I have witnessed my daughter decline when she told me that those people who inherited money don’t deserve it because they didn’t work for it. Spot on. My parents are CNN junkies and they think it's gospel truth. They are completely blinded and when I disagree with them they get angry and say I watch too much Fox. I actually watch very little Fox. I read articles and think for myself.

I've lost people I thought were my friends because they didn't agree with my opinions and cut me out of their lives. They all love CNN. It's kind of sad, but if my value as a person to someone hinges on if I watch CNN or not, I guess I didn't really lose much.

My father stopped watching CNN. After the DTs settled down, he regained function of his brain and was able to think clearly for the first time in years. He said it was like a fog lifting. A miracle!!

I have a cousin who just left his wife of over 30 years. He is a liberal, but for the most part pretty reasonable. His wife on the other hand, is a deranged left wing lunatic. One of my cousin's complaints about his wife was; "she does nothing but drink and watch CNN all day. She wakes up, turns on CNN, and sits in front of the TV, drinking and ranting about Trump all day long".
As I said, my cousin is also a liberal, but even he couldn't take that much CNN.

It's a good probabilistic model for making general predictions, but even after 3 semesters of it in college I never shook the feeling that it was based on some fundamentally false assumptions. I'm with Einstein on the god doesn't play dice bit. Puts me in a minority on that but I suspect we'll figure out who was right sometime in the next 500 years.
@@GrendalTheBeasty GTR has had many checks. As has QM but integrating them runs into basic assumption issues. I suspect the problem lies in both. Something fundamental is being missed. But it's been decades and many many people have worked on it. Hawking was of the opinion that not only does God play dice but that sometimes he throws them where they can't be seen :) Eventually someone will see what needs to be done. Then they will likely spend the rest of their life convincing everybody else...
@@Mythhammer I agree something fundamental is missing. That missing item makes it look like the universe is just playing dice. I find it hard to believe that's actually the case. QM has always seemed like the ptolemaic model of the universe to me. It might give accurate predictions, but it doesn't come anywhere close to explaining how it all really works. But this is based on a philosophical assumption that it is possible to fully understand the fundamental nature of the universe, which QM flatly rejects by forcing probability.

My aunt has a CNN addiction. She stayed in her house for nearly two years. Finally met us briefly outside with masks for Christmas and threatened not to because many of us went the natural route for immunity instead.

Tragically, my mother's remote batteries died with it on CNN, and she didn't realize it for three weeks. Her cats had to tell her. After I replaced the batteries and changed it to Animal Planet, she was excited to see how many new things were going on in the world, but she did ask me what happened to that nice governor and his son. It was awful.
The following month, one of cats stepped on the source button and she watched static for three weeks.

I have seen the best minds of my babyboomer generation destroyed by madness from watching CNN, and from reading the NYT.
That seems to be a common thread. The boomer generation still thinks CNN is news. It used to be, so I think many of them got comfortable with it and never thought to turn the channel when they went off the rails. Slowly but surely they accepted the alternate reality they were being fed as 'news'. Fear of anything and outrage at anything Trump are the primary themes they are being fed. My best antidote for them is always "so how did your life personally get worse under Trump?" Not one good answer. It was always 'well he's mean' or 'he's arrogant' or some other character assault. When you look at tangible evidence from today vs 4 years ago any rational person, if they are being honest, will tell you their lives are significantly worse now.
It's sad when it's meant to be satire but my parents fit this description almost exactly. They haven't let me see them in over 2 years because they're still terrified.

This is hard to talk about, but...my father is addicted to CNN and other corporate media. It's starting to effect our relationship, as his critical thinking skills have taken a steep decline. I remember in 2015 when he was a normal objective centrist. Now he won't take off his mask (the same unwashed mask he's owned for the past 2 years). He orders groceries online as to avoid other people, even though the grocery store is literally a 3 minute drive up the road. He still checks in with the government tracking system when he does rarely leave the house. He mocks me for saying that media has a heavy left wing slant and blatantly lie about almost everything, retorting with "What about Fox News!". He still brings up Trump in conversations that have nothing to do with him, as if the current bad things happening are all his fault. He even uses the phrase "The Big Lie" unironically. We used to get along great, but we cant have a discussion about anything without him praising Biden for the amazing job he's doing. Saying "Trust the science!", without actually following any of the actual science. It's really sad. Hopefully in time he'll get better, but the last six years have robbed him of a normal happy life, and every subsequent year it's getting less and less likely he'll beat this addiction. I can only ask people to please pray for him to beat this terrible affliction. Bless you Babylon Bee for the important community service you provide.

