Tour my first truck camper build. The Ford Maverick bed is only 4.5 ft. So this was a challenge to sleep in the back of the truck bed. My focus was to build a relatively easy and affordable camper. Maybe even overlander? Setup is pretty easy as is the build.

This one is NOT easy but relatively inexpensive to make th-cam.com/video/hgh0oVObGjU/w-d-xo.html

Brilliant!
Very cool

I just got my Maverick and I dig this camping build. Thanks for sharing!
This one is fairly easy and functional
Some excellent ideas!
Great job! Like your content on the Maverick. Thanks for sharing😊
Thanks!
Love the set up!
Thanks! I am working on a custom camper shell build. haha
now time to take it out of the suburbs!
Booyah 👊🏽 😁 👍🏽🇺🇸
I started the custom camper build th-cam.com/video/JWGYI6WPNh4/w-d-xo.html
Wow 😮 amazing
Thanks a lot 😊
Nice setup, I really like the pull outs.
Thanks. I plan to do a build with a small slide out using a ladder rack as the frame. We shall see how that goes.....
If you haven't done so already, you might make your Amazon links all referral links. After going through your Maverick videos I've added easily a half-dozen items to my shopping list.
Yes they are. I appreciate it! Thanks
Thanks, this would be useful for even a non camping setup.
Agreed. I keep it like that even when I am not camping.
nice
you need to get in to gold mining mettle detecting we have the same truck and i am in Colorado I am doing almost the same build as you love the vids keep them coming
That does sound like fun!
That tripod light will attract every bug for 10 miles
Seems like you might have room for a 10x10 pop up canopy in there with your gear. Shade when you’re cooking and hanging out and maybe even be able to pop it up over the tent/bed for extra rain protection in case you need it. Keep the tent, truck bed, and wood dry. Tarp the canopy for even more weather protection.
Definitely room for that. And plenty more.
This is an awesome set up. Great job. Do you mind sharing the measurements of the cabinet drawers. Ive been looking into doing this myself but I need a good blueprint and this I really love.
My craftsmanship is not precise. You don't want my measurements. I just cut and use what space is available. If you click the playlist in the description you can see what I did and un-did.
This is a very interesting idea. But Id rather put the tent on the ground. To be honest, I'm not a tent camper anymore. I pull a popup tent trailer with my Maverick. Your idea is pretty cool tho and I'm sure many people will find it useful
I pibe your videos. I am defiantly going for the simple build drawers. I can’t afford the tonnage cover but I can afford a tarp and $55 worth of 3m sticky sided Velcro! The tent is a great find too.
GREAT JOB! Is the tent comfortable for laying down in and easy to pop up and tear gown when you need to drive somewhere? The biggest problem with truck tents is the time to set up- and once up you can’t drive anywhere!
there is decent head room in this little tent. take down is really easy, especially if you have a tonneau cover. You would only need to take out the two collapsible rods and just put the cover on. That way you don't have to remove your bedding or anything else inside the tent. Drive off, then come back and put the rods back in.
@@GearGadgetExperiments Yes, it looks like you can take it down quickly, and drive away and come back and set it up again easily. Thanks for the demonstration . Much better than the expensive truck tents that are much more complex to set up and take down. Some people are crazy what they spend- and a pain to set up and take down!
You need to build a teardrop next!
I might do a "teardrop" version on my Honda Element. haha
Here is the latest on the Maverick Camper th-cam.com/video/hgh0oVObGjU/w-d-xo.html
How many vehicles do you have? I heard Sienna, seen a Toyota Corolla, and Ford Maverick!
Well, they belong to the family. Got wife and 3 boys, all driving ages. Haha
Do you think that the tent would fit without the drawer system given the wheel wells? Also this tent is 77in long and most 2 person tents are 80inch+ long, do you think those would still fit or no? Thanks for the info!
yes, tent would still fit.
Hey i've been thinking about getting the laminx covers for the headlights/taillights. What are your thought on this? Worth it ?
Sorry. I don't have any experience with that. Maybe I should look into it myself :)
@@GearGadgetExperiments I believe the idea is it protects the headlights/taillights from UV rays so years down the road you peel off the sticker and bam your lights are in pristine condition. My concern really is how long will the headlights/taillights last. It's nice it externally keeps them in good shape but if it internally fails and needs to be changed out anyways then perhaps i'm just wasting money. Just thinking out loud here anyhow
Do you have the measurements for the lubber?
I was not that precise. Just cut base on what space was needed or available
Have i been pronouncing Tonneau incorrectly all this time?
Haha. Don't use me as the benchmark!
@@GearGadgetExperiments nice build! I'm also looking/thinking on how to extend the sleeping length of my 5.5 ft bed, tailgate down with best top softop on....basically how to cover/secure our feet at night, then quickly throw and go in the AM.
Did you see my current build ? th-cam.com/video/U7WpkLnx6HI/w-d-xo.html
this kook has obviously never been camping before. **proceeds to sleep with cooler full of raw meat** bear bait! and that garbage tent isn’t going to hold up to any sort of wind at all… the worst part about this build is that it’s not even waterproof. everything’s going to rot 😮
