I just visited the Revs grave in Huntington Beach. Truly amazing. I placed a white rose on his tombstone. Thank you for everything... you truly were an inspiration.. and some of the songs you wrote got me through my worse days. All a7x fans truly miss you and thank you Jimmy. 🥺❤️

As someone who was introduced to A7X after the rev`s passing, and who only really enjoyed maybe about half of the songs from each album upto nightmare, i was slightly sad when i learned about the rev`s passing, but i had never given much thought about his skills as a drummer, but this video has shown me that the guy was actually an incredible drummer, capable of arriving at the studio, and casually dropping an entire awesome drum fill in one take and with no warmup or redos... I genuinly feel like the rev has shown more skill in this song (or at the very least in his time with A7X) than certain more famous drummers (*cough* Lars Ulrich *cough*) in their entire careers. Rest in peace Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.
I'll always be the first person to shit on Lars, espessially these days, considering he's openly admitted to not practicing... But you're on some absolute bullshit if you think that he wasnt AT ONE TIME one of the best metal drummers in the game. Justice (and the tour supporting it) is excellence in technical metal drumming. Let's give credit where it IS due. Shitting on Lars is low-hanging fruit at this point.

I have been listening to avenged sevenfold since i'm 13 and now i'm 28 and still listening to them, and it still feels like it just happened when jimmy passed on. 9 years has passed and Jimmy aka The Rev will always still be dearly missed and remembered.
Oh god, thank you so much for this! As one of the many people who Jimmy somehow inspired, i was always looking for drumcam-like footage of him. I began playing drums mostly inspired by Jimmy, and at times im still amazed at how effortlessly he does those Jimmy-kind-of-things, like the double ride, or singing while playing, being Critical Acclaim or A Little Piece of Heaven prime examples of that, and watching this video now is like... damn... he is truly missed, for sure :( Once again, thanks a lot for this footage, it means so much foREVer

A7x has been a big inspiration to me my whole life. I was only 6 years old when bat country came out and since that day it has always been my favorite song. The rev is the sole reason i began to play music. RIP
This man was the biggest inspiration to me. He pushed me in ways to write music that wouldn't have made me the musician I am today. He was such a badass and a great composer. I miss him so much its ridiculous....

I can't help wonder how Avenged Sevenfold would be today if Jimmy hadn't passed away. It's strange, I don't think we'd have some of the incredible songs we have from The Stage, but how many other incredible songs would we have? Though I'm sure during writing they frequently think "what would Jimmy do here?" and I'm sure he'd be proud of what they've produced in the last 10 years. I was listening to their self-titeled album a few days ago, and then it hit me. I can't believe it's been 10 years since its release! ❤ Where had the time gone? Avenged Sevenfold got me though a lot of tough times in high school and it was devastating to hear the Rev pass away. I got to see them live on their Hail to the King tour in Las Vegas, and boy, it was so emotional and yet so amazingly fun. I swore my throat was bleeding I was screaming so much to their songs. Haha. I don't listened to them lot like I use too, but I will forever and always keep them in my heart. A7X will be with me till I die 🤘🏼🤘🏽

A7x has been a big inspiration to me my whole life. I was only 6 years old when bat country came out and since that day it has always been my favorite song. The rev is the sole reason i began to play music. RIP
This man was the biggest inspiration to me. He pushed me in ways to write music that wouldn't have made me the musician I am today. He was such a badass and a great composer. I miss him so much its ridiculous....
For all those asshats out there that say he wasn't that good or he was just an average drummer. They don't take into consideration that MOST drummers don't write and compose most of the bands music. Last point is, not many drummers can go lay down an entire track in ONE take (the first take usually) as Jimmy could. I am SO glad and thankful we have Brooks now but there was only ONE Reverend Tholomew Plague!!!! AKA Jimmy Owen sullivan...

sounding of the seventh trumpet album is one take only so what are they saying that jimmy is just an average person? they must know the whole story before they judge someone else.
Yeah! Many drummer does re-takes and if they would record the whole song in one take they prob wouldn't be able to do it the first take!
Plus doing it in the morning without even doing any rudiment drum warm ups, I can play this song without trouble(Maybe except or the double kick and ride fill) but certainly would not be able to record it in one take early in the morning with out warming up my feet and hands with a few rudiments
Well, that's definitely not *the* take for this song, but it's very close. Doubt it took many more than that!

I can't like this video enough, this song is what got me into Jimmy's drumming for the first time, having those very messy parts but that ties perfectly together, definitely this guy was one of a kind
RIP the Rev. Can't believe it's been 9 years already. What a joy to watch. So few musicians (especially in the DAW world today) can go in and nail something like that in one-take so flawlessly. What a true master at his art. He was also an unbelievably good song composer.
Hey everyone! I've always wanted to hear what Almost Easy would have sounded like had they gone with this particular drum take, so I took a drums only version of the song and comp'd it to try and match exactly what Jimmy plays in this video. Then I took a drumless version of the song and did my best to line it up with the drums I comp'd. The end result is like a studio drum playthrough by Jimmy!

I can't help wonder how Avenged Sevenfold would be today if Jimmy hadn't passed away. It's strange, I don't think we'd have some of the incredible songs we have from The Stage, but how many other incredible songs would we have? Though I'm sure during writing they frequently think "what would Jimmy do here?" and I'm sure he'd be proud of what they've produced in the last 10 years. Almost 10 years since Jimmy left us, holy fucking shit, that's insane.

I was listening to their self-titeled album a few days ago, and then it hit me. I can't believe it's been 10 years since its release! ❤ Where had the time gone? Avenged Sevenfold got me though a lot of tough times in high school and it was devastating to hear the Rev pass away. I got to see them live on their Hail to the King tour in Las Vegas, and boy, it was so emotional and yet so amazingly fun. I swore my throat was bleeding I was screaming so much to their songs. Haha. I don't listened to them lot like I use too, but I will forever and always keep them in my heart. A7X will be with me till I die 🤘🏼🤘🏽
