hockey insiders like CJ make for the very best shows. I PRAY you have a whole bunch of these in the off season. for CJ.. 1:36 am west coast.. still listening
The episodes with CJ are undoubtedly my favourite episodes. I wish he wasn't as busy during the regular season that he maybe could come on more often. Quality.
Tom Priestley nobody on this roster is worthy of the captaincy. If this team had a real leader, we wouldn’t have sleep walked through the second half and given up in game 7. Matthews? One of the laziest players I’ve ever seen. Marner? Dickhead father and crazy contract demands. Tavares? Simply could not get it done in the playoffs. Reilly? Defensive liability.
Holy crap, Im not even a Leafs fan but this episode was amazing, guys. Getting to learn some of the inside scoops and stuff us fans don't normally get to know about from CJ is pure gold. I wish you guys could take some fan questions and just blast CJ for quick 20 second answers! Would be really cool!
CJ is great cuz he's their age, has a sense of humor, doesn't take himself too seriously, is knowledgable and not afraid to chip in suddenly. Great pod.
Fun Fact while I was looking at the NHL Trade History. Justin Holl was part of the Kovalchuck trade to the Devils.... :O Kind of insane to see that trade tree still going
That question about CJ's favourite/least favourite party towns was great, would be awesome to hear player's opinions on something about that or at least something similar the next time you get one on the podcast
CJ is probably my favourite guest on here, love everything he shares and as a regular fan, you learn so much behind the scenes stuff. That Tampa golfing thing blew my fucking mind.
I'm still here 2 hours in CJ. I loved this episode so much more then the last episode. CJ is a great guest would love to see him on more. Also lots to talk about with that Toronto series. I also wanna say I would never have heard of CJ if it wasnt for this podcast. I listen at work in the car and before bed. I have to work everyday and get 0 conversation about sports. These podcasts get me through.
I grew up in west St. Louis County. That area of St. Louis is about as bad as it gets. They need to do something about downtown. But you’re missing out if you don’t get out of the immediate downtown area. There is so much there. Great food and good atmosphere.
I looked through the names of all the NHL dmen making above 1 mil per, and yeah, piet makes the most sense. You probably don't get Nylander (rather Kappy, 1st, etc) for him, so I'm sure you're happy with how your team is doing lol
I think Steve may not have heard Chris at that moment since Adam chimed in right when Chris said "37" the first time. Or maybe Steve wasn't thinking about what Chris was saying and was thinking about something else. I don't know.
Mathews becomes captain his jersey sales will fly through the roof even more, who wants a Mathews jersey that doesn’t have a C on it, nobody’s going to buy the letter and put it on them self’s that’s not official. I’ll bet his jersey sales soar if he’s named captain
I left a comment on a recent SDP podcast, expressing my gratitude to you guys for providing quality opinions, that aren't the typical hot-takes we hear from some fans, or some in the media. I love the fresh perspective you, and your guests offer. Although, in listening to this one, I have to say, thank goodness CJ was present; to prevent this episode from turning into a full-blown echo chamber. Absolutely, after a disappointing end to a season, everyone and everything can be debated, and criticized. But Babcock was not the sole reason, the Leafs lost this series, again. And while you've begrudgingly said as much, you still give way too much of the conversation, to solely critiquing the head coach. It's never one thing. It's always a combination of factors that result the in a loss. The same is true for teams that win the Cup. Game six was our opportunity. The Leafs lost the series, then. Just like the team lost home ice, during the last month-ish of shitty play; when we didn't capitalize on the Bruins struggles. IMO, that's because of the players, which the GM had assembled, for the coach to play--all subject to the final variable, which is "luck". Each part has an equal responsibility. And for the life of me, I don't get this sudden "replace Babcock, with Keefe" narrative. AHL success, does not always equate to success at the Pro level. There's plenty of precedent for this. We saw it this year, with Sparks. We've seen it before, with Eakins. (which is not to say it can't work--I'm speaking to the fact that many are automatically anointing Keefe as the second coming) I've been watching the Leafs, for over 40 years. Outside of Pat Burns, Babcock has been the best coach we've had. Including the late great Pat Quinn (RIP). The strides this team has made, under him, Lou, Kyle and Shanny, are incredible, when you contrast previous Leafs eras. If Babcock doesn't improve over the next year, then rightly so, it should be time to consider moving on. But CJ is correct when he says (paraphrasing): "the fan base has been starving for years, and now we're complaining about the taste of the food". Which brings me to my last point. I'm 43 years old. I've been a long suffering fan, and will be one, till the day I die. I love the passion I see from younger fans, like yourselves. It reignites my own, after years of disappointing seasons. I also love William Nylander 😉. ✌🏻
If they trade kadri, I'd take him on my Flyers. Ghost as a key piece? They both make 4.5 million with ghost on the books for an extra season. Flyers get the 2nd line center they need so badly, leafs get an offensive Dman who can be paired with a stay at home guy, and work the 2nd powerplay unit.
In theory I have no problems with Hainsey coming back, but we know what Babs will do with him. Nothing personal Ron, I was rooting for you, but we have to part ways.
meh, i was always on kadri's side. the debrusk goof got away with 2 suspendable offences in 1 game (1 on kadri) and kadri tried to revenge those situations, ie: the only guy on the team, besides muzzin, standing up for himself or others.
I guess you also were on Kadri’s side when he laid the knee on knee hit to Rick Nash last year in Game 1 which was even worse then the knee he got from Debrusk, the hit on Marleau was not good those hits shouldn’t be attempted but to sit here and think it’s justified what Kadri did or call out other players for the same things Kadri has done is hypocritical
Nylander has a tonne of skill... he just doesn't seem to give a shit when he plays. That's my only real problem with him. As a fan, how can you cheer for someone who, game after game, doesn't look like they care at all!?
I would give Morgan the C, with Matty and Tavares getting the two A’s. If it’s Matthews with the C, it’s a win win. Big changes coming this summer. GO LEAFS GO!
At the end of the day yes it's up to the coach to give the players the best opportunity to win the series. But the players are the ones who also have to show up. Babs might have some issues to work on and adjustments but the series wasn't lopsided and we didn't have home ice advantage. I am personally gonna give Babs one more season before I get on board to get rid of him.
@@tmlfan7785 yeah but when the team is riding high breaking franchise records for wins who should be thanked for that? In the 2013 Leafs collapse in game 7, was it the coaches fault for that too? If we won game 7 against Boston this series everyone would be signing a new tune. We dont know what's behind closed doors and its not a matter of motivation to make your young stars perform. That comes with age and experience. Here in Toronto now we just want to fast forward to winning a cup which in hockey is not ever gonna happen.
kylepd100 millennials man. You can see it on the bench. Guys like Nylander, Gardiner, at times Matthews, they straight up don’t care. Guys like Hyman and Moore? They give a shit. Throw Tavares, Matthews, Kadri and Gauthier out as centres. Get rid of Nylander for literally anything, find a couple more Hyman or Moore type players, and we’ll be good for once. Throw Sparks into the sun (seriously, Game 7 would’ve been in Toronto if we had a backup goalie) and hope Liljegren/Sandin work out and can replace Gardiner and we’ll be even better.
I am over 42 and there is no way that I would trade Nylander from the Leafs. He will be a star in this league and you can pretty much guarantee that he will be if he gets traded.
C.J. could be on this show permanently. This was a fantastic episode!
69 likes. Noice
He should be. CJ is great. :-)
How is he great he’s fucking terrible ... a wannabe bob McKenzie
This would be amazing. I know he's busy, so maybe something like once a month? Even if it's only a 15-30 minute slot.
@@GamingCentral365 Since you have a Pens logo, think they will get rid of Malkin?
CJ in his jacket and tie is quite the sight juxtaposed with you guys lol.

