    This song sounds like something an overworked and underappreciated mother would sing to her ungrateful child.

    I don't know about you but I have a feeling that this is the entrie Disney Company saying this to us about doing everything for us and we're sometimes ungrateful and hating on everything they make for us
    This is Disney way of saying "And this the thanks I get?!"

      They made the villain sing It. So is Disney the villain?

      I don't know about "catchy" it seems pretty generic. And the words don't flow well to sing along with either.

    This is the villain song??? This sounds like a Mom or Dad whose had enough of their kids whining the song. Wheres the intimidation? The bravado? The creeping Evil? I feel like this whole film is gonna be one terribly forced lesson of responsibility.

      The king grants wishes of the townsfolk, but he probably only grants the wishes that are most likely to benefit him, and he hoards the rest of the wishes. On the surface he appears benevolent and humble, but he is actually narcissistic and prideful
      Along comes something to threaten this king’s magical monopoly and the king is angry that someone is defying his rule, objecting to the way he runs things.
      “I grant the wishes of the people,(the wishes I want to grant) and allow you to live in my kingdom… and 2:12 “THIS IS THE THANKS I GET!?” I actually like this villain.

      @@alf513 i get the context of it but i just don't feel any intimidation form this villain. It's like Ken in Toy Story trying to be a villain it just doesn't sound believable.

      I completely agree. Everyone is praising this as a good villain song. It’s too cheery for my taste.

      @@personalspacedog what about the dark undertones throughout the song and at the end?

    • @decusq
      @decusq 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@alf513 yes we hear them but they don't sound intimidating at all, it sound slike someone who WANTS to be intimidating, Chris Pine does not sound intimidating even in song. His voice is way too pretty and soft to ever really be a villain. Villains PROJECT their voice, they sound menacing or angry. This is just Chris Pine wishing someone would take him seriously.

    I’ve commented on an explanation on the song’s hate before this and based on the few replies I got I feel like I didn’t make it clear enough to say that this song doesn’t deserve the hate it gets for its music choice. Although villainous songs are usually more intimidating and powerful, taking a turn on this one was just a creative choice. And if u compare Knowing What I Know Now with this song it gives a feeling of how manipulative the king really his and how nice he acts it like a foreshadow to the protagonist’s power song which in my opinion is interesting and creative. It’s like Disney is finally experimenting on different ideas bit by bit and ppl are hating on it

    This song has a lot of gaslighting. Mother Gothel vibes.
