Dude. 9:52? It's like you're not even trying. Hit that 10 minutes and get that bread. It's so easy to see why you're at 27.5k subs and I'm in another world up here at 29.5k Get on my level. Also great vid as always. Keep it up.
I wish you made these videos 3 years ago, even when you cover old mechanics the videos are entertaining, detailed, informative, but also straight to the point. Looking forward to the next one =)
this was very helpful. When I saw others do it in-game or in youtube, I knew nothing of a flip cancel and thought you just pull your nose back instead of flipping.
Thanks Virge! I’ve been playing for a couple years and couples get this effing mechanic to work properly although coming across your video I’m confident to say I’ve learn the muscles motions to get it down pat. I went to training right after this video and got my first fast half flip in minutes!
Tbh virge I have doing my half-flips wrong all this time until I came to this video and It finally taught me how to Half-Flip properly thanks bro your awesome :).
Hey Virge, thanks a lot! I've owned rocket league for a pretty long time now but I haven't focused on ranked a lot. But now I that I'm playing ranked more I needed to work more on my mechanics. You helped me a lot. You get to the point and explain well what most people do wrong and how to fix it. I just wanted to say thank you!
I have 1k hours in RL since some time this week. I have shown half flips to I do not know how many people I played the game with, especially when we started playing it. Ironically, I was never able to do it myself, always absolutely screwing it over. Today, my usual 2s partner was like "Here is training pack for fast aerials" because he thought I didnt do them, so I did them, scolded him, told him to fix his STUPID ASS FUCKING KICK OFFS OH MY GOD and then seeked out improvement myself - RIGHT, MY HALF FLIPS SUCK! So I find this here video. Click. Listen. Mhm.. Yes.. Interesting.. ic.. "Make sure to hold for the cancel.." Wait wha.. Turns out, all I did wrong this entire time was I didn't hold the fucking stick long enough, so I didnt cancel the flip properly. Ty Virge, you just fixed my halfflip.
Whoa, you really did it! Thanks for another video covering the core mechanics, since most of these videos are at least 2 years old, it's always interesting to see how far the Pros are taking these techniques. If you are open for more video tips, then: Wall play. I've noticed that most of bronze/silver players have serious issues on handling the car/ball on the wall. So maybe you could explore this scenario and talk about offensive/defensive play while on it.
Homie... liked just for reminding me about the air roll left/right keybind. How tf is no one else talking about this?? Garunteed half flips no training required hell yes
THANK UUUU SOOOO MUCHHHH I was watching this other video it said Hold gas It will cancel the flip And it did work so i moved on to ur video Thats all i need to know how to cancel the flip Thank you🥺
Thanks for showing me other ways to use the half flip then just for going back on diagonal kickoff with your video. Now I’m going to screw around with it in freeplay.
I've been able to half flip consistently since I was in gold; only just starting to play RL last year but after watching this I'm realizing the thing that holds me back any time I try to regularly flip cancel is that I don't hold my stick back for the full duration of the flip. Thanks again for these truly informative vids, Virge.
Virge your playstyle is beautiful, if it's something you were interested in, I'd love to watch you live analyse your gameplay as well as your other content
Saw this video like two months ago when I was hard stuck in play and I didn’t understand it all and now that I’m diamond I’m starting to get it 😅 idk why this game is like this
"Okay, I got this. Hours in training? No problem" 20 mins later: Okay, i'm bored, time to queue up. Thankfully, I picked up half flips pretty quickly a few months ago. Love your vids bro! Don't stop!
@@Virge No I love you more btw I'm a big fan and watch every single tutorial that you made as if right now I mastered the basics and use most of them in ranked tyyyyy much love
I know this video is old (making this comment for viewers like myself), But I was struggling with the accuracy of my half flips and I've got 5k hours. so I shouldn't be. I figured out that it was Ds4 windows joystick settings specifically the Radial/Axial setting for left stick. Radial reads both x and y planes as 1 lump sum. Axial reads them separately as two sums independent of each other. So, Having it set to Radial for left stick is actually detrimental especially if you also have Square stick turned on. (which you should for faster recoveries from flips while making a play in the air) Turning on square stick and switching to Axial will have you feeling like you just upgraded your monitor to the newest and highest HZ. The difference is night and day in terms of 1:1 input/action on screen or more so the precision and accuracy of what you're attempting versus what you're seeing happen. Which we all know is often two different realities! lmao
In the last flip, my only problem is doing the diagonal movement. I use controller, i position the joystick in between the down left/right to do the diagonal flip but sometimes it doesnt go well, either it just goes to the side or just goes down and i am mostly sure i am positioning it in between. Deadzone options can affect that somehow? Short-story: Feels like the diagonal flip has a certain place to occur, if you turn the joystick slightly up or down it wont be diagonal.
It's really easy if you're on KB/M. You have to double jump while holding w/s and once you jump you have to hold both q and the opposite direction at the same time. Much Easier than on controller
Half flipping is pretty easy in kbm. I knew how to do that in the first week of playing the game. But flip cancel shots are way harder. Just until a week ago it felt like it's impossible, like my middle finger cant move fast enough from w to s. And then I realized I could just slide it across. First it seemed little weird, but it is fast enough and now that I've tried it out a little it's fine. I have like 700 hours now and it still feels I could do pretty much everything a controller player can do.
Hey man you should definitely mention what a half flip is instead of assuming your viewers already know. I just spent over an hour learning it wrong because I thought the purpose of the flip was to roll forwards not 180*. I was so confused why I was doing what you were saying and getting it wrong :(
How does sensitivities and dead zones affect how fast you can cancle a flip. I would like to be able to cancle my flips faster so I dont accidentally tilt my nose down while shooting.
Why aren't my half flips working with air roll right? Ive been doing them with air roll left for 4 years and it just sometimes doesn't air roll when i used air roll right
Hey Virge, I'm a Champ one in 3s and rumble (dropping in and out of C1 and D3), and it's mostly my aerials and decision making, any tips on how to improve these??
Hey Virge i have a question! I've been playing RL on and off since it came out and am currently C3. I feel like i am a good team mate but I'm unhappy with my mechanics. I've had a really casual approach so far focusing mostly on awareness, reading my opponents and things that doesn't really require practice, just playtime. A few days ago i decided to change that and set a really high goal for myself that i could only achieve if i really commit. Achieve grand champ and more importantly get to a point where i don't have to hope my teammates can make up for what i lack in mechanical skill. But at this point there's just so many things to learn that i feel a bit lost! I have been spending around 6-8 hours per day focusing on one thing at a time only moving on if my thumbs hurt from repetitiveness or if i feel I've taken a big enough step forward on the current mechanic. The thing is that everything I've tried to soak up and learn is starting to blend together and my mind feels a bit fuzzy now when i try to remember how to do things. So my question is, as someone who coaches pro players who spend incredible amounts of time practicing, how do i go about this daunting task without being overwhelmed? TLDR: I feel left in the dust (mechanics wise) but instead of quitting i want to commit and catch up, how do i organize my training/not get overwhelmed? (Don't know if this is a common enough problem for a video but i feel like you are the perfect person to shed some light and give some insights on this particular issue!) Thanks in advance, you're insanely inspiring and i really love your videos! :) Sorry for the text wall..
Wait, I got confused... are you recommending air bind on diagonal half flips? It looks like you're just using the left stick on some examples. Are there different variations of the diagonal half flip?
