Hope you enjoy my first POV video in the waves. Sorry about the sound I'm working on a solution for future videos. The other sailors in the video are Sammy & Greg... good times!
This is definitely more true to life windsurfing, to many videos don’t show the realness, I feel like I’m riding the board myself, nice long flat water between wave sets 😎😎
thank you very much Paul, for this video just before going to work... pleasant feeling with a very good quality of images and sound with your new gopro hero 11!!!
Hi guys, I've just listened to both the WTV podcasts back to back and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Paul, your vids are absolutely brilliant full of amazing windsurfing, good humour and awesome tunes. I can't believe people didn't find the windsurfing TV mash up funny, I was literally pissing myself laughing all the way through it! Another one to mention was "which sail brand" - Genius! I totally get what you say about its just a hobby - I also fly a drone and have a YT Chanel, not for fame, money or subs but just for my enjoyment and also I think the local riders enjoy seeing themselves out on the water. Unfortunately, we don't have dreamy conditions like you Paul so they're not quite as eye catching! Keep up the good work both - keeping the scene alive 🤙🤙🤙
Thanks Koen! I actually have used this sail like 30+ times. I cleaned the window with a furniture cleaner & then put a car paint sealant on the window. Water runs off the window easy helping with visibility!
@@windsurfer Okay thanks for the tip! I have to try that too. Somehow sandgrains always seem to get in the sail when derigging, over time scratching the window when it is rolled up. You have to see the wave for that airial
First of all thank you for not using any music. Looks like a beautiful day in the water . If I may suggest to try the bookend to place the camera so it's a better view of the waves. Thank you for the video!!
Great video Paul, love the sound, it's real. Boy that makes me miss sailing, it's been about 5 or so years since I stopped. Felt myself leaning with the jibes on the lounge lol. Those conditions looked trying and tiring, flukey winds and bumpy. Love the Ezzy, was my choice of sail for years. You're going great mate.
Cheers John, hope you’re well mate. Yeah the waves that day were pretty tricky, it wasn’t a clean swell. There was backwash coming off the beach and some weird side wash coming in as well. Plus double ups so was a little tricky!
Way to go Paul!! Finally we see you indeed you are a shredder! I use Ezzy and enigma too, lightest rig there is! Great view bytheway, felt like being there, cheerse man keep them coming 🤙🏻💙🤙🏻
Thanks for putting up that great video. That makes me wanting to go windsurfing immediately. I need to improve my windsurfing to finally get into the waves… Keep rockin’
Thanks Paul, this was really fun to watch. And those tacks, gybes and waterstarts were helpful to watch as a learner. If it would be possible to use a wide-angle camera that shows your feet and back hand as well this would've been amazing learning material, but it's good as it is. Looking forward to more like this!
Mate, totally enjoyed that, looked like super fun conditions!! I'd love to sail there. This is the whole basis of my humble channel, POV.....You've given me some more ideas to make things more interesting.......Cheers!!
@@windsurfer awesome stuff!! So good to see you enjoy it too, yes its like multi-tasking....Looking forward to some more.....and thanks for watching my vids, I'm not up to your level yet but working on it!!
Thanks Paul ! It’s like I was with you the whole session ;) keep up the good work ! Can I ask what board and sail you were using ? I am getting into wave windsurfing coming from slalom. And I am gathering a wave quiver .😊 of course as a guy from slalom seems like I always want to use way to big sails compared to the core wave guys 😅
Hey Tjoene! Ah that's cool you are getting into the waves. Th board is a OES custom board 95L 220cm 60cm. The Sail is an Ezzy Wave 2023 4.7. I am 84kg and can use this combination from 15-25 knots+.
How did you mount the camera, looks like it was filmed from eye level not on a helmet. I use an insta 360 on a mast mount, but i can see your point the pov style is better for realism. No fisheying.
@@mattyclare I bought a GoPro headband mount and then stick that on my head, and then I put a surf hat over the top with a little hole in it. So the mount pops through it at the top, then put the chin straps on on the surf hat that keeps everything in place, and then mount the GoPro on top of the hat well, in fact, the GoPro sitting more on the front of the hat. Make sense?
@@windsurfer - that makes sense now. I tried the camera on top of the helmet thing and it was super annoying, it kept hitting the sail when flying the rig and wearing a helmet is annoying enough on its own. So that setup didn't spoil the session at all? I shall give it a try I think.
Awesome session PvB! I was waiting for a cheeky fwd on the way out 😅 Interesting how you have your harness lines set up differently. Must be for more control on the rocket airs 🤙😂
Yes sometimes I like not planing. You can get better angles upwind and I find it relaxing. Also when the waves are good and wind is cross/cross-off you can wavesail with a smaller sail. 👍
Great footage Paul! Fellow 80s/90s Northern Beaches Windsurfer Kiddy here (did my yr10 work experience at Narrabeen Lakes Windsurfer hire :)) Would love to do a collab with you on a LT if you are ever passing through Adelaide!!
Hey super cool! Narrabean Lakes, was a great place to learn. As for Adelaide, I'll definitely keep that in mind. Not sure when I'll be there next but hopefully catch you one day. 👍
I'm using the GoPro head mount strap & put a surf hat over it (make a little hole for the mount in the front of hat) to get sun protection and secure the GoPro head strap. 👍
What settings did you use? It looks fantastic on the computer screen. I actually felt that wave sensation just watching at one point. Did not think that could happen.
I’m still playing around with settings, but for this video I used the 4:3 ratio, 4k, 30 frames per second & standard linear width frame. 👍 I’m going to try to get a wider angle for future videos.
