I still think the other most pay-to-win part of war thunder is crew skill. It's just that most content creators and vets are so used to having it maxed out that they forget how much of an advantage it is
he picked wrong tiers to test this - as for one, players at mid tier are quite good and also the fact that Jumbos now face mean Germany rounds which can frontally pen you. If Jumbo stayed at original BR it was (4.3 or 4.7 when it started), it would have been a different story. Dollar could have gone full 100lvl player and do this in full low tier where new players dwell. It would be hilarious.
I think another P2W feature that doesn't get brought up enough is the amount of crew per mission. I think without GE, you're limited to 5 crew. Whereas if you pay, you can get 10 crew (which means you can spawn in more than others). As someone who just plays casually without paying for anything, I've definitely lost games because me and my team just ran out of vehicles before the enemy, despite the kills being relatively even.
True, it reduces the amount of backups you use a lot as well since I tened to end up spawning AA twice to save on spawn points and with more crew you only really gotta worry about spawn point economy as much
I don´t think it is that much of a problem because you can do fine with 3 tanks 1 plane and 1 helicopter. And don´t forget about the fact that most lineups don´t have more than 3 or 4 tanks. PS: And it is better to have 3 tanks crew with lvl 50 than 5 crews with lvl 20.
If you regularly use whatever the battle pass store is called to get backups this isint really a problem. I'm f2p and have 150 backups so I just use them when I need but I have run out before lol
If you want another challenge, try using the real gunner's view -- the one where you often see the gun barrel, and the reticle is not perfectly aligned with the aiming point.
Some people say theyre OK since they can be obtained in the battlepass: even putting aside the grind to slowly get them there, bushes are inherently an unfair/unbalanced mechanic. Tanks are balanced around their survivability, and covering weakspots with bushes can make some tanks WAY more survivable, largely negating the factor that actually balances them. especially heavies like the Jumbo, T34, Kv-1s, etc. Means that even against skilled players, the time enemies lose trying to figure out where the weakspot is under all the visual clutter, and likely missing their shot, saves you in situatuons where you otherwise would have died. Not to mention how detrimental bushes are to newer players, who dont have weakspot memorized. But even when most people who use bushes are fully aware of how unfair bushes are, it doesnt stop them from doing it. No one who has used a fully bushed tank like a KV-1E has legitimately gone "yeah, this is OK"
Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but the bushes that used to be available in every 2nd warbond shop no longer show up there. Soooooo yeah thats fun.
They are still there I think, they are just much harder to get, requiring level 4 or 5 in warbond shop (lvl 50 or so in Batle pass) and costing more I think
Bushes are the P2W mechanic I hate the most in this game. Legit allows people to buy a whole new mechanic that isn't available for F2P plebs. And it's a very useful mechanic as well, the amount of times I've died after scanning a ridge just to find out one of the buhes was a tank is waaayy too many and every time frustrates the hell out of me.
I want to see a normal tech tree version of the U.S. M8 Greyhound in the U.S. Tech tree. Not the reserve one that was gifted to the Chinese tree. Players shouldn't have to buy this vehicle for the U.S. tree.! This is almost as bad as if every country got a Sherman except the U.S. I can't believe people will actually pay for a reserve vehicle. Is it some Collector BS? You can never own it. When this game goes away so does your vehicle.
Worst part about bushes is that when your playing a battle you are looking for tanks from their shape colour and shine. How are you supposed to spot a tank if it is literally a bush with no signs of a tank
@felixbui9818 but even then they obscure the unnatural form of the tank and so its harder to spot them. Especially without sights for example if you scan an area for general threats. In any case it makes it harder to distinguish the tanks.
I like how in the past you could easily just grind bushes through that one shop that uses green tickets, but after BP was added it became practically impossible to gain them without paying. Like, before the BP is got like at least ~5 bushes, but after BP update I didn't get a single bush
I got bishes after like 7 years of playing and they help a bit, hiding what tank you have to cover weak spots, and not get spotted while sniping. After your 1st or 2nd shot the report ruins the cover. To counter bushes though, they render differently than surrounding bushes, and most people use the ones that don't match the map. So they can make you stand out REALLY BAD if you are looking for snipers. I cant count the times, the palm tree on a snow map got me a free kill
Mine man... on land. The bug of where the mines "bob" in the ground and then sometimes do damage and sometimes don't would be good material for hilarious suffering.

