Berkeley also has grade deflation. Bio has the worst on average, at B- but I once had an Econ professor that curved to C+.
Also, there are 35,000+ students but only one gym.
Also also, there is no housing post-freshman unless you can afford to pay $2,000 for a shoebox.
Also also also, there is a lot of crime, mostly homeless. 13:10 And those classes only get offered ONCE per YEAR

Very good video. I agree on the "competition" point. In econ and in stat, the classes were tough, so we were competing with ourselves to do our best. But we always worked together and supported each other. Surviving the grind together was part of the experience. The time has come. Graduation is this week, ain't it? Them honors cords look pretty cool, don't they? =)

exactly!! course material is hard and we're all competing with ourselves to do the best we can, but we all help each other through the experience. And yes!! Graduation is this week, I'm so excited it doesn't feel real yet

I live just 20ish minutes away from UC Berkeley so I'm looking into UC Berkeley to see if I'd like to apply and I think I will!

Hey Katie thanks for the video! Could you make a video talking about what to look for when it comes to housing? I’ve been looking for places up there but it’s been so stressful lol (I’ve seen several instances of people getting scammed)

Hi Kelly! I can do my best, but my housing search was very unique since I moved during the pandemic. My recommendation is to search craigslist using the "if it's too good to be true it probably is" strategy to avoid scams, and then join the "UC Berkeley Off-Campus Housing" facebook group to find students who are leaving their housing situation so you can see what is available immediately. You can also go through student housing, although it will be significantly more expensive, but there are also the Co-Ops would I would recommend looking at since they're an affordable option and have the benefit of built in community!

Thank you for the great video! I am transferring to Berkeley this fall from a CC. I am also a Anth major and have been looking into URAP and plan on reaching out to a few professors and applying to labs. Do you have any advice for me for when I reach out to the professors and fill out the applications? Thanks!!!!

I would recommend bringing up any specific experience you have related to the URAP project or any specific interest you have in the URAP project you're applying to in order to show the supervising professor what you interest is and how it might help you with your future academic or career goals! Other than that, I would highly recommend just being yourself!
As for reaching out to professors, I would send them an email asking if they might have time to chat during office hours - that way they can get to know you face to face!

I'm a community college student and one of my buddies is going to Berkeley next year. I'm likely going to be staying in community college for a couple of years, but I'm considering what schools I want to transfer to. I especially want a school where I'll get personal attention, as I have autism and other disabilities that impact my independent living and academic skills. Is Berkeley good with individualized attention despite being a big school? Keep in mind I can't afford private school as my family is kind of in the in-between space of being too rich for financial aid but too poor to comfortably pay off the expenses of private school tuition.

It definitely depends on your department and who your professors are. I would say it’s possible to get individual attention in any school in any program, as long as you’re reaching out for it and expressing your needs both to your professors and to your administrators so they can provide you with accessibility tools. I would recommend taking a look at Berkeley’s DSP accommodations and other small groups on campus to see what one-on-one services they provide. I personally know I can get individual help from the TSC people, but I personally found DSP accommodations hard to get
