This theme feels and hits even more tragically with the announcement of Akira Toriyama’s passing. I honestly bursted into tears after hearing that he passed away. I can’t believe he left us! He had so much more to give! I can’t recall the amount of times I fell into dark moments in my school years only to turn to Dragon Ball Z for motivation. Even now, it still has a major influence in my life. I honestly feel like a part of me died with him. Honestly it doesn't even feel real to me. I had to sit and think about it for awhile. Dragon Ball Z is what made anime cool in the west! Had it not been for it, many of the anime that currently exist would have never happened. A lot of them took inspiration from it and created their own fictional worlds to tell their own stories. I'm sure there are so many forms of music, anime, and just entertainment in general around the world that probably wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for his work to inspire and influence so many people. So many Athletes, creators, and many more that were moved in some way, shape, or form by his works. It hurts to type all of this, real heavy knot in my stomach right now. The gravity of this is slowly setting in. I never really stopped to consider that Akira Toriyama was behind all of those moments and many more. There was so much emotional weight in that anime, and ultimately in that man. RIP to the Godfather of all manga writers and drawers. He was the goat manga creator of them all!!

Damn, when the electric guitar comes in at 0:24 it always sends a shiver down my spine. The scene itself is so heartbreaking, very rarely have I been that moved to tears by an anime and it's probably the only time I literally cried my eyes out the first time I saw it years ago. And I still cry everytime I see it even if I'm 32 :D It is so tragic, I'm sad for Gohan but I'm even sadder for poor little Trunks who must have felt like his whole heart and soul were torn to pieces forever in that moment.
I still can't believe they gave him less than 20 minutes of screentime, had made him one of the best written, saddest and well developed characters in the entire series There's a reason he's my favourite and I'm glad people start to realize what a badass future Gohan was The fact that the Kakarot DLC gave him a final stand worthy of his character just shows that the people behind it deeply cared about the characters and the franchise

Was a young lad who saw the Cell saga in Mexico and had no idea this special existed, only saw it 2 years later when I came to the US and saw it was on Toonami once and yeah it broke me too, it was the first time I was brought to tears from a story, the rage from the voice acting and just how tragic the image of him swelling up with power once it was too late just got to me.

That cute kid that rode the nimbus with his father in Z's original intro, face down in a puddle, murdered by a threat he stood no chance against. Imagine the heartbreak Chi-Chi had to go through, knowing that her son, Goku's gift to her, died alone, leaving everything to his pupil. Jesus Christ, man.

It fits with the BF soundtrack though, heck this AND Gohans battle theme when he fought the androids was used in Legacy of Goku 2...a great game that made the BF soundtrack work for it's gba soundfont...PERFECTLY!
Ok, I can relate to the outburst trunks had, i suddenly lost the one person who was like a father to me at 9 years old (around trunks age at the time) and I was filled with both sadness and anger like trunks, and this theme perfectly fits about that day, in fact this theme song subconsciously plays in my head whenever I remember that day

As a kid I cried when Gohan died. My mom felt HORRIBLE. Cause she rented the movie for me and I was so excited to watch it. I didn’t know anything really about it because I think the show was either just now explaining that or something. It’s been years. Watching everyone die and then Gohan’s death at the end got me lol. That kid was bawling his eyes out. That’s probably why one of my favorite episodes is when he goes back and just absolutely dominates the androids.
Man, a lot of time has passed, but I still love this theme, you can hear the sadness in it, somehow it remembers me of every time death took away someone important to me

I want to let you know that Bruce Faulconer didn't make this. It's called "Prelude" and it was made band called Slaughter.
It fits with the BF soundtrack though, heck this AND Gohans battle theme when he fought the androids was used in Legacy of Goku 2...a great game that made the BF soundtrack work for it's gba soundfont...PERFECTLY!

Ok, I can relate to the outburst trunks had, i suddenly lost the one person who was like a father to me at 9 years old (around trunks age at the time) and I was filled with both sadness and anger like trunks, and this theme perfectly fits about that day, in fact this theme song subconsciously plays in my head whenever I remember that day

As a kid I cried when Gohan died. My mom felt HORRIBLE. Cause she rented the movie for me and I was so excited to watch it. I didn’t know anything really about it because I think the show was either just now explaining that or something. It’s been years. Watching everyone die and then Gohan’s death at the end got me lol. That kid was bawling his eyes out.
That’s probably why one of my favorite episodes is when he goes back and just absolutely dominates the androids.
