To be able to lock down rangers you must understand their specific skills and traits that make them so hard to catch. Honestly... This is the series that pvp needed. Highly recommend!
My strategy is pretty simple: Evade their ranged "pew pew" burst while getting to melee range to them, then evade/side-step the GS combo. Then I burst them. That works on majority of rangers in both PvP and WvW.

I like how every warrior I fight thinks ranger counters them. Warrior has hard countered ranger since the beginning of the game, in fact warrior is the strongest counter to ranger. They simply have more evades/stuns/blocks than ranger has dodges and stunbreaks. Plus warrior can easily close the distance between them.
Ranger have more blocks,dodges and invis. Are you high?
As a main ranger, that is totally true. Warriors ARE the worst class to play against, especially spellbreaker.

Weaver ele might do well against them but core gets murdered in my experience
I love the series, but when you tell me to avoid/dodge 60% of their attacks I honestly do not know what to do any more.
maybe im not clear, but a lot of the things im saying to dodge are things they can POTENTIALLY have depending on their builds. There are trade offs that each ranger takes so when they have greatsword and longbow it means they cant use axe and warhorn, or if they take soulbeast they cant go marksmanship and wilderness survival and beast mastery. Its just things to recognize so you can scout out their build and what things to play around when u realize it.
