Wood Gasifier Maiden Run Part 3
This is the Maiden Run part 3 of my replication of Flash001USA's wood gasifier design. I have made some small design changes. Up front I apologize for the poor videography. The video was taken with my S3 Phone and I should not have turned the phone in the normal phone direction. I should have used may other camera. I am Sorry!! Running a camera and running a gasifier is a difficult task for one person.

    The large voltage opinion put the output should be tuned so it doesn't have to be that high voltage you don't have To see spark to make this tune to A OUT PUT OR RECIEVER B replacatuion of recieve being tuned to the reciever is inportant thus condition makes it valued of woek performed

    Just wondering how you made out with the mods you made. Keep us posted with your progress. Looking forward to seeing you run again. Joe

  • @mazdalorean
    @mazdalorean 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I personally modified a blower similar to the dayton one you bought for 108 bucks. I coupled a larger motor to it. Big waste of time and energy. The problem with that blower is how wide the squirrel cage is . You need a blower with one or two narrow squirrel cage fans. Those will pull your arm through the hose. Second, as far as a blower goes, yes it's nice to have a blower that can be disassembled, but if you start with biochar , you won't worry about tar. I think air leaks and sealing the hearth to the hopper, and a blower that can make it through the run are your biggest issues. Joe

  • @mazdalorean
    @mazdalorean 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used a rope gasket where my rim bolts on to the hopper. So far no issues. I'm sure you will be able to find it in my old videos of the build if you want to see it.

  • @mazdalorean
    @mazdalorean 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Once you make that kind of tar , you learn how important it is to have a clean start up. You can go to home depot or Lowe's and buy hard wood lump charcoal. Now you'll have to break it into smaller pieces, but starting on that will impress the he'll out of you. Don't forget to get those leaks fixed . That charcoal won't do you any good if you're leaking air in. Anyway charcoal doesn't have any tar in it so you'll be guaranteed a clean start up. Joe

  • @mazdalorean

    I have a 12 volt blower similar to the one you used, and I wasn't happy with how hard it pulled either. Maybe two in series might do it. Those leaks are a serious problem. With that barrel letting air in your probably completing the combustion of any gas you make long before it gets to the flare tube. I was frazzled and disappointed with my first run too. I think you'll find that when you learn what makes these things tick, the mistakes you make present themselves to you. Just be careful when it comes to air leaks. You could end up with a bomb on your hands. I've had a couple of close calls that looking back, were all my fault. Joe

  • @mazdalorean
    @mazdalorean 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought you snuck into Flash's back yard when I saw your gasifier. Nice job on the build. I'm surprised I never came across this video before now. I've been following along with this design for quite some time now. Anyway, are you using a vacuum blower to push air into the hearth? I thought about doing that a long time ago, and flash talked me out of doing that. I know it sounds like a good idea, but that can be very dangerous. I agree with the safety glasses thing . I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos to see how things are going for you. Joe

    Question: Could the energy being released as steam and hydrogen be used to produce steam directly? It may require a second plasma field to burn excess hydrogen. However, if the goal was to produce heat for pressurized steam production rather than hydrogen production, could enough energy be produced to run a high efficiency steam engine that would produce torque energy as well as a small amount of electricity for running the plasma arc process? I'm not talking about overunity or anything like that. Just using the energy that is in water via HHO to power the process and provide steam for power. Water powered ships anyone?
