such a good idea??!! That said, my favorite feature of the Live 3 has to be the dog treadmill!! Now Sparky get his walk, and I make the soundtrack!! Ohhh Akai, the rest of them just don’t understand.... :)
i would buy a mpc live 2 just for portability reasons... what i really wish for the next generations of mpc is upgradeable ram and Cpu to make a monster that compeed in 3 years too (edit - is there a way to see the pitch of a sampled vocal? it would be superb if i could match a samples pitch on a very visual way not just shown in numbers... i have a way in mind , but i guess the engineers at Akai would come up with some nice visual solutions!)
Agreed with audio I/O. Would be great to use the unit as an effects processor for external instruments live, I do that with my Octatrack to process my synths (and use as a send return for external effects). And again, if they EVER implement disk streaming for long samples, then this really is the number one instrument for live bands of all kinds. I'm beginning to think it won't happen although I felt the same about multitimbral midi so who knows!
That MPC one is a beast of device, I love it. The buttons and the form factor is great. I have a SD card and I save everything on there so the memory is no issue. As for the battery, I use my MPC at home or at friends so thats not a issue for me.
You can also get a portable battery for it to bro. Wish it had an internal battery but again that won’t keep me from saying the One is a great machine.
The life cycle of the battery is always a concern in anything like the Live 1/2 … 🧐🤔 And whether having it wall-powered most of the time is still affecting your internal battery’s life …
I know the software is exactly the same, but the buttons and buttons placement actually describe a different workflow for them both, so it would of been nice to do an actual side by comparison. Visually all we see is the Live II. Feels one sided.
MPC One should've had USB 3 and 2 Pair of MIDI I/Os! Also, I guess it 's not such a big deal, but why not include a ext. Hard Drive slot on the MPC One??? Oh well...I have it and I'm going to do all I can to get the most out of it and the 2.8 update! Thanks again for your vids!
@Daenerys Targaryen Yes Yes it does, but you can't deny having a slot for and ext/int hd. like they have o n the Live. That would be an added convenience.
Nive vid as always tks ! Came here to knew if I needed this to replace my MPC live I, ended ordering that NDLR lol !!! Didn't knew that beast ! Thank you !
i made a beat on the mpc live 2 ' and i got a good mix inside the box from what i thought through the internal speakers ' did a quick recording and ended up keeping that beat as is
Fantastic video. I bought a Live approximately four months before the Live II came out (of course, my luck), and it's cool to see the differences between the two broken down as you have in this video.
I love my One, but it’s not with out it’s quirks. 2 Major downsides after a couple months of heavy use I broke the play/start button. Also the screen isnt as sensitive as my homie’s Lives. It also plays random Wavs from my flash card when I’m using the “save as”function. I’ve learned to live with these things. It hasn’t ever crashed. I leave it on for days sometimes. All around I’m super stoked on it.
I sold my mpc live a year ago and I just got the MPC ONE, and yes. The One is the clear winner. Size, price, physical controls and the screen looks much brighter. Just wished it had the dual midi in and outs. My eurorack and synths are all driven, sequenced and Sampled by the ONE... Love it
@@oldschoolebm666 How do you go about sampling the same synth that you are midi controlling with the One? I have an old 2000xl and I need to record to computer then sample into the MPC. Does the One allow sampling of a midi controlled instrument as its simultaneously being controlled by the One? That would be sick.
The speaker on the new live proves just how much akai is out of touch with the consumers I've never heard of anyone say that a built in speaker would be a good idea
As a super long time mpc user, i think that’s cool... jam anywhere without headphone... i got a live, but the speaker on live two makes me want one... also when working with someone else, you can hear what they do, and you can both listen quickly without a splitter and two pair of headphones. Wanna hear quick a vocal track playback... nice when at someone else house.
