You should also mention the historical lifetime of these tanks. The IS-3 might’ve been made just after WWII, but many fought in the Yom Kippur war. Some IS-2s served as stationary artillery pieces and as mobile makeshift pillboxes until after the Soviet Union collapsed. Type 59s and 69s still see some service today by China, although many are only in reserve.
Similarly, lots of tanks that belong to x year, didn't actually really see service during that time. Take something like M60. It was technically adopted in 1959 but, realistically, any battles taking place in 1959 with American armor would see 98% M48s being deployed. It takes time for production to ramp up and for most units in an army to actually have the new tank to use in combat. So while the M60 was technically a tank from 1955, it wouldn't be the most common tank in service for quite some time until enough are produced to replace all M48s in service. In effect, the M60 would be a later vehicle than 1955, but proposed historic BRs wouldn't take this into account whatsoever. It's also during this ramp-up in production after adoption that many issues are uncovered in a design and revisions must be made as the first production units are put into use and put in the hands of the crews themselves. This happened with M48, prompting rapid adoption of M48A1, and a similar thing happens with most tanks entering service en masse.
The little ASU would be cool for historical accurate battles. And a bit of correction to the IS3 and a bit of fun Tank facts: The first IS3 was produced in May 1945. The first prototyps of the IS3, the Object 703 (Not the Wot BS), were finished at the End of 1944 and had an earlier version of the 122mm D25 and hat Flat frontal armor, with an simular angel to the later T44s, that was a bit thicker, but probely worse without the angel the production version has. And about the IS4, while it started development in 1943, the first real IS4 was produced in 1947. Durring development there were 6 prototypes, the Object 701, wich had is first test in late spring 1945. What i find funny, beccause if somthing would had gone wrong with Factory No.100 durring ww2, the IS4 might had been finished before the IS3.
@@XSpamDragonXSo..? Now this shows it should fight against Shermans, regular M26 Pershings, and M24 Chaffees instead (things US army had in 1947). How's it better for you?
@@Философ M24 would be fine at 4.3 right now, and entered service in '44, historical matchmaking would place it against Panther, Tiger, T-34-85, and IS-2, all tanks it can kill while flanking. It's a light tank, it should be scouting more than killing anyways. M26 Pershing is '45 and already sits at same BR as Tiger II P, so I don't really see a problem with Tigers and Panthers having to encounter them. M4A3E8 is already 5.7. You need to think about when they were introduced, not just cherry pick dates and conflicts with obviously obsolete vehicles. This is the ENTIRE problem with Sweden at low tier. They are mediocre 30s tanks that were given APDS a few years after WW2 to extend their service lives into the 60s. Why do they get an APDS round that wasn't issued until half the Swedish rank 1 tanks were out of service against vehicles from before the war started? Why don't any of the British or French cannons that got APDS post-war have them available at rank 1?
People say they want historical matchmaking until you have to go fight Panthers in a Locust. Also, I never get bored of the music slow-down when things are looking rough. It's a unique and fun way to express the situation and you do it so well.
I mean, the Locust isn't a brawler. It's a scout and inf support. You're comparing apples to oranges there. Though, I've knocked plenty of late war/cold war tanks with it by flank rushes and eaten their engines so it's about how you use it really
Thank you. Part of the fun is learning how to fight when outmatched. Problem is non-historic matchups and BRs ruins all immersion, so then you just default to holding w with a meta tank
@@conehed1138anachronism isn’t a problem in warthunder, or isn’t as big of a deal as people make it. Early heat slingers and early atgms were deliberately built with ending the kind of gameplay you people want. They were just built late because the only event happening at the time was the Korean War where t-34-85s and Pershing’s were literally fighting m48’s and t-54’s. the people who want historical matchmaking just lack the ability to adapt at all.
@@theliteralworst9416 I am plenty capable of adapting, after all, I play war thunder as it is currently, with ahistorical matchups and BRs. However it hurts my enjoyment of the game because it is immersion breaking to face tanks from mid to late 1950s in WWII era tanks. Of course HEAT, ATGM, and APDS equipped vehicles ended the era of the heavy tank, I am not disputing that. But 76 Jumbo, Super Pershing, IS 2, King Tiger etc. did not face those in combat. So I don't want to face those in game. Same logic applies to air RB. Korean war jets should not be facing WWII props.
Another controversial opinion: Not every vehicle should be in the game. Authencity and balance becomes a lot easier if you don’t have to fit every random prototype and vehicle not meant for armoured combat.
I was flanking around B actually lol I knew it was a risky route, and I got punished for it... This map doesn't have good flanking routes for light tanks, so you have to do it between the objects
@kittehgo but if the map doesn't have flanking routes? you have to manoeuvre through the middle. Sometimes when you see an opening you have to hold W and push, pray for the best. You're talking like I never flank.

