To be honest, I really like the original Ocean version because it became a fantastic meme for all audiences. Does anyone know where the Ocean dub can be found?
Maybe one day we will get some kind of super duper ultimate edition of the series on Blu Ray that has some customized and mixed and matched audio options. I would love to be able to watch one version of the show that incorporates all of the iconic lines and meme moments into a single experience.

DVD Kai is probably objectively the best, due to the correct translation and voice acting, but TV Kai is probably the most iconic other than the original Ocean version.
So here's my question: why does the Kai DVD version (the one with "Over 8000 Argh") have the original dub Nappa line from the meme, but the Kai TV version (the one with "OVER NINE-THOU-SAAAAAND!") have a different line? Was it supposed to be a middle ground so everyone got a little bit of meme goodness, or did they just not get Nappa's line "right" the first time and redo it for the DVD (while going for the faithful translation for Vegeta's line)?
In case you're still curious 3 years later: the Japanese line is, 「ベジータ！カカロットの戦闘力はいくつになった?」 which if they were going for a completely 1:1 translation would translate to, "Vegeta! What's Kakarot's power level now?" So neither version is any more accurate than the other (they're both good translations).

Christopher Sabet’s first go at it in the original Funimation dub didn’t have the oomph that showed Vegeta’s disbelief and anger. The DBZ Kai dub (TV version) fixed that and made the perfect version of it.
While the Ocean Dub is inferior as a whole.... Brian Drummond's Vegeta voice is unmatched... he perfectly captures the depth of the sinister, smart, sassy, intense and selfish nature of such a complex character.... Chris Sabat's voice makes him sound like a meathead

@@JodaroKujo i’d say its fair, we do have a bunch of funi versions of chris sabat saying 9000, we even got a kai ver too I’d say its fair to have at least one be manga accurate for anyone who cares about that sort of thing, even though it doesn’t really matter-
I think, in my opinion, the best combo of the two (as far as more serious takes go) is the Kai TV Nappa and Kai DVD Vegeta. That being said, Ocean Dub will live on in my heart and brain forever.
Tfs got it right, they knew that trying to overact wouldn’t work as well since it had been done before, so they decided to undersell it instead to great effect I must add.
