That's the proliferation of computers. They cannot generate soul or rhythm. It's the person controlling the vinyl or the keyboard or the controller that either makes some music or makes another programed dance track. And what is most often overlooked, the city and the party scene influence the output of music. It's not like a bunch of zombies found their way into a dark, abandoned warehouse and danced in a trance until the lights came on at 4am. Techno parties brought people together same as bowling leagues or car shows or TGI Friday's. People were "enlightened" in different ways because each dj had their unique style. Now days everything's so programmed. All the festivals are the same, the format is the same, dj'ing are all playing the same hot tracks from the same hot producers, just as all of the shopping mall are the same. There is no fine line between art and consumerism, between love of music and money.
Sub Club....fuck me i'm an Aussie n I remember partaying there in like 1991,use to have a tile mosaic of uncle sam I think....even remember being in the toilets n seeing some gut get shanked....

Thanks for this but please raise the volume of the interview. I can't hear anything Mills says unless I put my speaker's volume in the red zone.
Please normalize Jeff's voice and reupload the video. It's really stressing when the music kicks back in.