People don't demand historic matchmaking because they care about authenticity, it's because they want to roleplay as Rommel and be impervious in late WWII heavy tanks and get 20 kills and zero deaths.

@@titan_tanker try facing tiger IIH with many 5.7 vehicles? There are many unbalanced matchups already in the game. Panzer IVc would have no problem with normal KV1. Historic matchmaking would be so cool, but Sweden just wouldn't work till like the 60s and Germany wouldn't exist between '45 and mid 50s. You could fix Germany with introducing the E-tanks to the tech tree and reintroducing the likes of Panther II and 10.5cm Tiger II but that would all be fantasy. And obviously tanks like the M22 would be somewhat useless. I am very much in favour of splitting WW2 tanks from Cold War tanks tho. I don't think Shermans or Tigers should face an IS6 for example. This could be achieved by a smaller a BR spawn in matchmaking for low- to mid-tier tho.
We think it would not work bc the ground modes we have are basically team death match with some capture points spread on the map. So we think tank on tank combat only. If historical matches are to be made, new maps, modes and mechanics should be created. Spawning with heavy armor and high pen should be based on strategy not just better tank stonks.
So? Not all factions need to be great, if their historical vehicles were trash compared to contemporaries, they should also be trash in the game. You don’t need to stick with the same faction at every BR, it’s okay that they peak at different points like they did historically.
@@fridrekr7510 no, you need balanced trees because people just wouldn't play the shit tanks then. Look at 10.0 Russia/USSR, they have an amazing lineup and you get matches with Russia/USSR on both sides quite regularly and that's even with solid tanks in other nations. Basically matchmaking wouldn't work because nobody would want to face the nation with that one amazing lineup or play the nation that has a very shitty lineup. War Thunder is still just a game and not a simulation, most scenarios you get in WT are unrealistic already so many tanks can't even be used in their expected roles.

That IS-2 kill was actually crazy. It has 94mm of armor on the turret at minimum and the round like 95mm pen at 10m. Cupola shot would probably have been the safest bet.
Thats why battles needs to be also historical accurate... historical accurate BR cannot work without this. instead of crying like " gnah gnah this isn't balanced"
Well, it's not our fault that Sweden decided to build late 30s tanks in the 1950s Historically match making could be done if they put effort into it. Something that they wont
could be done yeah, but wouldnt be viable, T80B would be sent to what is current 7.7 - 8.0 because it was introduced into service before Leopard 2 or Abrams (First ever abrams, the one with 105mm) so it would fight M60s and Leo 1s... you wouldnt want that, would be very quickly unbalanced