for CJ.. 1:36 am west coast.. still listening
Judging by the position of the tray, looks like cj brought timmies for the boys. What a beauty 👍
Seriously. Guys makes a appearance on thier pod and brings timmies. What a guy
Kudos to Adam. Your so damn good at hosting and keeping the conversation flowing, etc. Makes this one of the best talk-shows/podcasts out there imo.
The episodes with CJ are undoubtedly my favourite episodes. I wish he wasn't as busy during the regular season that he maybe could come on more often. Quality.
It drives me nuts that sportsnet has guys like CJ and Friedman and give guys like Kypreos, Burke. Hrudy and MacLean the bulk of the spotlight.
Burke and Maclean are really good, I agree on Kypreos and Hrudy though. You only named two good ones though, maybe a 2 for 2 trade? lol
The truth is while I was listening to this podcast I never wanted it to end.
Hope CJ returns asap
keep it up boys

I really think Morgan Rielly deserves to be captain but man I really agree with CJs case for Mathews and his relationship to babs
Tom Priestley nobody on this roster is worthy of the captaincy. If this team had a real leader, we wouldn’t have sleep walked through the second half and given up in game 7. Matthews? The best part of these kinds of videos is that you can see what Jesse is doing on his computer.

CJ- the secret of St. Louis is the neighborhoods are the good parts of town. Downtown is picking up slowly but it’s way behind
CJ shouting out cobourg! I had no idea you were from here or played hockey against Justin! Two hometown hockey heroes in two different avenues
Woke up to this which is great.
I work at nationwide arena and the cannon is overkill, its loud af. Especially for Press Level personnel. The sound comes from the cat walk
As always great ep with CJ
CJ episodes never disappoint.
Props to the TTC bus doing a slow-motion appearance there.
I can't stop laughing about Steve telling Chris is the s in Johnson a money sign LOL

still listening...after more then 2 hours
1:21:17 I saw how quick you got the picks up Jesse, you didn't get to say it, but I saw
Lived in STL for years and yeah..stay out of downtown. The rest of the city is amazing tho
How has there not been a "The coffee is good" coffee partnership with tims or somewhere with good coffee
"It's our job to say: 'Hey, you did that thing the other day that wasn't so great... what do you THINK ABOUT THAT?"

I always thought Rielly would be named captain

Steve: “Mr. Game 7, how old is he?”

Too old for a diaper, and it just shit its pants. hahahahha best comment hands down

kadri's real issue is he should've crushed chara's head instead so boston played at their actual size level. once he's gone, they don't exist.
No sleep squad!!! Kinda
Slightly later than usual sleep squad just doesn't have the same ring to it
