    Passenger seat reclined. Sipping Ice Tea. Beautiful calm evening flight. The drone of the twin...Like that touch. I do miss audio from my digital craft, but haven't felt the breaking point urge to add analog audio. Another smooth landing. Thank you Pirate Air.

    I havent flown fixed wing in years. your videos always make me want to put one in the air again. I should build a mini talon with walksnail. but all my stuff has vectors I'd have to learn Inav or ardupiolot

      I was a big fan of the Vector too, was my favorite for a long time. I do like the Matek flight controller boards though, and once I built a couple of planes with Ardupilot and figured it out I haven't looked back... lol This one is using AtomRC's own F405-Navi with Ardupilot on it, and it's working quite well.

    Very cool set up. I have the Swordfish as well. I installed the DJI O3 unit on it and OSD is not quite as good. I've never tried to fly more than 1 mile away. I want to fly it to 3 miles one day, fingers cross, lol

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      3 miles should be easy with the O3. I've never flown any of the DJI FPV stuff, but it seems to work well for others.

    Great video! Thank you for posting this. I’m in the build process for my firstinav plane on a swordfish! . Mostly curious about your battery size for this kind of flight. I am already set up on lipo and plan on running that versus lithium ion. What battery size would you suggest for this typical flight?

    I do love the videos from this plane!! a bit scary of what may happen if one motor may fail!!!! but it is great work....Also I was wondering if you ever have one of them 270 degrees servos failed??? I mean I purchase one put it on my pan servo so I can see around, Hand the plane for a bout tow months, come back to fly and now the stupid servo keeps shaking and hunting!!! any possible reason, and may be solutions??? NOTE" the servo is pretty all the way down and glued on the fuselage......

    Hello. The ardupilot and OSD settings look very good, could I take a look at them? I have seen mentions that very large Vteil tail deflections are needed. It was mentioned about 15 mm deflection of the steering surfaces. Now I collect it and do not want to break it right away. This is the first aircraft, before that only multi-rotors. Thank you very much!

    Wow that is locked in. Do you rate Ardupilot better than iNav? I’ve only ever tried iNav but I get a lot of wing rock on my plane (it’s been auto-tuned) it’s ok, but it’s starting to annoy me somewhat, wondering if it’s worth trying Arduplane.

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I personally do like Ardupilot more than inav for a number of reasons. Most of it is personal preference like everything else... lol Either one can fly well if set up right. There's a bit of a learning curve moving to Ardupilot from something else, but once you figure it out it's pretty simple stuff really.

    Thanks again for your videos. Still really enjoying the Swordfish. Thinking about changing my VTX antennae to something with a taller mast with a Walksnail V2. Also what antenna mast are you using for your rx receiver on the plane ? They seem pretty rigid. Do you have an affiliate link for getFPV ? Ill def help out with future purchases thanks !

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the kind words! For the VTX, I like the HGLRC Hammer. I'm not sure how well it compares to the something more reputable like TrueRC or the like, but they work well enough for me and the price is right. I get them for $13 a pair at Amazon. ( link - amzn.to/3JTuVdD ) The R/C antenna in this video was just a stock Crossfire one, the "Immortal T" that comes with the nano rx. I haven't used the affiliate program at GetFPV, but I did just go check it out and set up an account... lol www.getfpv.com/?afid=YWvXl2mWrIfjeYa9&referring_service=link Thanks for the support!

    Keith, how do you manage to keep 25 MBps all the way out? Whats your antenna setup? Still the patches on the ground? Are these on a tracker?

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I'm not doing anything special really. It's just a pair of HGLRC Hammer antennas on the transmitter, and the stock patches in the receiver with two 9.4db triple feed patches on the top connectors. On this flight it did seem to hold on to 25Mbps longer than on some previous flights. Maybe just a good day with low humidity or something. No tracker, I just have an idea where I'll fly before I take off and point the antennas there. I should be trying out some better antennas soon from VAS to see how they compare to the cheaper stuff.

    Did you compare v1 vs v2 Walksnail in terms of range? It seems that v2 have less power.

    • @bonafidepirate
      @bonafidepirate  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have not done a direct back to back comparison of them, but I have flown plenty of both. One of my V2s seemed to have lower signal/bitrate than the other, while the better one seemed to be on part with my V1s. I did the calibration thing on that one and the signal came up to normal. I'm in a group of pilots that are currently testing beta firmware for Walksnail, and in doing so we've been flying on lower power settings. What I found is that lower power is even more impressive than max 1200mW than I had been flying... lol I know I've seen plenty of people report as good or better range at 700mW than 1200. I think this is true especially on the V2, it seems to get noisy when pushing too much power. Look at the last video I uploaded, it's a V2 transmitter at 200mW with various antennas, that's flown on a currently unreleased firmware (34.xx.xx), and the results were better than I expected. Other have tested at higher altitudes and seen some really impressive range even at lower power.