Yeah, I've never spent a penny on the game but had some of the free GE, plus you could get some from wagers back in the day. It was just enough to get the two 6 packs of large and small bushes before they removed them.
Great video - I use bushes and get them from the battle pass events, there are boxes sometimes you can buy in the battle pass shop. Every little helps 🙂

The first time i fought Jumbo in my Tiger 1 tank,let's just say that i found out the hard,hard way of killing it frontally and died many times to it,embarassingly lmao. Mind you,this was when Ground RB is relatively new(2015-2016) where those fancy schmancy x-ray shell test in hangar were not a thing. Learn them weakspot in an old school way,being shot at many times. Can't wait to see your thoughts on the newest addition to Naval,USS Tennessee and IJN Amagi.
15:16 A textbook example of a German Main... failed his way upward. How can a German Main not reach that BR and not know how to kill a Jumbo is just.... boggling. Good video DOLLAR.
A few years ago i uploaded a rampage vid with the jumbo and shortly after it got bumped up in BR. The Maus got bumped up in BR shortly after that. Still waiting on the Pz.4G to be put at a more ideal BR, because it just seal clubs at low BR.
Remember when the CBT for war thunder ground forces came out and they sold these tank advanced packs which had an incredibly overpowered t-34 prototype at rank 1 with a BR of 2.0 and a german captured M4(A2) at rank 2 and br 3.0 in it? Good times, atleast for the people that bought them before they got moved up in rank and br.
Two ideas. First, rarely see U-SH 405 played, it's small but monster for 8.0. Second BT-42 we need of the small boy, but savanna hunting with the high pen round. Tiger cupola's, also hitting turret and getting overpressure through upper armor pure pleasure. Or one shotting Panthers from a side shot.
I recently bought the premium jumbo to help grind the us tree and it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in this game, full up tiers are quite painful with all the long 88’s and 122’s around though
while playing the jumbo and if you dont have bushes use jerry-cans to hide ur MG port as best you can, last time i cheked, the MG still had no collisions tho that might have changed...
Top tier is where the bushes shine, as usually one shot means all the difference, therefore you dont have time to shoot a Leo to destroy te bushes and then to get him.
once i was goofing around in my 2c and then i met an ennemy sherman, i was in a forest, he was near a group of building and their was a large patch of open ground between us, i couldn't cross to get him, and he saw me because of the tree i was more or less protected and i couldn't pen him, so i started to empty my ammo in his front armor to ping him so the allies could deal with me (spoiler: they didn't care). in desperation i tried to shoot hte weakspot, not thinking that i could pen even here at ~500m, and then i was the killcam, my best kill in this game
When Im fighting shermans in my tiger it doesnt matter if they have bushes or not. None of them angle their armor to me and its as simple as clicking in the middle and they become a zippo
You have 3 choices for tanks if you decide to use my suggestion! 1. 15cm sig bfl 2. Ho-ro 3. splfg whatever (15cm meatball) It has to be at the br where it can god mode! Gl
It kinda blows my mind that so many players know so little that they fall for the fake weak spot. Just a second of thought and you should remember EVERY SHERMAN TANK has the ball MG on the right side, left if you're facing it's front.

Oh that's my favourite vehicle from Chinese tech tree. One of the best vehicles in the game, actually. I love it😉 I already made a few video with that thing, and I'll do more in the future.
Every 2nd battlepass (at least in last 3 battlepasses, 2 of them offered that) you can buy random bush from warbound shop, and you get the warbound money by doing daily tasks and battlepass challenges without having to buy anything so i dont think bush is always p2w (i had to earn that by just playing) but if somebody can just buy 6-pack which i had to grind for several days and he can actually choose good ones not get one random, then ye, feels kinda unfair.

To be honest I have not so many problem with bushes, it's sad it's a payed addition but it could turn in a more customizable assets for tanks, like adding tracks to protect hull, camo net or so. But we should be able to unlock those just by playing and not by paying.

If you have the battlepass elephant helmet you can be even more op. Put a bush first and then the helmet on the transmission. Now it's covered twice.

Using the bushes with the fake helmet weak spot is the definition of chaotic evil.
Top tier is where the bushes shine, as usually one shot means all the difference, therefore you dont have time to shoot a Leo to destroy te bushes and then to get him.
once i was goofing around in my 2c and then i met an ennemy sherman, i was in a forest, he was near a group of building and their was a large patch of open ground between us, i couldn't cross to get him, and he saw me because of the tree i was more or less protected and i couldn't pen him, so i started to empty my ammo in his front armor to ping him so the allies could deal with me (spoiler: they didn't care). in desperation i tried to shoot hte weakspot, not thinking that i could pen even here at ~500m, and then i was the killcam, my best kill in this game
When Im fighting shermans in my tiger it doesnt matter if they have bushes or not. None of them angle their armor to me and its as simple as clicking in the middle and they become a zippo

Every 2nd battlepass (at least in last 3 battlepasses, 2 of them offered that) you can buy random bush from warbound shop, and you get the warbound money by doing daily tasks and battlepass challenges without having to buy anything so i dont think bush is always p2w (i had to earn that by just playing) but if somebody can just buy 6-pack which i had to grind for several days and he can actually choose good ones not get one random, then ye, feels kinda unfair.

To be honest I have not so many problem with bushes, it's sad it's a payed addition but it could turn in a more customizable assets for tanks, like adding tracks to protect hull, camo net or so. But we should be able to unlock those just by playing and not by paying.
