Good choice John, I also have one the same No 482 in Western Australia, picked it up just over a week ago. I am 61yrs old, ridden all my life and this is my first ever Harley and I am loving it.
Thanks Wayne. Now that you have experienced the Motor Company's products at its best, you will NEVER look back. Also, on a side note, I have owned several GTO's over the years, including a brand new "Pontiac" (Holden Monaro - 6.0 LS2, 6-speed) that was a blast to drive. I currently have a completely restored black on black Pro-Touring 1970 GTO with 480 hp LS3 crate and Tremec 5-speed through the dealership that I am employed as the Sales Manager. www.RKMotors.com
Yeah, the torque that V twin produces is awesome, just getting used to the different riding style. My GTO was a HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) GTO V2 had the LS1, great car all Chev running gear with an Aussie designed and built body.
Those are great accessories for the long highway rides for sure !! If your going to be cruising in the city, those accessories simply can be taken off in a very short period of time ! Loving the engine guard & highway pegs all in one . Thanks for the video John !
Your correct about there being a lack of customization on this bike on TH-cam. It's a year later and you might find 5 videos on pipes. Hardly anything else other than the one red fatboy that has accessories or customization. Thanks for the video
Thanks for making this video. You've made a superb job of modifying your Fat Boy... and inspired me to build one as similar as I can. I found a used one the same today and put a deposit on it without riding it... so hopefully its as nice to ride as you said! The only Harley Ive ever tried was a Fat Bob... which was fun to ride, but the Anniversary Fat Boy just looked so much better. Cant wait to get one! Such a helpful video. Thanks again for making it 🙂
Thanks Chris! I made my videos specifically to help people like you. If the bike you are buying is anything like mine, you will LOVE it. It is the PERFECT "convertible" motorcycle with great looks, functionality and with the stage 2 kit (high torque), awesome performance with no sacrifice in smoothness or reliability. Happy to help!
Hi John. I'll hopefully find out tomorrow if I can get it... but your video made it a much easier decision. I think your bike looks beautiful... brilliant choices of upgrades, and great advice too. Fingers crossed I can get the bike and make it the same as yours. Who'd have thought a cruiser like the Fat Boy would have made a great tourer too! Im buying it out of my retirement money with a view as single person bike to tour in Europe. Ive got a BMW GSA 1250 for when my wife want to go away too. The Bmw is a great tourer, but doesnt have the same kind of Harley soul... not such a good cruiser neither 🙂 Maybe the Fat Boy will be the perfect second bike. Thanks again for your time and excellent video!
Awesome. I got the 107 and was thinking about the wind screen. I was worried that it will look weird but seeing your bike it looks great. I will get the wind screen. Thanks.
Brilliant review, really informative, and what a stunning bike, you have accessorised it beautifully, really tasteful. I love the anniversary colours, the contrasting stitching, the tank badges, the thought you have put in to your accessories to tie them in with the bike is fantastic. In approx 14.5 hours I will be picking up mine in Belfast N Ireland, mine is the 2 tone wicked red and twisted cherry with the 114 engine, totally standard brand new bike, I can’t wait, take care and safe riding.
Thank you so much my fellow Irishman and sorry for the delayed response. I appreciate the compliments. After a year and a half, I only have 1,800 miles on it so it is still like new. I will never sell this bike!

Congrats and nice review. I own the same bike. 190 out of 1100. I put the detachable bags and defiance grips and pegs. I did put the Screaming Eagle exhaust and tuner to make it a stage 1. Really easy to do. It's a little louder at idle and cruise, but when you nail it the pipes really wake up. Enjoy your bike!!

Hi Fred! Congrats on the bike.....I see the videos on the Jekyll and Hyde exhaust and the concept is similar to the electric cutouts on musclecars. Haven't seen any American distributors yet though. I would be curious to hear how they sound on your bike and if you have dyno numbers with the Stage 2 cam, that would be awesome! I am contemplating going further than Stage 1 but not if it's at the expense of smoothness, like I'm sure the horsepower cam would cause. After all of the talk on my video about how I intended to leave my bike alone, I just couldn't help ordering a set of Vance & Hines Eliminator 300 slips ons and the Harley Pro-Street tuner! Listen.....ah...music to the ears! th-cam.com/video/d6UgaK7lHh0/w-d-xo.html
John O'Neill hi John, Don’t have the torgue cam installed yet, I want too break in the engine first and then install the cam so i can feel the difference. Don’t know if I do a dyno on my bike yet, for now my bike is in winter storage hope not for nice weather soooooon. In Europa we have 2 manufactures for the exhaust Jekyll and Hide and Kess Tech. On TH-cam you can find them so u can compare the sound.
