@@geopoliticaltrends @6millennium's point is not a "perspective"; Saudi royal family has no religious authority over Muslim society (deference shown to Saudi royal family has to do with their money and the power they buy with it). Islam doesn't have religious representatives of God (like the Catholic Church), there is a direct connection between the individual and God (interlocutors are not required and in fact are frowned upon). You're confusing Saudi "authority" over the religious sites of Makkah and Madina, with religious authority... Of course Saudi royals may be living under the delusion they have religious authority but it is not based on Islam tenets or philosophy and most (Sunni) Muslims don't believe in "God-approved" nobility and have very poor opinions of Saudi royalty

It's a frustrating misconception that Saudi Arabia was somehow created by the British, but this couldn't be further from the truth. The story of Saudi Arabia is one of determination, struggle, and a deep-seated desire to unify the Arabian Peninsula a struggle that began long before the British even showed up on the scene.
And in 1727, with the establishment of the First Saudi State under Imam Muhammad bin Saud, there was a clear goal to bring the Arabian Peninsula together and free it from Ottoman control ,whom were absolute savages taxing with no development or establishment of law. Over the years, we Saudis fought hard to gain control of our land. We took back the Hijaz multiple times, showing that our commitment to unification was not gonna stop . And let's not forget Najd it was never under foreign rule, standing as a stronghold of independence.
Now, when people talk about King Abdulaziz Al Saud, there's this mistaken idea that his success was mainly due to British support. But here's the thing King Abdulaziz was already well on his way to unifying the region before the British even knocked on his door. His efforts to bring the peninsula together were already in motion, and by the time the British took notice, he had made significant progress. The idea that the British were the key to his success is just not accurate.
In fact, if it weren’t for the British meddling in the region with their own interests in mind, Saudi Arabia could have expanded even more, possibly including areas like Jordan, Syria, and Iraq. The British had their geopolitical games to play, and their involvement often acted as a brake on Saudi expansion. So, to say that the British ‘created’ Saudi Arabia is not only wrong, but it also completely ignores the real story of a nation fighting for its own unity and independence and frankly quite prejudice.
The reality is, the formation of Saudi Arabia was driven by the resilience and determination of the People of Arabia themselves. It was about reclaiming their land, unifying it, and keeping it out of foreign hands. That’s the real story here, not some narrative of British intervention.

When Anwar Sadat neutralized Egypt, it suddenly made Israel much stronger, because Israel no longer had to worry about the Israel/Egypt border. This made Israel much more able to launch these viscious military attacks on such countries as Lebanon and Syria. Now you know why Anwar Sadat was assassinated.

Mohamed Morsi also called to march to Al Aqsa and we all know what happened to him.

Saudi Arabia has always been a strong supporter of the Palestinian cause, standing firm since 1948. We've provided billions in financial aid, supported Palestinian refugees, and led peace initiatives like the Arab Peace Initiative in 2002. Meanwhile, others like the UAE, Turkey, Egypt, and Morocco have normalized relations with Israel and somehow get a pass.
Saudi Arabia could have easily normalized relations with Israel for economic or political gain, like others have done. But we chose not to. Why? Because we're committed to justice and the sovereignty of the Palestinian people. The truth is, Saudi Arabia stands with the Palestinians and always will.

Hello Dr. O, I am Canadian and I engage post-colonial scholarship through language and curriculum. We are still a settler colonial state that has manipulated the world into believing we are peace-loving culture that is a leader of human rights. The lens of Canadians who are in elected and policy positions is settler colonial, so unfortunately, the construct of Canada as a settle colonial state identifies with the settler colonial Israelis. That is not to say that there is not a counter movement, and there is, however we are presented as terroristic, communist, and ant-semitic through mainstream voices. I am almost 60 years old, and I am past the point of anger and frustration with my country. I do not fear retaliation in my workplace or community. Canada is a hypocrite because we inflicted more than a century of genocide - physically and culturally - to wipe out the Indigenous peoples to steal this land. And we continue policies of harm. Finally, my prime minister's chief fundraiser is an exposed puppet for Israel that defrauded Canada and taxpayers to channel money to Israel as documented in the Panama Papers. That person has not been charged or compelled to pay their defrauded taxes. So, this may help enlighten you.

