she opened a restaurant on Kauai thirty some years ago. And had a home there. (that's more USA than some of the backward hating zones that tried to defect in the 1860s.)
I had no idea she was a star and performed way back then. She is so talented, entertaining, and beautiful. She was ranked top 2 in the world classical guitarist. She brings a smile to my face. O'le! ❤🎸🎤
I was floored when I heard her play years ago. You'd never guess Charo was a talented Spanish Flamenco guitarist what with her goofy "Cuchi Cuchi" persona. She began playing at the age of (9). She was mentored by the iconic Spanish classical guitarist Andres Segovia. She was married to the legendary Spanish bandleader Xavier Cugat for (12) years. So she is steeped in a musical tradition. Gorgeous!
I was born in 71 and all I knew about Charo was "koochy koochy" and seeing her pop up here and there(Carol Burnett and Friends,Love Boat,Bob Hope specials.etc).So when this originally aired,i was blown away.i had no idea that she played flamenco guitar..and plays it very well indeed.
I was born in 1969, and well up into the 80s, she was always playing on whatever show it was, Mike Douglas, whatever. CUchi Cuchi is part of the act, her gimmick. "Cuchi Cuchi" was at it's height when she was on "The Love Boat". Even in the 2020s, she's STILL fantastic!
Saw her on the Carson show, she didn't play and was treated as a Bimbo only years later did I finally find out who she really was and see her great musical performances! Damn Johnny Carson !
I know many guitarists that will impress you with rifs and fast fingering, but making beautiful music and fast finger picking is a beautiful talent Charo exhibits!
Those "fast guitarist" and virtuousos are just showing off and forgot that it's not a music school recital but playing beautiful and listenable music. Charo is a great guitar player and also look fabulous at the same time. Jealous people will discount her true talent because of her image. They're fooled by her appearance!
Wow, I had my eyes closed, enjoying that beautiful guitar playing, then it ended, too soon. I'll take acoustic guitar to any guitar playing any day. She's fantastic.
Love her, I remember when I was young I would go out by myself to latin clubs to dance, yes, baby! And men never disrespected me, a wonderful time, went home alone with a smile on my face!
@@professionalboycottservice7872 Is there a difference between that and acustic? I was just going by the title of the video. At any rate, she was fabulous 🎶 Her fingers moved as fast as those hips!
I really think all those appearances on The Love Boat hurt her career. I never knew until many years later how great of a player she is, I thought she was a joke.
She is very very talented excellent guitarist but she was so hot that people forgot that part... I've learned not to judge people by their appearance .
Can you give a timestamp to what you're talking about? I think it would be pretty hard to guitar sync with the speed of those notes. It could be there's an audio delay in your system. I think at one point in the late 90s she may have had another guitarist behind a screen playing with her, so it seemed like she was playing even more notes than she was, but that's the exception, I think, because she devoted herself to practicing and has been performing solo for the last 20 years or so.
And for the past 40 years or so I thought she was great. Boy, am I embarrassed. Obviously I should have been watching rather than listening, that way I would have know her playing isn’t effortless and therefore doesn’t sound as good as I thought it did.
Unbelievably talented lady. Play on Charo and thank you for joining us here in the U. S. A.

Never thought I'd say this, and I'm sure it's already been said, but Charo is one of the best guitarists I've ever heard.
She is one of the very best. She is beautiful and seems to be such a happy, happy LADY. Ive always enjoyed her spirit and talent. 😊❤
She dedicated many hours into getting that greatness on guitar.
She is among the greatest. Period.
Now you can see why Charo was voted #1 Flamenco Guitarist in the World TWICE by GUITAR Magazine!
There were TWO other reasons, as well: Cuchi Cuchi!
I had no idea she was a star and performed way back then. She is so talented, entertaining, and beautiful.
She was ranked top 2 in the world classical guitarist.
She brings a smile to my face. O'le!
❤🎸🎤

Yeah dude, I would never have guessed she could shred like that. So damn smooth.
That was amazing!!!!! Top
Level!!!
Poor woman got typecast in the US as a punchline on variety and game shows, but she was MASSIVELY talented.
Still is. Just played a gig in 2024

What an incredible woman she is.
She is a gem with a look.
I STILL HAVE A CRUSH ON HER... AND ALWAYS WILL....🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊
Wow... Shes really good on the guitar
Her teacher was Andres Segovia. Made him proud!

She is such a badass. She makes it look so easy.

Man I freakin love her ❤️ she’s amazing!
She is also a singer, love her.
The amazing Charo!
Brilliant player...🤟🤟🎸🥁✌️💜
Brilliant guitarist.
She is so good
I am a 50-something year old person and didn't not know that Charo was a guitar virtuoso.
Wow incredible never knew!!!
Bravo 👏 👏👏👏🌹 🕺 💃
This is a classical guitar. A type of acoustic guitar but with softer strings, softer sound, and less tension. This is nice.
She is very talented and has been performing for half a century. I have to wonder how anyone can have so much hair---so healthy and so beautiful, too.
another reason to love her
She's a master guitarist.
The Amore guitar. Charo is a master guitar musician!
Love her, I remember when I was young I would go out by myself to latin clubs to dance, yes, baby! And men never disrespected me, a wonderful time, went home alone with a smile on my face!
Wow 😮
BEAUTIFUL. I didn't know she played the acustic guitar. Gorgoues song.
Top flamenco player in the world!
She's a shredder
Classic Spanish Guitar

Bellísima
She was talented 👍
She's got serious chops.
Awesome
Didn’t know she played guitar
Flawless.

never seen her sing the biggest disco hit all over the world "dance a lit bit closer" live.... If someone has this video... please, post it here....
Damn, she's good.
Ay !! Que linda,que bonita.Charo mi amor,mi vida,mi corazon !!!! 🤣😁
Preciosa ..
Girl could play

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😍🥰
I really think all those appearances on The Love Boat hurt her career. I never knew until many years later how great of a player she is, I thought she was a joke.
Just imagine how beautiful and sexy she was in person for that to outshine her masterful guitar playing.
She plays good flamingo.
😱😊👌👍😻🇺🇲
Better than Van Halen!
They both great guitar players, just different style.
Yeah can't compare them. Eddie couldn't play flamenco like her and she couldn't play rock like Eddie could.
She is very very talented excellent guitarist but she was so hot that people forgot that part... I've learned not to judge people by their appearance .
Super hot and can play a hot guitar.
More talent than Raphael, Serrat, Sesto, Iglesias( both), Sanz and Bose put together....
GTFO!!! Did everyone else know she could do this? I did not...
CHUCHI CHUCHI.
This is "guitar synching" with a recording. We can see her struming in between falsetas and yet we don't hear it.

She seems very good, quite proficient.
But not great.
There is no effortlessness to her playing.

@@voxpopuli6781 well we all make mistakes.
@@paulsolon6229... I think it's you who's made the mistake. Sounded perfect to me.
I have been a pro guitar player for 45 yrs lets hear you play it hot shot
