Thank you so much. I was trying to talk myself into buying this even though I already own (and love) my Vitamix. Your soup comparison convinced me that I don't need it after all.
I got one, washed it, assembled it (went together with a simple twist and snap), used it--all great. I went to take it apart for cleaning--won't come apart. I carefully noted the twist direction you used for disassembly. I used two rubber grippers--that sucker is stuck. I pushed in and twisted, I pulled out and twisted, I carefully tried to rotate the other direction--no luck. Any ideas?
A couple of years ago (after a lifetime too long of waiting!) I bought a reconditioned Vitamix model 5300, and I absolutely love it. I use it all the time, and only a little for smoothies! I also have the personal cup adapter, which I occasionally use for blending small amounts. I have ordered this immersion blender so I can more easily make those small amounts--easier clean-up, and because unlike my Cuisinart immersion blender, this won't scratch up my cookware. Hoorah! Thank you for the review and for your website and all the videos.
Immersion Blenders are not meant for smoothie making. They are used for foods that are pureed and intentionally left a little Corser. Think items like hummus, creamed corn, Certain dressings, and certain vegetable purees you don't want over whipped. It's ridiculous to compare an immersion blender to a bar blender. They are two different functions.
I have a full-size vita mix at home but now we are traveling full time in our motorhome so we have very limited space. My favorite feature about the full size vitamix is the way it handles tomato skins when we make salsa and the seeds in jalapeños. Will this immersion blender handle those well?
Love your review!! ❣️ I’ve been waiting for this review!! What I love about your reviews is that you guys are so honest about the products and that helps so much to make decisions!! 👍 I have to say 2020 has been a great year for Vitamix with the launch of so many new products.. ..And has been for me too since I purchased my new Vitamix and started the Vitamix lifestyle and so happy with it !! 👍 Thanks to your reviews and suggestions!! 🥰 Keep it going!!👍👍
That might be the most thorough review I've ever seen of a kitchen product! Not sure what all you have on your channel yet, but I'm inclined to subscribe to see.
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you! I was expecting to fast forward to the performance of the blender but the video was both soothing and informative. I really like the honesty when describing the blenders capabilities and uses. Also, the last bit with your wife and kid were a pretty cool touch. It was ensuring to see that a little bit of force is required to blend the frozen fruits into ice cream; many videos try to make every process seem effortless.
My top use for an immersion blender is small batches of Mayo. The cost of entry is paid for in a few months just by the amount of money you save on commercial mayo.
After watching your recommended video, I purchased a Venturist 1200 from Costco and came in a special package w/immersion blender. It went into the graveyard of appliances portion of the pantry: fondue set, wok, waffle maker. It was not until much later that I discovered why to use the entire blender when I only need 2 cups, of soups, mashed potatoes, and whipped cream.
I swear I bought this on impulse because it was on sale for $100. I got a 3rd through your review and cancelled it. I know it would have gone unused and paying $100 to essentially blend coffee would have been crazy. 😂 I’ll stick with my workhorse vitamix blender. It’s already sitting in the counter ready to be used. Thank you for talking sense into my head.
I am so practical I am struggling with getting this one or the Kitchen Aide version *40 bucks. One year later is it work the extra money to buy this particular brand?
My 10 yo Vitamix container just cracked from my frozen ingredients. This hand mixer is same price as a new container and I’m thinking of using this instead of my Vitamix. I eat smoothies for 2 of my 3 meals a day except I always have fresh kale and spinach so I’m left scratching my head on what to do!??
Get a new container. If smoothies are your main use, the immersion blender won't compare to the carafe blender, even right out of the box. Plus, the blades will dull over time , especially blending frozen stuff, making it even less effective.
@@paulv69 thanks so much. I ended up contacting Vitamix and My blender was still under warranty so I got a new container free !! Yay!! Thanks for your video and input 👍
Amazing video!!! Love that you spoke about nut butters as well . Have you made an updated video on this product ?? I would love to know how it does with dates !! And date paste 😊
