Once for the demo then the next is the one take for final tracking and how he would polish and finalize it on the fly between the two. @@Hellion421 You DO know there are two versions of Almost Easy right?! They are SO close that I, an adamant hard core A7X fan can't REALLY tell the differences (maybe now I know the drum takes are different). The guys are not going to highlight and showcase something they know is false... They shared this with us BECAUSE of his ability to go in, kay it down and get out. In interviews Matt and Syn have talked about how Jimmy would routinely do the drums twice. Once for the demo then the next is the one take for final tracking and how he would polish and finalize it on the fly between the two.
He HAD to be a one take drummer for Sounding The Seventh Trumpet because that is all the studio time they had due to only having the $2,500.00 it took for the studio time. Dude was a phenom... MOST drummers only drum, many takes. Some, can't even write all the drum parts... let alone writing and composing at least half of their early stuff. Fucking Afterlife, he wrote that completely in a week where he disappeared, they knew not where he was, when he showed up to the studio, he gave the guys their parts and said lates do it. Dude was simply musically badass level...
Growing up as a kid i used to drum this song on expert drums on rockband and the fills in this song were so fun to play, and i see why now. he smiles after he does em
holy crap i was actually hoping to see how he played this like a raw vid or something. i thought it would be impossible but here it is.
thank you so much!
I could watch him play drums for hours. What a talented guy. ❤️❤️
I’m so glad I got to see them perform live when Jimmy was still with us. It devastated me to hear when he passed. he will be foREVer in our hearts. 🥺
Lily Garcia yeah
He makes it look Almost Easy....
I'll show myself out.
No, come back
No...come back again its almost easyyy
Miss him. So thankful we have things like this and the music so always keep his spirit alive. ❤
I came back to this video probably more than 50 times after it was uploaded. It's such an honor to see a master at work.
His yelp at the end too... "YEAH!" haha
One of those videos where I couldn’t stop watching. I was hooked from the beginning.
10 years since you left us, i'm just writing to somehow let you know that i still care, to me you're immortal. foREVer
I always loved James drumming, like for real.
Tyler MadWolf oh I thought you were joking until you said “like for real”
Never seen the whole drum clip I’ve scoured all of TH-cam and could find bits and pieces...and here it is
I can't like this video enough, this song is what got me into Jimmy's drumming for the first time, having those very messy parts but that ties perfectly together, definitely this guy was one of a kind
Still can’t believe he got this in ONE take. He was truly special 💙
Just a spoon full of Jimmy helps the whole world go down
Watching Jimmy one-take Almost Easy was absolutely mind-blowing, such a talented guy
Jimmy siempre será un grande y estará en nuestros corazones. #foREVer
This man was the biggest inspiration to me. He pushed me in ways to write music that wouldn't have made me the musician I am today. He was such a badass and a great composer. I miss him so much its ridiculous....
Wow 9 years felt like yesterday. Thanks Jimmy and a7x for being a huge part in my life. Rip rev
6:28 shadows: man!! how am I gonna sing on this one
The Rev be like spouting such genius gibberish and Matt be like 1:33.. lol
Haha that so funny! This was pretty much their only song that was in a different time signature(6/8)
come back to us its almost easy
It's actually kinda hard since he's so far away
Still missing you in 2020. RIP Rev.
RIP the Rev. Can't believe it's been 9 years already. What a joy to watch. So few musicians (especially in the DAW world today) can go in and nail something like that in one-take so flawlessly. What a true master at his art. He was also an unbelievably good song composer.
This is golden. I’m so happy they put the full clip up of him walking into the drum room, dilly-dallying around before the take, and he fucking CRUSHES it in “ONE TAKE LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER!” -Domination
I love you guys and your music. Keep up the great work guys! High highs help me through a lot with your music. Rip the rev. It's now been nine years since you passed and you will always be remembered and have a place in our hearts
This day...
RIP Jimmy the Rev Sullivan
A7X foREVer \-/
The rev isn't dead he's just in the forest and when he comes back he'll be the knife master #forREVer
And return with a bucket of grapes and be the master giant duck and kill who still his hotdog
Next year! 10 years
@@BelapsicoseBlogspotoficial THE REV SHALL BE REBORN AND WE SHALL LOVE HIM
It was one video... Jimmy was more than one video... Stop bringing that up. Ffs
@@shizukuspider6559 whats your problem
Ugh. My heart, thank you guys for uploading this.
A7x has been a big inspiration to me my whole life. I was only 6 years old when bat country came out and since that day it has always been my favorite song. The rev is the sole reason i began to play music. RIP
2:09 "Is this thing recording ? Ugh coooooool." *starts drumming* XD
6:05 I like how the Rev just drops his headphones like: that's it? Welp. That was ALMOST EASY.
Sorry not sorry
Satria avenged sevenfold avenged sevenfold alittle piece Of heaven
When I did my headphone drop it’s like a mic drop for me
he dont care about electronics at all..
edit : 6:24 he is scream front of Matt, and next day he was fired. The End :)
@@Stargaze. really?
James era una máquina!!
Jimmy el puto amo!!!
In English plz
I can sing through the whole song from listening only to his drumming, damn, Rev was a beast :( if only he's still here with us, RIP foREVer in our hearts
*walks in. Not in the mood. Does it one take. Rips headphones off. Walks out*
Phuking Jimmy. An absolute Legend!
He's still missed in late 2021
A7X, I love all of you

I’ve waited years to see if there was a full playthrough and I can say my year has been made from this alone
Such an animal. Just walks in, and knocks the whole thing out. Gets up and walks right out as if he has better things on his mind. RESPECT.