One of my favourite clips was the former governor who said he didn't have an opinion on a 'letter' that had been released by a legacy media outlet. He said 'I am not going to comment on an item from a news source I don't trust'. The cnn interviewer said 'we have a copy of the letter', and the guy replied 'It's the same problem." The look on the interviewer's face spoke volumes.
I remember when CNN was almost a news network, back in the 90s. They would show 2 minutes on a given subject repeated 328 times a day.
My favorite anchor was Bobbi Batista. Those beautiful eyes. She had no opinions, just the news.

Print out very simple graphs (with just one or 2 variables) that show a rise in gun crime after gun control is tightened (from US cities not overseas where culture is different).
Or one showing welfare dependencies over generations or similar.
Check with a friend what they see the graph saying first, then just leave it on your grandma's coffee table or somewhere she likes to pick up a book to read.

My stepbrother is a prime example of watching too much CNN. I haven't been able to visit my sisters house in over 2 years because of Covid and he wont let her have visitors. Last time I did see him, he used to constantly talk to himself when he walked around because of all the news he watched. It was actually kind of sad.

The problem with CNN is that it isn't genuine humour, the Bee is the real deal.
I remember back when I was in middle school, all students were forced to watch a mandatory episode of "CNN Student News" every single day. You know, instead of... wait, what's school for again? "Learning?" Gosh, sorry, it's really easy to forget these days.
They better never fire little Brian Stelter. For goodness sakes he provides so much comedy I especially love Mark Dices rendition of him. I couldn't bear to see it all go.

You all are the best. I certainly don't have a CNN addiction but I know people who do.
I would come home more often to see my Dad as COPD Stage 4 had started to take it's toll from 60 yes. of smoking. We would sit around watching Jeopardy, talk about Hockey, and how my brother and I had finally settled down into family life. Commercials were always an irritant to him and he would begin "channel surfing". CNN would eventually pop up, we would watch and he would just listen and shake his head. Remarked, " there isn't anything we could have spun in Southeast Asia that that would even remotely compared to what these guys do". As a military intelligence cryptographer in Vietnam, I think old Mike knew what he was talking about. He had a unique distain for CNN.
The more I watch CNN, the smoother my brain gets.
I encountered a parallel problem a few years ago when I was told that the Young Turks was a news site. I had always thought it was cringe comedy giving an over the top look at lefty lunacy.
Unfortunately People who watch CNN don’t watch the Bee. I’m sorry, but their situation is hopeless.

I worked at an airport where nothing but CNN was on the TVs from October 2019 to June 2021, I was able to get to a point where I was able to just block them out and not even see or know what gibberish was be said on them.
My loved one says "we can't manufacture things here in the U.S.", "Inflation, Afghanistan and Ukraine are all Trump's fault" and "there is no way to stop migrant caravans at the southern border." ... Also, "Trump pissed on those strippers in Russia that time."

We don’t watch ANY Cable News and turned off Legacy Media over two years ago. We turned off CNN during Desert Storm. While we are Conservatives, we have NEVER watched Fox. My friend called me looking for some Gardening supplies and by the time I finally hung up on him he was SCREAMING “turn off the Fox News!!!” He watches CNN all day every day and lives in constant FEAR. I feel really bad for he and his wife. That isn’t living. That’s dying angry.

Once I asked my older brother what CNN stood for. And he told me Fake News Central(or network can't remember) I didn't realize that's not what it stood for until 2 years later.

Yes unfortunately…. ;( my Granny has been a very active healthy woman on no medication in her mid 80’s. She then unfortunately accidentally ran herself over on Dec. 19th 2021 and then had to be taken in to a hospital. She then got Covid for the first time while in the hospital and her logic of thought/argument was :”Well my sickness would have been A LOT WORSE if I (Granny) was not vaccinated!’ We love her dearly and get hung up on when we try to talk about Fauci and………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
