What would really be a heartbreaking storyline is a what if that after cell or somewhere after that something happens to gohan and he snaps becoming a villain and piccolo and vegeta goten and trunks and all other z fighters have to stop him and it ending with gohan killing everyone with only piccolo remaining and fighting him as a last stand and then after gohan kills piccolo in a beam strugle gohan remembers his mentor and oldest friend and with tears in his eyes says he is sorry for it

I personally have always thought that of his two parents, Goku is the better one to Gohan. Chi-Chi is overbearing and never listens to what Gohan wants. The only thing that matters is what she wants and that is a scholar. In this series, Gohan wanted to be strong enough to fight against Cell, so Goku trained him for a year in the time chamber. He listened to his son and gave him the tools to do so. Is Goku perfect? No. Is he a good father in his own way. yes.
Gohan has been wearing some version of Piccolo’s gi since the Saiyan arc. He wears it against Nappa and Vegeta, then for part of the time on Namek, and then while preparing for and eventually fighting the Androids. The only time he changes out of it is when he wears Saiyan armor on Namek and then in the time chamber.
His sensei, The great Piccolo left him in the desert for months, throws him off of a cliff, blinding him, left no food The story of Gohan's sensei find out more on the next episode of Dragon ball z

Yeah, Goku wears his masters' symbol on his clothing, and his clothing itself is based on the first outfit that Master Roshi gave him. So he understands that Gohan wants his clothing based on his own master. He's not jealous or never forces him to follow his ways, he just accepts Gohan's path and only guides him when needed. The same is seen when Gohan says in Super during their match that he wants to pursue his own path. He just accepts that and is proud of his son. He respects Piccolo in a lot of ways, but most of all, he respects Gohan's relationship with Piccolo. He never tries to get in between them, he asks Piccolo to come train with them during the Android Saga and says Gohan would like it. Also in Super, he personally goes and asks Piccolo to train Gohan for the Tournament of Power. He understands and respects their Master-Pupil & "Best Friends" kinda relationship.
Well Gohan and Piccolos relationship is what turns Piccolo into a "good guy" You have to remember four years prior to the start of DBZ Piccolo was trying to kill Goku and all of the Earthlings too. It's like the seed he planted in piccolo by sparing him has in turn blessed his son. A real father would see that, and I do believe Goku is a good father at least in DBZ. Although it is really funny in DBZA when he isn't.
Gohan choosing to wear the costume of his mentor in this saga was pretty cool to see especially given their time spent together for that entire year training for the preparation of the Saiyan Invasion. And then to see it later on for Goku to train Gohan in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and even wearing his gi to fight Majin Buu out of respect for his father.
That one time young Gohan wore the common orange gi it didn't sit right with me. He just always looks so much more natural with the Piccolo clothes to me.
It's moments like these that GT lacks. Where's the interaction with Piccolo and Pan? He's her uncle and would've been awesome to see. Piccolo is probably the best character in Dragonball
Gohan redeemed Piccolo so much that not only does Piccolo risk his own life multiple times over for Gohan and the Earth but a warrior dressed like King Piccolo ultimately saves the whole planet rather than conquering it.

In one of the Spanish Dubs they kinda reanimated and redubbed the scene and it goes somewhat like this : Both Trunks and Goku offer Gohan clothes, Gohan turns them down thanking them for the gesture and says "thank you, but I'm really nor part of the turtle School I am Part of the Demon School that's why i want to wear the same clothes as my first teacher, if that's okay with you Mr Piccolo" and that Scene with that dub hits sooo different

Bruce Faulconer really impacted this show for the better, in my opinion. That background music for Gohan helped contribute to the foreshadowing of what was to come. It was just the little things like that which made all the difference.

I like the fact that Goku sides with his cultural identity as an Earthling. But even more impactful is the fact that Gohan retains his affiliation and bond with Piccolo as his original trainer and mentor, and that Goku respects this.

Doubtful any change would happen. Gohan reaches both the peak of SS and SS2 in the time chamber. There wouldn’t be much change. That forms power only goes so far, which is why Goku chose different methods of powering up.
I just like the fact that this scene Gohan had some great main chracter vibes. I mean he reminds me of Goku in respect to wearing his first masters outfit (hes been wearing Roshis for years) and how his relationship with Piccolo was one that really changed the Ex son of the demon king. I would love to see a what if of gohan actually being the one center stage after Goku dies.

Doubtful any change would happen. Gohan reaches both the peak of SS and SS2 in the time chamber. There wouldn’t be much change. That forms power only goes so far, which is why Goku chose different methods of powering up.

I just like the fact that this scene Gohan had some great main chracter vibes. I mean he reminds me of Goku in respect to wearing his first masters outfit (hes been wearing Roshis for years) and how his relationship with Piccolo was one that really changed the Ex son of the demon king. I would love to see a what if of gohan actually being the one center stage after Goku dies.
If only Gohan had not squandered the power he had, maybe he could have lived up to Goku's legacy as his successor in the buu saga and onwards.
