I'm sure when you contacted Endless Pools they mentioned the liner goes in before the water intake at the far end (that would have given you the needed 10" in length as that's the height of the return) and the water returns on the sides are installed. If, somehow, you managed to install the liner the pool wouldn't work as you've covered the return flow intake feeding the propellor flow.