With just slip on mufflers, you don’t need a tuner. $450 for Vance & Hines twin slash slip ons, and they sound great. Way better than the factory mufflers in my opinion. I’d like to know how those bags have held up. Lots of mixed reviews on their website.
I have a 2018 Low Rider, the stock seat is very good - for the rider. But crap and very uncomfortable for the passenger - my wife is very critical in this regard. You didn't mention this aspect of the stock Fatboy seat. Higher up on my list of 'must haves' is handling and cornering clearance, hence I went with the Low Rider. If you say you haven't scraped, then I am not so sure you are riding spirited enough to suggest that the 240 rear tire is not a compromise by HD on looks over function. Reviewers who have actually pushed the Fatboy on mountain roads have a different opinion to you on that fat rear tire. That said, congrats on your bike, it not only looks great, but is very versatile and practical with those accessories. I have done the same to my Low Rider, except I went for the Memphis Shades Road Warrior faring (which I colour matched to the bike) and with a 17" screen for the highway. Of course, I replaced the stock seat with a Sundowner to keep the Mrs happy.
Hi Greg and sorry for the delayed response. Admittedly, I don't ride as aggressively as I used to but honestly, the 240 rear tire has never posed any handling issues for me. While I love a nice handling machine as much as the next guy, I prioritized acceleration and responsiveness and have no regrets.
@@marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038 also is that side bag water proof? Also I want to know wether they (rider seat and saddle bag) get affected by rain while riding. Thx love the videos . subscriber
@@tar21man I don't know because I've never ridden it in the rain. It still looks brand new. I suspect that the bags will not leak. Not sure how the seat would do in the rain but presumably, it would get somewhat wet but the windscreen would force most of the water OVER me, not onto me.
@@tar21man I answered that question in one of the videos; you did watch them all, right? I'm about 5'-07" to 5'-08" with a 30" inseam. The 19" screen is PERFECT for me.
How did the bags hold up? Just bought the 30th anniversary as my first Harley. Did you have to relocate the turn signals? TYVM for the video, your set up like I want, a light highway bomber.
The bags are still like brand new after over 2 years in both appearance and function. However, my bike has never been in the rain and miles are still under 2,800 so it is well preserved overall. I had my dealer install all of the accessories prior to delivery but I don't believe that the signals needed to be relocated. Last, you're welcome for the vids...hope you love your bike as much as I love mine. Set up with the touring accessories, it will be, as mine is, the perfect light highway bomber.
I don't recall as it was over 2 years ago when I bought the bike. My HD dealer in Matthews, NC carried them in stock at the time. Just call them or any HD dealer and ask them! They are Dynamic Ringz brand, if I recall correctly.
Nice video, beautiful bike! It's pity that you have no time for the long trips especially having such a powerful bike with all those accessories with most of the people just cannot afford.

Nice bike I didn’t know they did the limited addition anniversary with the Fat Boy. I was looking at the fat boy at the dealer and my wife saw the Ultra Limited Anniversary she feel in love with it and said buy it so no Fat Boy for a couple of years.
Both were acquired at the dealership at time of purchase. The license plate frame was on display and the signal relocator kit was straight out of the accessories catalog.
Hey John Which is a better bike Fat boy or Fat Bob I live in India so riding is very different here . Broken roads, sharp turn, crazy high humps/speed breakers. I am gunning for fat boy but also have the fat bob in mind. I currently ride a street rod
Hi Soham and thanks for the question. Anytime I can help a fellow rider, I will. I personally chose the Fatboy over the Fatbob not only because I like the styling better but also because I HATE the forward controls on the Fatbob. Floorboards (such as those on the Fatboy) or mid-mount controls are just ergonomically more comfortable and give you better control of the bike, in my opinion. They are also far more comfortable than pegs. However, the Fatbob is set up for more aggressive cornering (which is probably safer on your roads over there) so you will just have to test ride both to see which one you are more comfortable on. It's a tradeoff. With the roomy floorboards and a 240 rear tire, the Fatboy is more at home in a straight line (but still handles great) whereas the Fatbob emphasizes performance in fast sweepers. Whichever one you choose, buy the 114 engine instead of the 107, if in fact it is available in India. More torque equals more performance, even if the difference is not huge. Hope this helps!
