      @Cecilia Spencer @Cecilia Spencer it's quite a long way from the beach though so that shouldn't have been been a problem......... I really like the idea but not so much their execution of it.
      I'll give them an " A " for the view. The units feel claustrophobic. There's no provision for transportation from he bottom of the hill to their property and vice versa, considering the steep road they created, that leads to the property (It really is quite unnerving using the 2 access roads. I considered walking 😅) The finishing on the inside looks tacky, cheap and uncoordinated which clashes with the lovely exterior. No greenery whatsoever on the outside, is also a huge disappointment for me.

    I really have to commend Ghanaians and the country of Ghana as a whole, for all the progress and innovation especially in the sector of tourism. Kudos to you all.
    As a fellow Nigerian, it truly pains me from the bottom of my heart to see the huge loss in revenue and development opportunity that Nigeria is missing out on when it come to tourism. As beautiful Nigeria is and with all its tourism potentials, Nigeria is one place no foreigner wants to visit just to explore or for vacation. Even those in diaspora now are starting to wash their hands off Nigeria lately, and most would only visit if they have very strong family ties there. There is sadly a zero interest in business investment opportunity in Nigeria from those in diaspora, just because of all the insecurity and uncertainty going on in Nigeria. Its really such a shame...

I'm not Nigerian but im an African, and I do plan to visit Nigeria in the near future and love to invest there as well!! Lets educate our locals by having a conversation, especially the youth. ITS our duty to openly discuss the uncomfortable discussions. Nigerians are very intelligent, one of the most hard working Africans I know, lets out our energy to work together. Unfortunately the president is a proxy for the West. We cannot let Nigeria fail. This is what the West wants to happen. Lets not tribes and religion devide us, remember the colonizers implanted this from the beginning to break us apart for their own benefit. Lets free our mindset and work with each Afrikans, even though its not easy. Nothing good comes easy.

    I actually wrote my architecture thesis on the adaptive reuse of shipping containers in Lagos instead of them becoming an eyesore. It was more of a master plan but did incorporate a community center made with shipping containers and provided space for new construction with similar materials. I lived in a container hotel in Mexico for 3 months and it was great!

    • @UrennaE_Art
      @UrennaE_Art 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This project is great but they should ave looked into more case studies for layout for furnishing shipping containers. The room layouts do not seem quite efficient.

    • @lstcloud
      @lstcloud 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@UrennaE_Art That's because they're not efficient. A container is usually 8' wide, by 8.5' tall (9.5' for the ones known as a "high cube"), and the length varying from 10'-45'. The width part is the biggest issue though, since it's the shortest and the only one that's constant between all sized containers. The fact that it's constant means that any uniformity required to cut down on fabrication costs and complexity will be carried over into ALL construction of these dwellings. So even if somebody comes up with a design that utilizes a different sized container (as long as it's made to be 2 story), they're still going to use the same inefficient layout for the staircase. They may slide it more towards the front or the back of the container, but regardless it's still going to result in the mistake of having a remarkable amount of dead space both below and above the staircase, because that's how people will be used to constructing them. Kinda like how most cars are designed now: the technology has come a long way, but the same basic layout of engine at the front, 2-4 doors on the sides, seats all facing the same way - all this remains regardless of who the manufacturer is. There may be the occasional one-off design that changes things up a bit, but even the designers aren't going to look much into changing this, but that's the standard of how everybody does it, so that's what they're used.

    I have a two 20 feet containers that I bought 8 years ago in Lagos, to design my telecoms offices. I came up with the idea, when I discovered that the landlords keep increasing the rents, because telecoms businesses are high foot traffic businesses and they think you are making all the money in their properties...Ever since i came up with that idea, I have saved a lot and expanded...But sadly, containers in Nigeria are now super expensive and 1 unit of 20ft container now cost about *N1, 200, 000* and a fairly used, with several needs of repairs can go for as high as *N450, 000.* I thank God I still have my two 20ft containers...They are durable but you need constant Air-conditioning and also a heat extractor and good fans, in case the electricity is cut. Nice video.

      Its not its just dumb ask any good architect out there and he would say why its BS to use it. I always see some people giving container home as the concept in many competitions and innovation in architectural conventions and is always shot down by judges and many other experts in the field. There are lot of cons agreed there are pros too but on the long term its bad. Its infact cheaper to have a wood house than a container one.

    These are beautiful im impressed by the duplex and traditional stairway. The designers i hope consider murphy beds and fillted motorized retractable curtains making the interior even more appealing with lighter color interior choices
    Add 12 inch x 20inch rectangular windows 1 or 3 in a row to the darker enclosed areas of any floor at the higher corner walls withoit effecting container strength.

    Great video! Maybe they could have designed them around a courtyard area, instead of side to side… The interiors are great but in a tropical country you’re more interested in the outside space, greenery, hammocks etc. Am sure they’ll work on that next!

      @@TayoAinaFilms Ask Maya for the guy that took his drone pics when he went to Portharcourt I am not so sure of his youtube handle. PIXPECTIV or something like that. If I am to explain Portharcourt movement it won't be easy. Anyone who knows the old town/ Abuloma/ Ogingba well should be able to show you around. Calabar is another one that should be easier for you. Somewhere off watt market, I can't remember how it is called at the moment but their old teaching hospital, the famous Volvo market, their cemetery, and Anansa's beach are all downhill and have beaches around them.

    These are small compared to the many I have watched on TH-cam. Also very inconvenient to have walk outside go to the next room. They are beautiful but not well thought out for floor plan. Placement of the containers is key. I have seen some amazing large container homes using the same amount of containers

  • @tgbayesola

    I think container housing is only going to get better with the new generation of builders and architect.
    We just need to get on the right track as this is a good investment to help those who want to have a nice vacation time.
