I went on SWR's 707 on Thursday 11th of April 2024. 707024 and 707030 is normally coupled together to form the rarest train on SWR even there is more class 484s units in the SWR fleet instead of the 2 class 707 units. Try to hunt the SWR 707 down and ride it (the Southeastern 707s do not count) I'll give you a clue that it is found on a route that a class 455 or even a 458 travels on.
Southeastern should look after the Class 707s with more being transferred from South Western Railway. And Siemens could have built more of the Class 707s not just for Southeastern but also for Southern to replace the Class 455 used on the suburban services in South London.
Mind you I think that Siemens should continue on manufacturing more Class 707s for Southeastern and Southern. And South Western Railway to keep the Class 707s.
Fair point. Perhaps Siemens could build more Class 707s for Southeastern and to transfer the Class 376 to Southern and to upgrade the Class 376 with air-conditioning and to replace the hopper windows.
The 707 actually started with South West Trains before going to South Western Railway a few weeks after then the 707 went to southeastern after the 465/466 was going to be withdrawn
I would imagine if Siemens could manufacture new trains to replace the Class 465 and Class 466 and to have toilets fitted as the Class 707 doesn’t have toilets.
