@@wokkelz You can feather the clutch, shift down a one or two gears and then modulate the clutch lever to keep it from hopping the rear tyre (chatter). All the SBK guys used to do this, you can even try this on your own road bike.
SRAD’s are amazing value for money bikes.. a decent one can be picked up for so little, criminally undervalued I think. I have a blue/white ‘98 SRAD 750 with 15k miles in my collection and love the thing.. 😊👍🏼 Edit: Great series this though guys.. with 7 1990s sport bikes in my garage this type of content is brilliant 👏🏼🔥

I had an SRAD GSXR600- did zero below 10000rpm. Absolutely mad. Loved it
I ran my 98 SRAD 750 for 40,000 mile, did nearly 30 track days and 2 european tours of approx 4500 mile each. If my neck could take the look up riding position I'd own another in a heart beat. Nothing more satisfing than repeatedly outrunning blades and R1's session after session on track. They would ask what tuning I'd done, the answer was a simple power commander & 11% gearing shift, a little excessive on the road but for tracks only ever hit 6th on Hanger straight at Silverstone, any other track you hung on to those days high revs in 5th. Always used the best brake pads available, regular caliper service & a rear ride height spacer, result being many bigger newer bikes owners left scratching their heads asking questions in the pits as to how, I then made worse it for them when I explained I was braking early to prevent back wheel chatter on back shifts.
Great vid & bike. Had a 600 SRAD & K6 750 previously. Surely with no 1000, the return of the 600's, introduction of the new R9 & an imminent 120bhp 890cc Ducati V2, Suzuki MUST be thinking about updating the 750 for Europe? They'd be crazy not to but this is Suzuki we're talking about who literally take years to react.
Had a 99 srad 750 in red / black. Anything but that god awful common blue / white. I remember the motor being an absolute peach. Your wobbly clutch lever in slo-mo is comical.
Great series as you both get to ride all the new ones and to get your opinion on analogue bikes is great,, obviously the more modern refined comes through the evolution process,,☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland thankyou 👍👍👍
Really like this series. The 'srad' models last for 4 years not 3 - the 1996 WT model and the 1997 WV ( both carbed), the WW (first fuel injected model) and finally the 1999 WX. Never liked the term srad, it's a bit like saying I've got a gixxer 750 ..okay, but which one ?! The fuel injected bikes had more compliant suspension and were a better package, as good as the carbed bikes were.
Well done John and Bruce, I'm enjoying the racing icons that you're presenting for us. I almost bought a brand new '99 model GSXR 750 back in the day, but bought a new TL1000R instead, a bike that I wish I still had. The Michelin Power GP2's look like they're working well, can you tell us what pressures you were running ?
I feel the 750's are ideal for learning on the track while having fun, it pulls hard enough to lift the front up in first which the 600 srad wont, but it isn't going to flip like a 1000 if wot is held.
The chatter must be a Suzuki thing. I suffered with it as bad into park and Mansfield on my K5 750. I had to come off the brakes to settle the rear before I thought about turning in. I ended up finding a used sigma slipper clutch which totally eliminated the issue. It’s completely planted now regardless of how hard I brake. Great bikes.
Them brake calipers are 250 quid new from brembo, they aren't like the billet sbk brembos from the 90s. Personally I'd rather have the 4 pad brembos fitted to the early 999 and late rsv. Thats what ive fitted to my gsxr1000 k1 to replace the 6 pots over the 2 pad brembos.
You really can't compare SRAD with an SP-1. SP-1 came out along the next gen Suzuki which is the "Y" version. SRAD always competed with the RC-45 except maybe the last year of its racing life.
Use your left hand as a manual slipper clutch, simple fix for no cost
They're spoiled with riding all the new superbikes.
Can you explain this? When the wheel rotation is blocking pull in the clutch?

I reviewed the 750 SRAD a few weeks ago. My first time ever riding one and I was so surprised how rev happy it was. Great handling bike as well
Yup I remember the free revving motor being almost two stroke like on mine.

SRAD for the win! 🔥🔥🔥
I had a '96 in the bronze/gold colours, absolutely loved it
@@robw3655 when that colour scheme came out I wondered who buy such a monstrosity, now all these years later I love it 😍
I own a 1996 750 SRAD in the rare grey and purple yellow colour. It always turns heads. And it has more than enough power for the roads in the UK.
Nice colour scheme that
I still have my blue and white 96. Here in the US market Suzuki is still selling the GSX-R 750. As well as the YAMAHA R1.

Miss my SRAD 750

Still a very capable bike

K5 750 is a awesome bike
K4 600.the same. 750y before that and that was on rails. K4 chatter no matter what
more on bike footage thanks
Honda blackbird went from carbs to injection 😊
Nice one. Will remember that for the future! 👍
For this specific bike
Suspension and brakes are perhaps 90s SBK level.
Chassis and engine are stock.

I would love to hear your opinion about a 2004/5 zx-10r. Sadly it's never been a true racing icon or legend I guess.

Urgh! John, have you got a license for those legs?