Hi Ahsan. Thanks for the kind words. I LOVE my bike! Anyway, the cell phone holder is a genuine Harley-Davidson part but there is no part # visible that I can easily see with it installed. It's definitely in the latest accessories catalog. It attaches to the left side control pod housing by allen head type screws. It is neat, clean and works perfectly.
@@marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038 Thank you for the reply. I reached out to my closest HD dealer and they had the same phone mount holder. Good product.
It was over 2 years ago now so my memory is a little cloudy but I believe they are by Dynamic Ringz. I got them at my HD dealer in Matthews, NC along with all the rest of the accessories. I believe they're called Dynamic Ringz. Worth every penny. If you watch the video, I mention the brand and inserted a subtitle. You should watch all of them from beginning to end if you want to duplicate everything I did. Thanks for watching!
I'm partial to the Heritage as I have the 2018 Anniversary Heritage, but that Fatboy is indeed one nice looking bike especially in these Anniversary colors. I'm 56 and felt too old for the sporty and sexy Fatboy while the Heritage was already setup in touring mode. I hope they come out with more parts for the 2018's soon.
Hi Ken and thanks for your compliments on my Fatboy. I love the Heritage too but in the end, there were several factors that swayed me towards the Fatboy. First, I think that the styling is AWESOME; particularly the wheel and tire combo and the satin nickel / brushed aluminum look on the rocker boxes and exhaust system. The Heritage just looked a little "frumpy" to me with the skinny laced wheels and the same old chromed hub in the front of years past. In addition, I noticed that the throttle response on the Fatboy was lightning fast while the Heritage (maybe it was just the example I rode) exhibited a more tame (slower) demeanor. The Fatboy definitely had crisper throttle response and superior power, even with the same 114 engine (or IS it the same????) Anyway, 56 years old, 58 years old; none of that matters, as long as YOU like what you bought. I didn't buy my bike to impress anyone other than myself! Anyway, your Heritage is an awesome bike too and if you're ever in Charlotte, look me up and we'll do some riding together!
Sounds good. Truth be told I'm afraid to test ride the Fatboy for fear that I would want it. I've test rode 4 bikes in the past 2 years and with each one i was signing the paper within 1 hour. I have declared to all family members that the Anniversary Heritage will be my final bike..... I've gone Sportster, Dyna, Heritage 107, and now Heritage 114. Total madness! Again nice bike hope you have a great time with it!
Hey John beautiful bike always love the fat boy always will but I'm sorry I think I'm going to have to spend a couple extra bucks for some pipes or lease Mufflers anyways!
Hi Gary and thanks. I love my Vance & Hines 300 Eliminator slip ons for the throaty rumble and stock appearance but will likely purchase a full system soon. I am leaning towards the chromed Bassani Road Rage III system, which looks bad ass, sounds even better and will boost torque even further. My Stage 2 high torque cam and auto tuner will compliment the pipe perfectly. My bike is already a rocket but I expect the Bassani will elevate performance to the next level.
Nice detailed vid. Just wondering- as you came off a Road King did you test ride a 2018 RK for comparison with your old bike and the new Softail ??? If so your thoughts please.
Thanks for the compliment. No, I didn't test ride a new Road King because I wanted the bigger 114 cubic inch engine, which is unavailable in the 2018 touring bikes from the factory. I have ridden a 2017 Street Glide Special with the Milwaukee Eight 107 and found it to be a huge improvement over my old 110 cid '07 Road King in every possible way except high rpm response. The ultimate hp, according to my "seat of the pants" dyno, felt about the same. However, the bottom end and mid range torque of the 107 was superior to the old 110 and was MUCH smoother to boot. I just had to have the 114 after I test rode a couple (a Heritage and the one I bought) because it offered even more power and torque and that is my hot button.
Cruise should of been standard like previous years. The moco is nickel and dime customers to death. They took away the heel shifter, cruise, and sissy bar away from the heritage as well
Mechanically, there is no difference. Cosmetically, there are numerous differences. Every 5 years, Harley celebrates their anniversary with special edition paint sets. They will only be manufacturing 1,100 Fatboy Limited Edition 115th Anniversary bikes, which mine is one of. They are serialized (mine was the 261st built out of the run of 1,100) and tend to be more highly sought after as the years go by, especially when they limit production like they did this year. Mine is Legend Blue and Vivid Black Ltd. Edition example while the other choice for the Fatboy Ltd. Edition is the Legend Blue Denim (the dull blue finish) with the "tattoo" graphics instead of the brass eagle medallions on the tank. Limited Edition paint or not, the 114 Fatboy S is one Bad-A and beautiful machine! (The S is the 114 engine option, which is the only engine available with the Limited Edition paint.)