T34-85 was still used by some countries up until as recently as 2023. Maybe try using at top tier? Or you could take the 75 sherman and Stuart tanks at 5.7-6.7 to fight tigers and panther's maybe.
Here's what a typical 1945 US v Germany would look like if it were fully historical just for context: Germany gets one or two Tiger I or Tiger II supported by a bunch of Panzer IVs (mostly J's with a couple older models) and StuG III G's, a few Panthers, a few TDs like Hetzers and Jagdpanzer IVs or Panzer IV/70, a couple recon armored cars mostly being the 222 with maybe the occasional Puma if you're lucky, maybe the 222 would get scouting to make it at least somewhat viable, and like one SPAA at most with the best being the Wirbelwind or Ostwind as the Ostwind II and Zerstörer 45 were just projects and finally the occasional oddball like a Panzer III M or N, a Jagdtiger or if it was against the USSR maybe a German T-34. The US meanwhile gets Sherman spam both 75 and 76mm supported by some recon M24s or Greyhounds, some TDs most likely being M18s, available but rare SPAA as they weren't used much with the Luftwaffe being largely beaten so like one or two M16 or M19 and then sometimes one Pershing with again the occasional rare vehicle like a Calliope. Might not sound so bad until you realize that the game would just be dominated by the more powerful vehicles like the Tigers, Pershings or M18s while the mediums just try not to become their prey and can only fight each other. It's like when boats fight in battles with bluewater ships that can blow them away with one broadside, not impossible but kind of a shitty situation. The lack of AA would make CAS even worse also. And if course if you wanna be truly realistic, the US should get way more planes than Germany, German tanks would run out of fuel if they drive too much and be forced to carry like 50% ammo capacity at best and if you run out of either you MUST J out, heavy German vehicles would break down all the time and need repaired and US players could respawn their tanks for free after 5 mins thanks to the quick recovery and repair of knocked out tanks. In summary it would be a game for those that like their balls ground into a fine paste
That will only works if you take out the grind aspect from this game, nobody wants to take turns playing Tigers lol let alone playing support role (as we know there are only few who actually play SPAA), they would spam the hell out of the heavies and crush the US team at ease
In reality, the SAV would've actually been 7.7, its gun wasn't automatic in the sense of an autoloader, it was actually fully automatic, it was so expensive the swedes canned immediately. 6 rounds of 120mm in a second would hurt just about anything on the surface of the Earth.
bro the SAV fighting a maus could go one of 2 ways, either the sav whiffs every shot and the maus is unphased, or the sav gets a lucky shot that pens the maus and then it just fucking explodes so comidicly

Super heavy or late war tanks would be limited and cost a boatload of SP and common tanks also free. God help me if i remember if losing that would also hurt later in the campaign since i forgor if lost units in the division carried over
Spawncamping also got fixed in that mode trough moving spawns and lines of AI (dangerous as hell) AT guns would be in their spawn

the only atgms that ww2 tanks can see are the really early shitty ones that feel like an achivment to get a kill with... quit bitching becouse your out in the open tiger 2 got hit by something harder to use than a gun
@@KonstantyKiebasinski Okay tell me how many ATGMs and attack helicopters there were in 1945.
The Yugoslav Wars also saw a M36 Jackson modified with a new engine fighting T-54s.
Paraguay has M8 Greyhounds in service still as well.
M60 was standardized and put into production in 1959, not 1955.

The little ASU would be cool for historical accurate battles.
And a bit of correction to the IS3 and a bit of fun Tank facts:
The first IS3 was produced in May 1945.

Shermans and Tigers dont face any IS-6 except the Tiger II's which can make easy work of it
We think it would not work bc the ground modes we have are basically team death match with some capture points spread on the map.

1950's tanks going against M4A1 Shermans is a crazy thought.
T34-85 was still used by some countries up until as recently as 2023. Maybe try using at top tier? Or you could take the 75 sherman and Stuart tanks at 5.7-6.7 to fight tigers and panther's maybe.
I do good at 7.7 with the T-34-85.
Here's what a typical 1945 US v Germany would look like if it were fully historical just for context:
Germany gets one or two Tiger I or Tiger II supported by a bunch of Panzer IVs (mostly J's with a couple older models) and StuG III G's, a few Panthers, a few TDs like Hetzers and Jagdpanzer IVs or Panzer IV/70, a couple recon armored cars mostly being the 222 with maybe the occasional Puma if you're lucky, maybe the 222 would get scouting to make it at least somewhat viable, and like one SPAA at most with the best being the Wirbelwind or Ostwind as the Ostwind II and Zerstörer 45 were just projects and finally the occasional oddball like a Panzer III M or N, a Jagdtiger or if it was against the USSR maybe a German T-34.
Tigers and Pershings are easier to destroy than you think. If you give them a high spawn cost it can be balanced quite easily