They target younger kats because they be comin up plus ma& dads footin the bill the kids will surely love blasting that shit at school to their friends while other kids freestyle on top etc
I think one of my biggest next feature requests (which I dont remember if i submitted), is a parametric EQ with spectrum/frequency real time analysis. man that would help so much when trying to mix down just seeing the frequencies in the box in real time and cutting resonant peaks and Eqing. Maybe even better graphics on like the compressors as well. think kind of like a DAW or Quantum/iridium.
oh and I would really love if the clip launcher launched midi clips. that would be great when your trying to perform live and not trying to loop things constantly when you could do a more comfortable performance just launching midi and audio using the clip launcher.
Most people are mad that they purchased their Live 1 right before the release of the 2 and feel cheated. The negative comments is their way of dealing with it. Lol
I was hoping Live 2 would be an MPC One with battery and more connectivity. This seems like a complete flop with speakers nobody asked for. We have tons of bluetooth speaker options already no point to build that in. Disappointed.
Yeah I've got two pieces of gear with speakers (Novation Circuit and Volca FM) and it's such an unnecessary feature. Anyone this far into production would never use built-in speakers seriously, and if they needed to would at least hook it up to bluetooth like you said. Not to mention most will be using their headphones regardless. It's annoying to see it being thrown into devices, as it adds cost and takes up space.
I thought it would have some new and different features that would improve it to the point were i would be very excited to purchase one. I own the mpc live and i'm tryna see if they have at least improved the note repeat function on the mpc live 2
@@knocturnaljimmy I actually forgot that the Novation Circuit had a speaker. That's how much I use it. Live mk1 is cheap in the stores that still have stock. Practically the same price as the One so...
I've been getting more into the MPC workflow since they released MPC Beats. I still can't understand why they would get rid of a dedicated Prog Edit button (like the MPC Studio has)... or hell, most of those dedicated buttons. Prog Edit is where a lot of time is spent, at least from my limited experience. The +/- buttons are pointless, considering they are right next to the main jogwheel/encoder. They do exactly the same thing as the main encoder. Why couldn't both of those (+/-) buttons been Prog Edit and/or Sample Edit? Again, I think Sample Edit should not be a shift function. The MPC Studio got it right. The Live should have followed with it. They all could have fit on the faceplate. I'm not the biggest Akai fan (not even close) but I picked up an MPC Studio (black) to tie in with MPC Beats, and I'm having a lot of fun. Considering the Studio can be found used for about $200... the software is where I'm looking, most of the time (unlike Maschine MK3, where I'm only looking at the Maschine screens). I think you get the best of both worlds with the Studio. I almost feel like the touchscreens aren't really needed. Because they never were with the original MPCs. The q-links can let you chop samples, etc... which is faster than dragging your finger. I don't know... as much as I want to like Akai and the MPC Live/One... I feel like they got it right before these even came out. Also........ why... the hell....... are the q-link encoders VERTICALLY, but they are assigned HORIZONTALLY.............. totally....... insane. But beyond that, keep the dedicated buttons. Most users want them. Including you, Loopop! :)
This is the guy that sold me on the MPC ONE. Then I got the X a couple weeks later. Coming from FL studio, I can't say that I'm disappointed one bit. A better piano roll in the software would be nice. But other than that, these are probably the best machines on the planet for digital production with a hardware feel. There's not much competition. Hopefully machine ups it's game instead of that toy they released so akai will be forced the keep improving the MPC/Force line. Fingers crossed 🤞
Hello, great video, just had a question about the MPC live II. I am planning on taking the live II with me when travelling on international trips, just wondered if I could use an international plug converter or would I need a transformer when using the 19V MPC power supply? Love the content keep up the great work, Thanks, RMS
Thanks! On the power supply I have there's no need for a transformer - just an adapter, but an easy way to find out is, if it says 110v-240v on the power brick you're good to go. If it just says 110v, you'll need a transformer.

Which one did you get ?
What about now that they raised the price 200 bucks?
@@Reticuli whats hilarious is that i preordered my mpcone back in 2020 when they were outa stock and got is for just under $600...nor tax either. seeing it for $900 😭😭 still worth the money though imo... i recall ppl was bitching over the $700 price, smh
@@chadduncan9716 whats good about having more midi?
man your reviews are really concise and well put togther - it's such a massive help, thanks!
It seems like Akai def listens to loop pop’s suggestions and this is great news.
