I love Playa Blanca, and can be found there through the winter. There are signs that say bicyles are banned along the sea front, but no one obeys that rule, you see them all the time weaving around pedestrians.
Thank you that was very interesting as I have been looking at the scooters on our visits. As you say no one wears a helmet but are you are supposed to wear a motorbike standard helmets not a cycle helmet. As you are out there are you able to establish the caliber of helmet required. Cheers
Im in Lanzarote at the moment (June 23) and it appears all the Link scooters have gone. I'm gutted as i found these really handy to get about on in Fuerte Ventura last October. I saw lots if people riding Xiaomi scooters but not sure if they are for hire or peoples personal property. The lime green/yellow scooters are conspicuous by their absence on the roads/pavements and none are showing in their app either 😢
@@MrTravelONWorld Thanks for the reply. We are currently in Puerto del Carmen. Hopefully they will be back before we leave. I believe if rididen responsibly, they can be a great asset. Unfortunately the majority of people don't do responsible these days unless it suits them. Allowing 12 year olds on a scooter is asking for trouble 😬. Especially as the link ones are quite hefty too.
I’ve just hired one following your video, I did notice their extremely expensive. Cheaper to walk ! Also as you mentioned yeah vey dangerous, this is coming from someone who builds diy off road ebikes, those are dangerous the scooters are allot more sketchy and most brakes are shot
@@MrTravelONWorld just a update….after a few more days here, anyone looking to get around easy should hire a electric bike, it’s 100 euros for the week with no deposit, that money is nothing compared to the cost of the scooters!
@@madnlooney yes I've actually been and tested them . Think these scooters are technically capable of around 60 miles on a charge not that you would want to drive them that far. Good fun tho
I believe it s the same thing as with every invention. It s not the gadget that s wrong, it s the people who don t know, don t care about using it properly. Therefor it s the people who put themselves and others in danger and into annoying scenarios, not the scooters. Very useful video though, thanks for posting.
Puerto del Carmen is of course beautiful, however it is totally unsafe for walking and pedestrians. The promenade along the sea front is given over to cyclists, link scooters, and electric powered vehicles resembling bicycles. Most people use this responsibly but a significant minority behave as hooligans without regard for others. Pedestrian crossings are very dangerous, one way streets, street cafes and hotel pool areas are “aim and go areas”. Walking safely here takes the same concentration as motorway driving.
we arrived in puerto del carmen yesterday and we both are already so fed up of these things and the numptys using them.. having to constantly move out of the way when trying to take a stroll along the front is not the way we like to holiday, im sure in the next 2 weeks were going to see sombody fall flat on their face or flat on their 5 year old whos hanging on for dear life,, either that or an unknowing pedestrian is going to get seriously injured when hit by 1, safe to say we will be staying well clear of hiring 1 of these and the authorities should seriously think about getting rid too.
Noticed on your video , the fools walking on the cycle path!! They'll be the ones complaining about being hit by one. I use them often in lanzarote if you stick to use a bit of common sense they're quite safe...
Great channel by the way,,, especially when i need a glimpse of the sun and blue sky..🌞
ha Ha yes keep you going thanks for watching

Yes its sooooo annoying ha ha
Same in Playa Honda
It’s pretty perfect for riding a bike though isn’t it

Looking at it as a way to get around? How far can you go on one of these? Are they limited to a certain area only?
Hey as far as you like and no limits Matther

I don't mind if they just hurt themselves, that's fine, but they invariably hurt pedestrians.
totally
