I'll tell you what. This couple raised some children who never had an ounce of pride or conceitfulness in them. They were the most sincere traveling singers you could find.
I can proudly say that they are native Alabamians. Double Springs, AL in Winston County. God Bless you as well. We are blessed to have these wonderful videos to bless each day.
I still sing the old time hymns give me the old time religion I don't want that new stuff, the new stuff isn't soul stirring they're more like flesh pleasing
Ginger married Wally Laxson...I'm not sure is she is still alive. This is one of my favorite songs...great harmony. I cant wait to sing with mom and dad Speer when I get to heaven
Brock Speer passed away in the late 90's. Brock's wife, Faye Ihrig Speer died in 2015. Mary Tom died in 2014 and Rosa Nell is still alive as I write this (2016). Ben Speer is still going although he was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The piano player in this video, Ginger Laxson is still alive and is musical director at her local church alongside her husband.
Luke Stamper Ben is now sadly deceased. may he sing with his momma brother and daddy forever this beautiful song praise God I'm a child of the King. rest in peace dear brother. your work is over and your eternity of peace joy and love has just begun. for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Classic old hymn. Love the bass part. I play and sing bass. Are Mary Tom and Rose Nell still alive? I know Brock passed in 1999. His wife is still living. Are the sisters still alive?
Yes, younger brother Ben Spear is alive. He is about 83 now. You can see him as the music arranger on Bill Gaither videos. Ginger Smith playing the piano is still alive. She married a minister. Dad Spear wrote so many wonderful songs. They have always been my favorite singing family. I take pride in the fact that they are from Double Springs, AL.
Can someone please tell me if ginger smith is still alive i have the same style as she does when i play the piano i ould really like to know if she is... God bless (:
That is a question that I can no answer for sure. A friends says that she heard Ben say that "I am the only one left". But I have search the internet and I can't find conformation of the sister's passing. I will continue to search. Thanks for your interest. They are the best Gospel Music Family ever in my opinion.
From what i heard both of the sisters are alive and the reason of Mary Tom being in a wheelchair is because she was in a car accident and she broke her hip god bless.(:
1. Time has made a change since my childhood days; Many of my friends have gone away, Some I never more in this life will see Time has made a change in me. Chorus: Time has made a change in the old home place; Time has made a change in each smiling face, And I know my friends can plainly see Time has made a change in me. 2. In my childhood days, I was well and strong I could climb the hillside all day long, I am not today what I used to be Time has made a change in me. 3. When I reach my home in that land somewhere, With my friends who wait to meet me over there, Free from pain and care I'll forever be, Time has made a change in me.
This is the first time I've ever seen Ben and Brock's parents! (Now be honest, if you didn't know that was Brock singing, how many of you would have recognized him)? And that's BEN?! I wouldn've recognized him even les
Yes, Rosa Nell is almost 90. She still drives and teaches in the Alabama School of Gospel Music. Rosie is doing well. Mary Tom is still here with us as well.
I'll tell you what. This couple raised some children who never had an ounce of pride or conceitfulness in them. They were the most sincere traveling singers you could find.
I am glad these videos exist.
I can proudly say that they are native Alabamians. Double Springs, AL in Winston County. God Bless you as well. We are blessed to have these wonderful videos to bless each day.