Wow, congrats loopop ! You'll probably cross the 100K subscribers with this video !
Awesome and very helpful in considering these machines. TH-cam's time stretch works well enough that I can slow loopop down to .75 to follow him better and he still sounds fairly natural. This saves me having to go back and replay segments.
23:20 Man, and they actually listened to you with update 2.10 :D congrats
I watch this channel for full and professional reviews on products, great video Loopop thank you...👍💯
oh wow yeah dude the "pro ten" setting cut that choppiness in half at LEAST. That's a huge difference fr, very nice!
I know your review will be fair and unbiased thats why I always watch yours fisrt.
Very thorough, nice, and easy to understand tutorial / review. This proved very helpful. Kind regards!
MPC Live 2 is the best middle of the road choice between MPC One and MPC X. Plus the portable factor and speaker are a bonus.
That’s what’s selling me rn
I really want an MPC but I’m a super beginner. This video helped out a lot thank you!
I'm a beginner as well. Which one did you end up buying?
I have my MPC Live (Mk I) and it's incredible ! The included plugin synths made it even better.
Agreed! Really hoping loopop does an in-depth video on the included standalone synths!
This is the perfect solution to take my studio out of the garage! great review as always man!!!!
I hope Akai is watching you and taking notes!
100k subs just around the corner, well-deserved too.
Great video as always!
thank you for showing all 3 on the same table. i wanted to get a better idea of the size for each for my own layout. the One is actually smaller than i expected.
a speaker test outside with data? You spoil us on this channel. Thanks for another great video.
Best reviews on the internet period.
As always..an excellent review. To the point, and without unuseful extras...
As for the Live...
I'll get any MPC Live when they fix the disk streaming issue.
They've been promising it for years, now..
Thank you for Thank you for this round up ;)
Cheers from Portugal
They never promised disk streaming, the only thing someone from Akai mentioned on Gearslutz is they're "looking into it"...
Looks like AKAI is using your channel as their source for improvements :P
My pleasure :)
Gotta get the X for that lol
Re: add a Mic input - 100% agree!!!
The Live 1 (& 2) are both screaming for an input that takes Mic & Instrument Level!!!!
Sure, it’s on the MPC X, but that’s not portable or in the same price range.
If they would have added that to the Live 2, I would have upgraded in a heartbeat.... without that, I’m fine with my ancient and outdated Live 1 :)
I wouldn't recommend using a Bluetooth speaker to perform, the lag would make things very awkward.
@@scotth4224 lol Eye wouldn't call our Live outdated. It is up to date and can do everything these other two can do as far a production is concerned

Getting mine in 3 weeks. Backordered. Can’t wait. 😬
Love the form factor of The MPC ONE..
Me too. An MPC ONE with a battery
Would of improved the standalone portability concept. The LIVE is a bit awkward to pack up as is.
As usual, outstanding content. Just the video I was searching for so I could compare what the different features were and how they might matter to me.
I really hope that AKAI listens to you about the Ableton or Maschine like Scenes!
Thank you for your content!
This live looping jam is so beautiful!!!
Great vid! Personally, the 31 buttons on the One make all the difference to me! ....including the form factor & price :)
currently killing the mpc series akai stop and put a machine out every 2-3 years not every year, straight your turning hiphop into the next apple products.
you don't need to buy them. just remove yourself from the apple mindset. You don't need the latest to make music.
Thanks this helped me choose the original MPC Live. It has more connectivity than One but is 350 less than the 2. Ultimately that difference is not worth the speaker, cv and a few extra buttons since the first 2 are not necessary for me. I do think the One has a tremendous amount going for it especially ergonomically with the screen above the pads.
the thing I love the most about the One is its layout, similar to the old MPCs.
@@dammau2096 Yeah I think it's set up better no doubt.
Best reviewer ever existed.
And finally the summer pack: Akai mpc live 2, sunglasses, towel, a beer and an umbrella. Beach, I can't wait!
Way to go Bro. Very well demonstrated!!!!!
