  • This Decoration Day, take a moment to appreciate an American classic, which was undoubtably heard by hundreds of thousands of soldiers who fought for their country during the American Civil War… “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
This Fife and Drum tune was filmed during a jam session on the original Ground of Chancellorsville Virginia, played by the renowned Carolina Fife and Drums, joined by the 3rd United States Volunteers Fife and Drum. The lead, and multiple Confederate musicians are members of the Broken Toys Mess.
Thank you to the musicians, event staff, and the 1781 Brewery, for hosting this phenomenal event on the original Battlefield ground where General Jackson lost his arm.
Enjoy your Memorial Day, and remember the sacrifices of those who gave their all, for our future.
~ Thank you for watching, and have a historic day! ~

@@HistoryBoy Dan sickles he treated his men like red shirts on star trek. Lost a leg at Gettysburg. It was a bad day for him but a great day for the union army. He killed Francis Scott key's son across the street from the white house. First man in US history to be found not guilty due to mental disease or defect. Look him up and you will find out he was a real asshole. But he did receive the medal of honor for his actions at Gettysburg. When he should have been Court martialed.

Ah. at last year's Civil War reenactment the Fife and drum band struck up this song and all of us on the union side began singing. I can't wait until this year's reenactment.
    Great video 🎩🎩

That sounds like a remarkable time. In our parade, just today, all of us began singing when the drummer started playing the song. A similarly touching experience which pulls you back in time, and connects you with those soldiers of the past.
