@Cameraman Ron I feel like it's confusing to us as an audience because, people can go different ways. I don't still talk to my best friend every day, we may not see eachother for weeks, but when we get time...its epic. But it seems like there's just some divide now, and that isn't going unnoticed. None of you guys even really mention eachother anymore.

Penn Fierce combos are great, for anyone looking at something more solid than a $30 Walmart special, but not crazy expensive. Find the last years models and theyll be like 1/3rd the price of the current model ($130 vs like $50)

I fish the Texas coast line mostly, and then Pensacola when on vacation; For me, I like the UglyStick 12ft. surf rods. Sharks can bend them, but in 40 years, Ive yet to have any rod break while surf fishing.
Now, Let me also say this, I bought a surf rod, 10ft, at Academy a year or so back, and man oh man, do I love this rod. It is a 4 ounce casting rod, meaning 4 ounces of spider-weight and some sand fleas; and it is carbon fiber...light, easy to handle, cost me like $60ish dollars.....I love this rod. it is a H2O Express surf rod. Now, quality of this store brand stuff fluctuates, but the rod I have....ACES. I have mine paired to a Penn 5000 with 30lb-40 lb braid because I fish jetties with tons of oyster shells and crap.
I am so old, I can remember the old fiberglass surf rods that were over 5 lbs, with wooden handles and steel reel seats with 2 or 3 locking rings....TRUE TEMPER, sold at Ace Hardware and other places on the Gulf Coast. ugh.
In Texas, do not go small, lightweight reels.....dont. we have a crap ton of bull sharks in the surf and they get within touch distance of shore. A 4ft shark will wreck a 3000 size reel if it isnt high quality. If you hit a 6footer....youre done. I suggest a 4000 series reel with 20lbs drag or larger. Redfish and sharks do not play games when hooked from the beach, and lets not forget Jacks.

Lol Ron got his ears lowered and I’m talking about for real!!!! My man looks like he’s in the ARMY!!!!!! Before I see the not camera ready PYT and Ron saying he thinks he’s gonna like it…… Dude I’m promising you guys you’re gonna love it that is the best way in my opinion to cook a pompano you can pick off every piece of beautiful white meat there is!!! Here in North Carolina they have a nickname and they’re called the butter fish, we don’t add butter to a pompano. We add spices because they’re already sweet enough!!!!!

I bought low cost Bass pro surf rods when I came down on April. $30 each with Penn reels from Walmart. 7' rod snapped after 10 days but it put work in for those 10 days.

Ron whole pompano are best with a coating of a high quality Italian olive oil. I also put it inside with a little garlic. Try next time.
I had a bunch of olive oil on it I just forgot to show it!
@@CameramanRon I got brand recommendations. Not advertising for them. But it's really hard to find good olive oil. But anything with the N American olive oil association quality seal or the California olive oil council seal will be extremely high quality.
