Huge Militarum player, it is a blast! It's a learning curve trying to remember what all your unit do, but when you get past that, you'll have a good time, my friend!
@@breadguytv I went with the Ork Kommandos! Just got done priming them and will start dry brushing tomorrow. Trying to get them as ready as I can for this weekend, my game store is running a huge kill team event
Just a little advice from personal experince as someone getting back to hobby after ten years off and also doing guard, pick a colour scheme thats easy to repeat (since you'll be painting a lot of units) and I'd hold off on more units till you finish the ones you've got, since guard can take a while to paint depending on the level of detail you want to include and you dont want a massive pile of grey shame or to burn yourself out. Id also say wait until the new release of kreig comes out. Another handy tip i found when it came to painting the combat patrol was do a test mini and maybe save the command squad till last since you'll have a good rhythm by then, anyways goodluck and have fun!
3 thing 1 . Happy to see you in the hobby , I my self has been in the hobby for 4 years and it’s the best hobby I’ve ever touched. 2. Kill team is the best to start with and yes the human drop troops are from the Astra militarum (my favourite army) 3. Welcome to the hobby of an empty wallet and I really hope to see you do more with it ! Good Luck 😊
You can keep the top of the sentinel to change it from an armoured to a scout sentinel. It doesn’t need gluing you can just put the little hat on and you then have options! Just so you know 😊
Welcome to the hobby. I love the Tau (Faction the bug guys in the hivestorm box come from) Since they are kinda like the Covenant from Halo. Re Rustoleum is great for a primer before the paints. I use the 2X flat and I recommend making sure it isn't too hot outside, below 85F/30C and run some cold water under the can for best results. Sentinel weapons can be pushfit. So don't glue them. Also if you glue the top bits of the sentinel top together, but not on the model itself, it can basically pushfit on for both armored or scout. Yes a Krieg refresh is coming early next year with the new codex. The current combat patrol is nice for cadians, but we will probably get a new Combat Patrol with Krieg units.
1) Mango 2) ur first model was way better than mine 3) they are indeed doing a major DeathKorps of Krieg launch for guard 4) Guard is one of the more expensive armies right now so prepare for that
good luck -------> I have been collecting since 1996 and still not done ( 10k points worth of just Imperial Guard ) Guard is one of most expensive factions if not the most if collecting everything Guard Guard has 5 major styles 1) "pure" Infantry 2) Artillery / WW1 style 3) Tank / Rommel and Kursk of WW2 4) Mech Infantry and 5) Balanced That's not counting "flyers" & "super heavy tanks" Basically you will have 5 to 6 Armies in 1 faction
sweet, i just started getting into the whole miniature thing as well, im waiting for the Starter set for killteam to release. Astra militarum is a really good pick.
I think you'll enjoy Kill Team. Current balance issues aside (there's 3 or 4 teams that will basically paste anything else), 3E is the most enjoyable edition of the game to date. Plays fast, you can knock out a game in 60-90 minutes once you're up to speed vs 3-4 hours for a 2000 point 40k game.
MANGO!!! Awesome man! The Imperial Guard were my first army when I got back into the hobby. The Guard will always be my true love but right when I got 2,000 points painted up these newer beautiful Cadian sculpts got announced 😅
If its available, i recomend getting a few base sets of other brands of paints, warpaints fanatics, pro acryl, and vallejo all have advantages and disadvantages relative to citidel, but mostly advantages
@@breadguytv fanatic paints should be good for starters, opacity is a huge thing, i have a purple from reaper paints with functionly zero coverage, amd many reds take multiple coats. You expect it for yellow, not red and purple
Best luck to both of us. I just started too but with hours heresy because i don't like Primaris. Bought AOD and Astartes Battlegroup. Have fun with your journey!
That terrain is a great step for your gaming. I'd suggest a second Cadian combat patrol as guard infantry are not it's strongest feature if you know what I mean 😮
I just recently got into 40K about a month and a half ago. Started with black templars and immediately switched focus to the Orks and love the whole mad max aesthetic. I have no desire to play at the moment just want to build and paint and maybe someday build a moc
@@breadguytvright now that’s my black Templars lol. I got the Orks to experiment and learn painting and then went down the lore and add the whole mad max theme which has such a neat aesthetic.
I just actually returned my Hivestorm... and I'm so happy I did. Have better homemade terrain. Dont need an overpriced rule book that expires. Not a competitive player, so a lot is just not needed. Have proxies for almost all equipment from making stuff over the years, lol. I can see it being a good box for certain people, though. The savings is almost 200$, and that was my grab and the 2 new teams... and they don't even look fun after reading the rules and watching batreps...
Been in and out since I was 10 or so I am now 33. I personally no longer support GW or buy their stuff any more but enjoy their models (mostly) I play OnePageRules now as I got sick of non stop major rule changes, updates and point changes insane prices and we have several years of very short editions of the game. But I hope you enjoy it and get alot out of it :-) I enjoy painting, printing models and playing from time to time. Oh yeah the paint you used for under coating is more than fine you do not need to use any special brand of anything if it works it works :-)
queue the speed paints! i have chaos boyos if you want more things to paints. and a bright white light will help massively with the painting also special word mango :D
Kill team is technically a different game, but it's actually a better starting point for the hobby than normal 40k. You only need one kill team to play (the death korp team is kind of an exception, you do need the second box) Tempestus aquilons are Astra militarum, the vespids are Tau The spray can is fine for priming/base coating Warning: tyranids are very much a horde army, but consider building and painting the termagants you already have because kill team can use them for it's single player option. There is absolutely nothing wrong with just building and painting the models, playing the game is optional.
Boarding Actions or 500 , 1,000 point games are the best way to start Kill team points and style are complete different . Kill team is just a boxing set up to buy your 40k squads for most people
@rodneygaul2227 I only brought it up because he straight up stated that he had a couple kill teams on hand alongside the hivestorm box which has two more teams, this year's base terrain set, and all the rules/tokens/equipment/mission deck for the game. Basically he already has everything to play kill team so why not give it a shot?