Iv'e just bought the Fat Boy, I was keen to see what you have done. Good review and information, ... camera work is shocking! to close all the time, shots of the road, you talked about the windscreen, but it so close it didn't give a good view? Sit through the video?
Barry, the problem was that I held the camera vertically instead of horizontally and I had a professional marketing guy reconfigure the video. Check out my brand new video that I just posted this AM entitled "May 13, 2018 Mother's day Ride" and you will clearly see everything much better. Live and learn, right? Thanks for the interest.
What about the bike? I have shared all of my feelings about this bike! It runs, looks and rides better than any bike I have ever seen, ridden or owned. Does that answer your question? I am in love and highly recommend this particular motorcycle and everything I have done to it. This bike ROCKS!
It's nice to finally see one kitted out. I've also been a big fan of RK Motors, they've always had some great '70 Chargers (way out of my price range, but they look and sound unbelievable). It's definitely a great place to spend a Powerball Jackpot. ;-)

Nice bike. Any thoughts on HD dealer right there near where you filmed?
NBT 3, they are good people at Speedway; they just didn't have an Anniversary FLFBS when I was ready to buy.
John that's a really nice bike. What's the product name of the phone holder? How's the phone holder attached to the handle?
Your turn signals?
Where and how much and worth it?
Thanks Ken!
Beautiful bike
John O'Neill that makes a lot of sense. Enjoy 👍
Thank you sir!!!!
Great review.
Thanks Joe! Much appreciated.
That's a sexy looking bike. The fat boy is my favorite looking and overall harley.
Loved the vid and I don’t even ride a bike
Cruise should of been standard like previous years. The moco is nickel and dime customers to death. They took away the heel shifter, cruise, and sissy bar away from the heritage as well
Hello oniel, nice bike..
Thanks Jason!
Very nice congratulations and good luck I have the same bike number 204 out of 1100
Thanks David. Good luck with yours too!
I bought the 114 but wondering what is the difference?
The difference between what? Mine is a 114 as well. Do you mean the 115th Anniversary package?
yes, what is the difference between a regular 114 Fatboy and 115th Anniversary Fatboy?
Sort out the audio and you've got a great review
Thanks Bernie
Iv'e just bought the Fat Boy, I was keen to see what you have done. Good review and information, ... camera work is shocking! to close all the time, shots of the road, you talked about the windscreen, but it so close it didn't give a good view? Sit through the video?
Barry, the problem was that I held the camera vertically instead of horizontally and I had a professional marketing guy reconfigure the video. Check out my brand new video that I just posted this AM entitled "May 13, 2018 Mother's day Ride" and you will clearly see everything much better. Live and learn, right? Thanks for the interest.
Yeah, it’s a great looking bike. Happy trails, watch out for them cars, 😆
Thanks Jerry. Absolutely!
I’m 58 too
vtec947 I’m in San Diego California
The bike the bike what about the bike!!!!!!!!!
What about the bike? I have shared all of my feelings about this bike! It runs, looks and rides better than any bike I have ever seen, ridden or owned. Does that answer your question? I am in love and highly recommend this particular motorcycle and everything I have done to it. This bike ROCKS!
FSB port? Those damn Russians... :-P Don't worry, I do that all the time, too.
I had a brain fart...no idea how or why I said that! Yes, those damned Russians!
It's nice to finally see one kitted out. I've also been a big fan of RK Motors, they've always had some great '70 Chargers (way out of my price range, but they look and sound unbelievable). It's definitely a great place to spend a Powerball Jackpot. ;-)
Only 'world famous' in Charlotte. The parochial ism of Americans cracks me up. 🤣 🤣
Andrew, there are NASCAR fans all over the world and Charlotte, NC is the headquarters. By the way, I am from the Washington, DC area in the state of Maryland. Where are you from?
nice vid!!! suck images definition
Thanks, I think....
ALL YOU NEED NOW, is a TV and a TOILET on the BIKE ! I'll KEEP MY 2004 CARBED FATTY
Great review
Thanks Kevin
