Wow, just saw this video, wish I could have seen this a long time ago, I'm 57 been playing since 12, but seems I'm playing the same thing, now I feel I can do more, when I can money, will buy me an used Les Paul, thank you for taking the time out of your professional schedule to share this with us, I love your sounds, you're under my smooth jazz artists, please keep playing bro
Just want to say, I really appreciate you uploading these to TH-cam. I come back a few times a year just to get a refresher. Love these videos, they help me a lot. Take care.
Thanks for this lesson Mr. Jackson. Love your work in so many songs and albums, i didn't know it was you playing on those tracks from Micahel Jackson through Daft punk, but trying to get those sounds led me to finding you. Hope to meet you in person someday.
Hi Paul, have really enjoyed your guitar playing over the years with the Crusaders et al.. I am a guitarist myself and the titles here seem to alude that you have a course online? I wondered.. please could you send me a link to those? Thank you : )
I wish I could find some videos where someone teaches Paul’s style. I like Paul’s playing but videos like this go from beginner to advanced to quick. I got lost when he went to 6ths. I know what 6ths are eg A and F together however he seemed to be playing more than just an A and F when demonstrating the 6ths.
A 6th is just an inversion of a 3rd. Eg. In this example PJ plays A and C which is a minor 3rd, when we swap the notes around so that we're now playing C and A, we are playing a major 6th interval.
@@reedbass5644 oooooooh jeeez. I feel so stupid man. Thank you so much because i was thinking: How does he get a 6th?but not just one sixth but a few. Thank you thank you. So A-C C-E E-G There are three 3rds in Am7 therefore there are 3 6ths aswell. So simple yet my mind is thoroughly blown.

Hello Paul Jackson Jr. would it be possible to purchase this DVD from yourself?
He the man
💕
This guy is a Legend he also does some rhythm guitar for EIKO KAWASHIMA (ANRI)
What throws me is how you are getting 6th intervals inside an Am7 chord. This lesson threw me 10 years ago. I hoped id be able to get it now.
I guess you are pulling them from the key?
A 6th is just an inversion of a 3rd. Eg. In this example PJ plays A and C which is a minor 3rd, when we swap the notes around so that we're now playing C and A, we are playing a major 6th interval.

So
A-C
C-E
E-G
There are three 3rds in Am7 therefore there are 3 6ths aswell.
So simple yet my mind is thoroughly blown.
@@Ayo.Ajisafe When played in that order then they are 3rds. However when played as:
C-A
E-C
G-E
then they become 6ths.
@@ReedBass I got it. Thanks!
