He's 71 now, has not put out new music since the 80's but still tours and sells out everywhere he goes. He was selling out Madison Square Garden once a month but I'm sure he is staying home like everyone else right now. He's my all time favorite male singer.

He still performs, but has made the decision to not make any new music simply because he decided that he was kind of out of creative juice since being pretty satisfied with life. He doesn't get the respect he DESERVES! I think he's the best ever. But he pulled a rarity with his albums & they call it the "triple crown" cause "The stranger, 52nd Street & Glass Houses" all came out consecutively & they were monsters in both sales & the quality of the songs! 1977, 1978 & 1980. That's how close they were to each other! The man is beyond phenomenon & all written by him alone. Turnstiles was right before the stranger in 1976 & that had ny state of mind, say goodbye to Hollywood, angry young man... he is a monster!

The very last song, Keepin the Faith, explains why he put the album together and the video is pretty dang funny! "If it seems like I've been lost in Let's Remember, You think I'm feeling all around missing my younger days..." Give it a listen. So many good tunes.

I was born in 1971. MTV and puberty arrived at about the same time. Billy Joel is part of the soundtrack of my adolescence. All it takes is a few notes and I am back in my youth. I hope to see him in concert before he decides to retire. His songs are autobiographical, and imo, the genuine emotion in his writing is what makes his music timeless. I love your reactions--it's great you're open to many music genres and artists. I'd love to see your reaction to one of Billy Joel's slower songs. "Honesty" has always been particularly moving to me. Also, "Leningrad". Both of them choke me up if I'm not careful. Stay safe and groovy. ☮

Anybody notice the song being whistled at the beginning...it's the whistling part to the song "The Stranger".

The best part is that he did all the vocals himself as well as the percussive sounds. The only instruments used were a bass guitar and a snare drum.

April 25, 1961 is my birthday and I love that you point out the instruments...including the vocals. Check out Quincy Jones's Ai No Corrida.

it has also been featured in Glee, Family Guy and the Office?
Fun fact though it was arranged for a group such as what was shown. In actual fact ALL of the parts were sung by Billy