The Royal Family is a private family and decision making processes are very confidential. There also is Royal Council which interacts with the ruling family leaders. Speculating on their internal discussions is only speculation and should be viewed as such and not productive. I worked in Saudi with Saudi ARAMCO from 1973 to 1998. Sir, you are wrong about Muslims not questioning Islam. This is due to the fact that you don't know. Islam does not recognize kingship. Monarchy only started with the creation of Saudi Arabia in the 30s. There were no kingship in Islam prior to that.
Matter of fact, Islamic tradition predicted emergencev of kingship and how it will end. It doesn't speak favorable of it.
Please read the text from Islamic source. The prophet of Islam, Muhammad said
"The Prophethood will remain amongst you for as long as Allaah wills it to be. Then Allaah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be the khilaafah upon the Prophetic methodology. And it will last for as long as Allaah wills it to last. Then Allaah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be biting kingship, and it will remain for as long as Allaah wills it to remain. Then Allaah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be tyrannical (forceful) kingship and it will remain for as long as Allaah wills it to remain. Then He will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be a khilaafah upon the Prophetic methodology.
Then he (the Prophet) was silent.
So you can see kingship is mentioned in a negative way. They are not in the position with the Divine guidance from above contrary to what you said.

I'm old enough to remember King Faisal, of Saudi Arabia, he spearheaded the Arab oil embargo of 1973. Before the oil embargo, gas was cheap, here in America, and nobody even thought about gas as an expense, because gas at the pumps cost less than 35 cents per gallon. Then, after the oil embargo, there were long lines at the gas pumps, and gas prices shot up to $1.50 per gallon, if you could even find any gas. No one realized how valuable oil was, until the Arabs cut off oil to America. The oil embargo was supposed to just send a symbolic message, to let Americans know that the Arabs disapprove of America's blind support for Israeli aggression. About one year later, King Faisal was assassinated, by a relative who is suspected of being trained and/or brainwashed by the CIA.

Why are you generalising regarding all Muslims in the world with Saudi Muslims and how they behave towards a king, not all Muslim societies world over do not question the monarchy, especially when it comes to God says etc.
The fact is unquestioned acceptance of the words of the king or leader is not something unique to Muslims, I know of Democrats and Republicans who behave like that also, so what is your intention to paint Muslims as solely empty headed, in fact the very existence of channels like yours, is testament to blind following by most of the American citizens, same for most societies.

Gender Equality. A further option would be inclusive. All Princes and Princesses can succeed the King. Dr Oualaalou, you often highlight this on gender equality, education, jobs opportunities, drivers, and business owners. Perhaps, equal opportunities can begin in the Palace.

Why is the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman MBS sharing dark thoughts on his life? Did somebody threaten him in Riyadh? Worse still, did he dodge bullets before this speech? Or did MBS had reservations about the US security details? ( meaning the security details almost risked Trump's life, so the same may befall MBS?

When I read the Book "The Bin Ladens", Muhammad Bin Laden (Osama's Father) was the Minister of Interior to the King, and when the Kind was Dying he fled the Kingdom to avoid being killed as he knew historically when there is a transfer of Power the killings among family and loyalist begins. He knew He wanted to remain Neutral so he fled, and returned once things settles and the new King Respected his discussion and he retained his position.

It is so unfortunate when people cannot commit to a cause and stick by it; unless of course the cause has morphed into a 180 situation. The quest for power among these elite folks is nothing short of greed and avarice. I would rather coexist with others in peace at the expense of all this unnecessary pomp and pageantry; but then again who am I? A peace-loving and poor member of life's fraternity who is well aware that we are only here for a short time, why can't we just try to live with the rest of us?
