  • It is a bold claim to say that you won’t believe something could actually exist, especially when it comes to something so familiar as monkeys, but we at the Fancy Banana like to challenge you - and ourselves - from time to time. So, we have assembled a motley crew of monkeys from the four corners of the earth - some of them are weird, some of them are even weirder…. But it’ll be up to you to decide if you think they actually exist.
    From monkeys with a penchant for a big old behind, to macaques who like nothing more than to warm up after snowball fight in a hot bath, here are 20 Strange Monkeys You Won’t Believe Actually Exist

    I’ve seen most of these monkeys in pictures and read about them. Was glad to learn about some other ones. I love learning about all of the animal kingdom. Animals are so fascinating.

    Awesome presentation. I'm so upset in the way how humans are destroying the earth much to the detriment of the poor animals with whom we are to share the earth 😡

      Nature is doing it to itself. We didn’t come out of nowhere. Look up the great oxygenation event. Sometimes nature just produces a new organism that causes catastrophic changes to the rest of the biosphere.
      I’m not dismissing your concerns, I would like for us to pull back from destroying the environment as well. Just so you know it’s not unprecedented for the environment to essentially destroy itself from time to time

    I just have one quibble with you. During the segment where you show Gee’s Golden Langer you intercut with frames of prancing Gibbons, which are actually apes, a whole other species. Other than that it’s nice to be introduced to the incredible varieties of monkeys. Maybe it will create an interest in the public for conservation. I know the new world monkeys in South America as well as old world monkeys are not only under threat of deforestation but are ruthlessly poached and hunted for bush meat which is a billions of dollars market. So you could call it Eaten To Extinction.

    11:11 It not Gelada that translates as Beast Ape/Monkey, that's would be there would be there genus name of (Theropithecus), (Thero) = Beast and (Pithecus) = Ape or Monkey in modern translation, in ancient Greek (Pithecus) translated as trickster, referring to Simians basic behaviour, personally i prefer over the translation of meaning both Ape or Monkey, as they aren't the same. There scientific species name, often used as common name of Gelada, is derived from Portuguese, translation meaning cold, frosty, based on the high chilled altitude they live, so there scientific name (Theropithecus gelada), basic translation is Cold beast-Ape/Monkey (Trickster).

    A couple bought either Tamarins or Marmosets in Las Vegas thinking they would be great pets. It didn’t take long before their Stench to overwhelm the people home so they were soon rehoused to a sanctuary. Us dominant primates don’t seem to get it that non human primates make terrible pets. They bite, want to dominate, can’t be potty trained, demand constant attention, are territorial and most importantly they STINK!!!

  • @philipveerman7526
    @philipveerman7526 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some good bits of film and some good bits of text in there. If you covered the species in a sensible sequence (rather than a total hotch potch) it would make a lot more sense. You seem to think that all primates are monkeys. Not correct. And you fail to clarify the distinction between the New World (South American monkey family) and the African & Asian monkey family. In particular the nose form and the prehensile tail aspect. You mention this but it is disjoint and thus confusing. You also include gibbons in this, (like at 12:33 and 13:40 whilst describing Gee's Golden Langur!) Gibbons of course are not monkeys, they are apes! Likewise the Tarsier is a prosimian, not really a monkey. And having included the Tarsier, it would be equally valid or not valid to include any lemurs, which you don't. Beyond that and various other goofs, whatever gives you the idea that we won't believe that these animals exist?