Wow seeing them all together is baller af
Really great review as always loopop! I owned the Mpc Live and now have the X and here’s my two cents from a user perspective:
The Live mk I was already very heavy and big (considering an added carrying soft case) to be truly portable.
Cheers!
@Midlife - I appreciate your thoughts!!
(I’ll admit, I haven’t used the MPC One, so it may be as simple as getting that)
But when looking at the MPC X, Akai’s vision starts to make sense to me....it’s the device where they didn’t get rid of all the things that made the originals great....and Midlife, when you spoke about the physical layout and not having to use the touchscreen much, that’s exactly what I was hoping to hear :)
At this point I think I’m just as likely to sell my MPC Live & move on, as I am to double down and buy an MPC X....but who knows....
:)
Congrats on the 100K subs!!
You earned them ✔😃✨
i would buy a mpc live 2 just for portability reasons... what i really wish for the next generations of mpc is upgradeable ram and Cpu to make a monster that compeed in 3 years too (edit - is there a way to see the pitch of a sampled vocal? it would be superb if i could match a samples pitch on a very visual way not just shown in numbers... i have a way in mind , but i guess the engineers at Akai would come up with some nice visual solutions!)
Wow! Thank you thank you thank you for showing how to connect the NDLR to the MPC Live II!
What is better about the mpc one over the live 2? And vice versa ?
The life cycle of the battery is always a concern in anything like the Live 1/2 … 🧐🤔
And whether having it wall-powered most of the time is still affecting your internal battery’s life …
I was thinking the same thing. I'd want to a couple of replacement batteries from the get go, if possible, and swap them in from time to time.
you are the best gear channel
THANK YOU!! This is exactly what I needed. 🙏🏽
I know the software is exactly the same, but the buttons and buttons placement actually describe a different workflow for them both, so it would of been nice to do an actual side by comparison. Visually all we see is the Live II. Feels one sided.
Thank you @loopop . You are Always sharp and on point !
I managed to pick up a store demo Akai live v1 for $650 Canadian, arrived today, it's mint, pretty excited to figure it out.

MPC One stands out to me as the winner, as both a studio brain and standalone unit.
Can anyone who owns either product convince me otherwise?
No additional outs on One is a big no for me when playing live ...
Awesome review, great insights & demonstration.
The speaker on the new live proves just how much akai is out of touch with the consumers I've never heard of anyone say that a built in speaker would be a good idea

I think one of my biggest next feature requests (which I dont remember if i submitted), is a parametric EQ with spectrum/frequency real time analysis. man that would help so much when trying to mix down just seeing the frequencies in the box in real time and cutting resonant peaks and Eqing. Maybe even better graphics on like the compressors as well. think kind of like a DAW or Quantum/iridium.
oh and I would really love if the clip launcher launched midi clips. that would be great when your trying to perform live and not trying to loop things constantly when you could do a more comfortable performance just launching midi and audio using the clip launcher.
looks like I'm the only one who likes the speakers. super convenient
I don't get the deal with the speaker-bashing, I love them on mine!
They’re fine,
Most people are mad that they purchased their Live 1 right before the release of the 2 and feel cheated. The negative comments is their way of dealing with it. Lol
The built-in spk is not that bad.
The bass really surprised me.
Live 2 has a battery
Speaker can be turned off
I thought it would have some new and different features that would improve it to the point were i would be very excited to purchase one.
I can't believe more people aren't running with the format of the DJS 1000. I would love to have a synthesizer in that format.
+1 for a sound design video on the standalone plugin synths!
Your comments about mpc Beats and the Studio are under every mpc Video on youtube 😆 Even on Instagram LOL

That speaker grill full of dust in no time... my OCD shudders.... :) BTW I like the new timeline, that must take a lot of work, thanks.
Lol, nah that's true tho. Im cool with the speakers but first thing I thought was the dirt getting the speaker
I would hope blowing it out with canned air occasionally would work ok. I bet someone comes out with a cover for it when speakers aren't in use.
You should make your famous ‘Hi’ intro available for a message ringtone 👍🏾
In MPC LIVE II Can you send a sound to multiple outputs at the same time?
