Ooh, read The Tears of Artamon by Sarah Ash! Main character is a guy who finds out that one of his ancestors summoned a dragon-demon (called a Drakhaoul) to secure the throne to an icy land, and that subsequently each male heir (the main character) is possessed by this dragon-demon when he becomes King (Lord Drakhaon). It’s VERY VERY GOOD. It’s like Phantom of the Opera meets Wheel of Time meets Dracula. HUGE recommend.
It's so cool how well he's able to find books on his bookshelf. Makes it feel like he's a librarian who will be taking to someone and then beeline to the book that is going to absolutely change their lives. He'd definitely be smirking at them. I hate that I love that imagery.

So when dad died and protagonist was all like, REVENGE, it felt very forced and I didn't buy it. Plus, it gave me next to no dragons. And the worldbuilding didn't seem all that interesting.
