Since I seem to be gaining a fair few views here, I should mention another video someone made on this topic, which inspired some of my writing (although I was already in the process of preparing this when I watched it). Worth a listen, if you want some more perspective, especially as far as children's "entertainment" goes. th-cam.com/video/gBlPrxhiT08/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qtrOAjl9RomXBKaG
If the Minecraft Movie is _supposed_ to be for kids, then it makes even LESS sense for it to be Live Action... Because Hollywood _always_ relegates animated movies to the title "kids movies."
You can be mute but still have personality. But I definitely agree that Steve's personality should've been more about curiosity and a thirst for knowledge and crafting driving him forward. Instead, we've gotten the cocky dude with a 'tude character that Jack Black has played in basically every movie. Pick of Destiny, School of Rock, etc etc
@@SuperiorPosterior Yeah, I agree steve has *some* personality, just not a super bold cocky one like jack Black. Plus, making a character mute opens up some new personality possibilities, and honestly Steve would just work really well like that
It is actually sad to see how few views and how underrated someone like LP is. He is right, this is not creative or fun , it is just a cash grab. Everything popular eventually becomes a soul less money grabbing trap.
I think there are a lot of things that can be popular while still retaining their charm. Corporate incentives being what they are, though, it's pretty rare.
it may not look great but i do apreciate that the creators are trying something new bc i think that's more important overall. imagine if every movie was the same as endgame because it was good. we would never make anything. so i think innovating should always be important even if it doesn't go well the first try.
I agree that just having bad visuals isn't the worst. The annoying part is twisting a game that we know and love into corporate slop, and burning the real beauty and creativity, the real uniqueness that Minecraft already had, to make something with no artistry. Whose sole goal is leveraging the Minecraft IP to turn a profit, not to tell a compelling story (like they'd be forced to, if they animated it and had to compete with the community, instead of "big budget" live action). The contempt the trailer shows our characters displaying for Steve just feels like a sign of everyone's real hatred for what makes Minecraft Minecraft. But yeah visual experimentation isn't the problem. It's spitting on the world, and audience, that you are supposed to be catering to.
I don’t see anything particularly innovative about this project though. Moving video games to real life is basically THE trope, and how else would you make Minecraft look realistic other than what the trailer gave us? Appreciate your optimism though.
@@billhasntbeenreal6143 making minecraft live action is hard and i respect what they managed as although it doesn't manage to look good, it really couldv'e looked worse. but yea i am in denial about how bad this movie will probably be, but maybe if i say it'll be a great film enough, that will become the case
@@Innerspacezombie again, appreciate the optimism, I hope it doesn’t lead to disappointment! I am not envious of the people who have to work on this movie.
what if that wasn't Steve and he was herobrine and to fool the people that came from the real world he just changed his appearance to fool them and got them to help him get the orb of dominance and half way in the movie or earlier the real blocky Steve told everyone that that person wasn't Steve and he was herobrine and they got in to a conflict to get the orb of dominance or something qnd herobrine's objective was to get in to the real world to conquer it

He uses the same C.S. Lewis quote as me but I pinky promise that my inclusion of it was natural and not consciously yoinked
Kids deserve better
That pottery analogy was beautiful

Yeah, the idea for this movie is just dumb from every facet.
I wish they used someone else as Steve and made him completely mute. Steve is not supposed to have a personality. Steve being a mute would be so cool

We should stop treating kids as deserving only slop.
this!! I feel like if anything we should have a higher standard for kids' content because those years are so formative
It makes the Mario movie look good
And this is what they were proud enough of to put in the trailer!
The Mario movie is good though?
@K0ZNIK I think they meant the 1993 mario movie. personally I love that movie (as it's own thing)
it was good tho?
thought i was watching a channel with more then 100k subscribers, what a suprise too see such a great video coming from somewhere so small
hehe. You got tricked. I actually have absolutely no idea what I'm doing (the secret is that successful people don't either though...)

the reason why this has so little views is because. everything he said in this video has been said by hundreds of videos already.

It doesnt
It shouldnt
I recall actually wanting or envisioning the Minecraft movie as live-action (in some form) as a kid.
There are a lot of things that sound really fun when you're a kid, that get totally butchered when rendered into corporate "art"
I hear that the guy who created the game is interested in this.
Damn, this needs to reach more audiences, algorithm better make that happen so help me god.
Thank you for this video.
