- A very windy but enjoyable session spent at Castlethorpe on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from London Northwestern Railway, Avanti West Coast and freight from Freightliner, GBRF and DB Cargo UK.
Castlethorpe station was opened by the London and Northwestern Railway in 1882 for passenger traffic, although a year earlier in 1881 it was opened for freight traffic. The platforms are still in place to this day.
The goods facilities were withdrawn on 6th July 1964 and the station was fully closed on 6th September 1964.
The station platforms will remain in place but the village will never see a train calling there ever again, with the rate in which the surrounding villages are expanding there are some calls to rebuild the former station at Roade just north up the line.
For several years right up to the 1990s there was a small siding located just south of the main road bridge that was used for locos acting as Thunderbird engines.
My next rush hour film will be from Ashton on the West Coast Mainline.

Excellent railway video as always
Thank you kindly!
I really do love the class 66💙💪
They are great locomotives!
Thanks for the commentary. The blowing wind sucks.
The wind was horrid that day
Great rush hour film at Castlethorpe
Thanks very much!
Brilliant video, I really enjoyed watching. :)
Thanks very much!
Id love to live in one of those houses and see the trains speeding by
My idea of heaven for sure!
Awesome video as always buddy from Alan in Suffolk 😊
Thanks very much!
Could you consider going back to Cholsey please on the GWML. It's a track side location, and it looks good.
I will see what I can do :)
cool :)
Thanks very much :)
I know you're into your trains but did you see the final three rounds of the BTCC from Brands Hatch on ITV4 and did you enjoy it? You did mention on a premiere from Peterborough last year that you were into it along with the MotoGP, which has also seen an exciting championship battle truth be told!
I love watching the BTCC, I watch every race along with the support races. It was a tremendous year of racing, Silverstone was a little bit chaotic with the weather though
Think things would be much easier if they reopened station at castlethorpe any idea why they closed it down
Basically the station just wasn't get enough passenger usage and was costing too much money to keep in operation, however this day and age you could easily open up the station and treat it like Cheddington, with one train stopping every hour.
Where is this location near
smol village north of MK
I think it's somewhere between Northampton and Wolverton
Why does the department of Transport want to build a new railway station in Milton Keynes?
The only one I can think of is Bletchley High Level for the new East/West Rail route
Are most of the rush hour films WCML orientated because they're within a certain length from work for example?
That's precisely the reason!
hello tornado922 how ya mate cheers thanks?
I'm doing very well thanks, how are you?
The car's are all ford's buddy 😊
Yep :)
How about Wolverton
I'll get that done this year
Don't go on about clouds - that's Geoff Buys Cars prerogative! Due to the wind in that location, it was very diffcult to hear what you were saying, at times.
I'm trying to see what I can get done about the wind noise moving forward