Really like this review, you say the good , bad and ugly, what you guys like to use it for and what you don’t recommend it for, also showing visuals of the smoothie and peanut better, and kale smoothie helped , thanks!!!
Glad I stuck around for the "after video" video. The blending of the frozen bananas and strawberries sold me. Past three I got from Amazon sucked. They can barely blend a glass of water without bogging down. I am at the mall right now and headed to Williams-Sonoma to place my order.
This looks like it will service all the food-related functions, but.... One of the other things I use my immersion blender for is making cold processed soap. I've burned out, oh, FOUR I think, other immersion blenders, because sometimes I have to blend the oil/lye mix for 10-15 minutes to get to "trace" (a thickness roughly like yogurt). Will the Vitamix be hardy enough to take that "abuse"? ;-)
Hello, I am looking to buy a Vitamix. Certified reconditioned venturist is available at $449 now. Do you think there will be better deals during thanksgiving? Should I wait?
Can you tell me what size mason jar you are using? Just bought the Immersion and want to try it in a jar but not of the ones I have it fits into the mouth at the top. Thanks!
Honestly a very bad review. You basically did a review of what an immersion blender is and what you could use it for but you didn’t compare it to other immersion blenders. You basically compared it to a Vitamix blender, which is fine but also it doesn’t tell whether I should pay $150 vs $30 Cuisinart hand blender which is the point of a review. Not what can a blender do vs. immersion mixer
A Vitamix blender has anywhere from 1000 to 1500 watts. This Vitamix immersion blender has 625 watts. A blender and an immersion blender are used for completely different things and with such a difference in watts you're going to get completely different results. A better review would be comparing different immersion blenders, not comparing a blender to an immersion blender. A well-stocked kitchen where someone cooks a lot should have both.
Tempted by Amazon Prime day deal, 20% off. i already have an immersion blender, about 7 years old, but this doesn't seem all that different. I love my Vita Mix though, so this review helps. i think the biggest flag for me is the sharp blades. Before owning a Vita Mix, i had a Ninja, which was great... the first month. But Ninja, and most blenders, rely on sharp blades for smooth results. But, if you are blending frozen stuff like ice, mango, berries, those blades get dull pretty fast. The advantage of a Vita Mix blender is it does not rely on sharp blades, but motor strength, to produce results. Five years later, my Vita Mix makes silky smooth smoothies like the day i bought it. My thought is that the emersion blenders reliance on sharp blades buts it more in the category of a Ninja, or other blender that relies on sharp blades vs motor to get results. i am temped by the nice cream results, single serving is a big deal when you're single. Same with nut butter. Making a small quantity of nut butter in a Vita Mix blender is pretty much a no go. I've tried making it in their small 8 oz containers, doesn't work. Looks like the same issue with the immersion blender, just not enough motor to get the same silky smooth nut butters you get with the Vita Mix blender. As tempting as it is, concerned even the nice cream may get less smooth over time as blades dull.
The difference between the Immersion and the standard vitamix is the shape of the blade. The large containers have a rectangular blade Vs a sharp blade. The latter cuts the food and the rectangular smashes the molecules which make their trade mark smoothies. I believe this blade along with a powerful motor created the smoothie culture as we know it. In fact I had a spigot on my first Vitamix which would dispense ice cream like a DQ machine as those blades pushed out the sorbet mixture.
As far as cleaning, 1-2 drops dishwasher soap in fairly tall cup. Dishwasher soap is "no Suds" and very concentrated. Believe me, it will be clean especially with the touch of bleach that is in most dishwasher soaps.
I have bought the Kenwood immersion blender which can blend soup into smooth cream. The Braun immersion blender with moving tip can make smooth peanutbutter.
Injust need to make single serve lattes and soothies without kale. Everything else i can do in my pitcher vitamix. Basically i need it for convenience. Having both is very beneficial though so that you atleast have a choice.
Always annoying watching ads, while watching product reviews. I understand WHY this happens. But it's weird, because a product review is a toned down, less biased infomercial in many cases. That's why I like channels like Gamer's Nexus, who make their money on t-shirts and such. They review a CPU, no ads :) Good review on the immersion blender though, well done.
Really enjoying your videos. Watching a lot of older ones. Thank you. ❤️ BTW, your wife is absolutely gorgeous, and you are much more handsome without the facial hair. 😊
Since this is just a first impression video, and it's now been two years, it would be cool to get an update on how you guys have used it and how you use it most + just generally any updates on your thoughts about it now. ( This first impression video was a great start, really enjoyed watching it as I do pretty much all your videos ) ( Also I recently used your referral code during Vitamix days... and was going to follow up on letting you know, but that form started asking all kinds of extra information that I wasn't comfortable providing... but that part wasn't so important, the main thing is I wanted you guys to get credit ($$) for the effort you put into these videos... my tiny way of giving back. If I buy more in the future I'll use it again. )
I bought a vitamin after having a ninja blender for a while. I never saw the big deal with Vitamix. I still don’t. There was no difference in the smoothness and it tasted the same. The “heating” function I’m convinced was brought on as a benefit when someone complained that their smoothies tasted warm…”oh, ha ha, you see that’s a feature we have for when you want to not have to use a stove and blend the #%^} out of your ingredients. I gave my Vitamix away.
The level of effort involved in the ice cream demonstration makes the blender seem impractical. Also, food stuck behind the blade seems to be wasted without even more effort to recover it. Even more waste with residual food that can't be spooned out of a tall jar. All of this essentially translates into increasing the cost of your food by ~10%. In this inflationary environment where food prices are already high and going higher, why tax yourself by wasting more food that can't be recovered from behind the blade and in the base of a jar. Nice gadget but not practical for single serve when considering the cost of food.
Super disappointed that the entire interior of the bell is plastic. I don’t want plastic chemicals leaching into my hot soup. Plastic leeches more than just BPA
Lol, the label says they are assembled in China but you are saying it's in USA. It does not even matter anyway, China produces at the quality the companies want to; Heat? Why would you heat the food with a blender? Get a Bamix if you want to do peanut butter, or in general if you want a good blender. Looks like you are loosing quite some food with yours. Full size blender no thank you, it's a mess to work with them and i don't need the smoothest cream of all, had one for 10y and never bothered to move the soup in containers and splash everything around. Yours doesn't look like soup at all, it's a dip.
you could open a pop-up soup and (n)ice cream shop with this thing bit.ly/vitamixIB
sorbet sure. soup, not so much. i still think the a3500 is superior, and that's to be suspected.
Thank you so much. I was trying to talk myself into buying this even though I already own (and love) my Vitamix. Your soup comparison convinced me that I don't need it after all.

They’ve moved back

Yes. Exactly make for specific things!!
Homemade mayonnaise is perfect and pesto and salad dressing. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

My top use for an immersion blender is small batches of Mayo. The cost of entry is paid for in a few months just by the amount of money you save on commercial mayo.
neutral oil, egg or aquafaba, acid (lemon, lime, vinegar) and about 2 minutes is all you need to make a quick mayo with an immersion blender.
can it STIR natural peanut butter?
if you use the whisk attachment, i'd imagine yes. we should try
@@LINY Yes you should try, but with the blade. I would be surprised if the whisk didn’t break. Laura Scudder’s natural, or Smucker’s, not Jif. ;)

Can make this frozen sorbet with the blender cup attachment?
The cup that comes with the Bundle? If so, then yes, just like we did in the video
Does the wand fits into a regular mouth mason jar? I'm thinking of doing homemade mayo, just a cup weekly.
Yup, as shown. :)
Thank you for being honest about the product! 😊

Yeah or pancakes or brownies. Lots of other uses that weren’t mentioned.
Makes perfect sense. Pay $150 for the immersion... or $300 for the full size Vitamix to get the extra smoothness.
This is the ideal tool for making an emulsion. Blending a high water content with a high oil content. Great for pastry chefs.
