    I remember flying to Germany for my brother's wedding in 2010, we met him at the airport and whilst waiting for the luggage to come through I went for a bit of a wander around.... as I rounded one corner I started laughing to myself thinking look at that complete poser who thinks he's Kerry King.... I walk back to tell my brother who started laughing and agreed to come with me to take the piss out of the guy.... we rounded the corner together and looked stunned as the rest of Slayer were stood there as well 😳
    They were an awesome bunch of guys even down to my brother begging them to play at his wedding...Kerry was well up for doing so but Tom had to remind him that they were playing at Wacken the same day 🤘🏻🤘🏻
    They spent a good half hour chatting with us and having photos... Perfect start to a great wedding weekend 🖤🖤

      That is one of the coolest stories I have ever heard. Back in the day, I traveled all over the country bowling in tournaments with my buddies. We'd always come home through Cincinnati on Sunday nights and stop in a little rock bar called Never on Sundays. Well, we stopped in as usual one night coming home and there were exactly four people in the whole place...the guitarist on stage, the bartender, James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich. They stayed and drank with us (back when they drank...this was around 92-93), signed our hats, and were just really cool. They wanted to know more about us than we did them....we are both lucky for those types of memories...that doesn't happen to everyone.

    "Looks like a pot of sea urchins!" 😄(Love that sense of humor, Nick.)
    Dynamic, relentless drumming, choice guitar solo. But it was that haunting, vaguely Middle Eastern-sounding intro that really drew me in, and was a perfect match for the incredible visuals. Egypt's held a special place in my heart since I've been 10 years old, so it was amazing to see that authorities allowed the band to play inside one of the temples (!), and film around numerous iconic sites.

    Dave Lombardo, his time in Slayer was the salt in their music, they can hire a drummer to replace him but his genius prevailes on his signature drumming. To me the best thrash metal drummer!

      @@DaveWhoa I just saw the intro of the cover, amazing drummer for sure, no doubt, and respect! The guy can easily cover the song!
      My point is, that you can not duplicate fingerprints, just pay attention to the drum fills, same case with Eloy Casagrande, a great drummer, but his drum fills are not as great as Igor Cavalera in Sepultura. Great musicians like these ones are just unique in their craft, Dave Lombardo drum-printed Slayer!

    • @SJ-ty5rw
      @SJ-ty5rw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Lizard-of-Oz 100% agree . People also have to remember replicating their parts doesn't mean much . • @Lizard-of-Oz
      @Lizard-of-Oz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SJ-ty5rw Thank you! It is all true, and I am speaking in favor of Dave, by the way he was treated getting paid a very stupid salary, got treated as a "hired drummer" not as a founder of the band. His groove, his lethal style, his little details or accents in different songs that made him different from any ordinary drummer, made say what I just said. You see, Slayer it's done, Dave Lombardo still playing as in his prime, still brutal!!!

      I always love it when people who aren't into metal can appreciate the musicianship. My favourite metal drummer is Gar Samuelson, he was on a jazz fusion band before joining Megadeth, and his jazz roots definetly made his drumming groovy and catchy. I think he really shines in songs like Bad Omen, Killing Is My Business, Mechanix, These Boots, and My Last Words, although tbh he shines in all of his 16 songs with Megadeth, really hard to choose just a couple lol

The awesome part was they had 2 more of the bands that were on my bucket list with them. Testament was the opener. Followed by Behemoth, Lamb of God and Anthrax. Testament and Anthrax we're the other 2 on my bucket list. It was the 2nd greatest day of my life. The live stuff totally blows the studio released stuff away.

    Rosemary’s Baby is my favorite horror movie of all time, and just one of the best movies ever made in general (this coming from an expert horror movie fan/collector. The best part of Rosemary’s Baby is the absence of cheap jump scares: when it GETS scary, it just creeps up in you and you’ll never forget it. Great reaction as always. I love that you've done your research. It is indeed pronounced "Crow"-"Lee", like you said. The Abyss is the place between the realm of corporeal time/space being, and non-duality, and in the practice of Magick a place you have to go to "slay the ego" once and for all. Only then can you reach the undefiled Paradise of the Divine Realms. You have to leave the "you" behind, the duality, the idea of separation. In this same mode of thinking, the Ego is actually a reflection of the so called "Lord of This World" ie the Beast, and the Harlot upon which He rides (again dualistic concepts), and it needs to be slayed or conquered by the Sword of Wisdom and Love in the Abyss in order to reach those loftier Divine planes above. These are not really Aleister Crowley's concepts, as taught by his "religion" Thelema, but Gnostic and Kabbalistic ones, of which Crowley was an Adept. Older than time, imagine the Egg in the Womb, or the Ourobos serpent eating it's own tail. Impossible to put into words, since as soon as you "think" you are back below the Abyss again, struggling with dualistic and thus illusive concepts that are temporal, temporary, and finite.

It's difficult to believe that Nick is not married, & without kids; you have that "dad" quality going & vibe! Of course I never would have guessed that Ty & Nick are related. One of you is slightly more eye-candy-ish at first glance.😋Ryan, well... there's not enough space to word it all! 😉 He's a shy hunk of a specimen, it seems... unless it's an act... hmmmm! 😒 The shy part, not the hunk! 👍 Great viewing you guys again! ❤

Well it makes the video more poignant - knowing they shot this during an unknown time and place, Especially back then. We did not know how Desert Storm would turn out. The guitars and drums are always 🔥! A group of us went to Twilight Jazz by the Lake tonight. So transitioning genres... But i am always open minded.

  • @vovindequasahi
    @vovindequasahi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I agree, I think some of Slayer's solos come off just dissonant for the sake of it.... BUT! You know it is intentional! Perfection is imperfection. Here, Kerry King plays the Beast being all out insane and vicious, and then Jeff Hanneman is the Beauty taking over with the more harmonic scales then of course ending it off in insanity as well! Also the filmography of this entire performance right there next to the pyramids - with the angles and shots - is near perfection, and gives you chills! Makes you want to pick up a guitar and play, doesn't it?!

    Picture it: Ontario, Canada, early 90s. I'm in high school, and they hold a pep rally. Now, pep rallies at my school were a bit of a shitshow, school spirit was fairly non-existent, it was a school full of metalheads, they had to station a teacher at every exit to stop students from just bailing. So they pack us all in the gym, scraggly cheerleaders bop around a bit, there's a few announcements and stuff, then the very unpopular principal gets up to speak. Slowly it starts, a few kids in the middle... "Auschwitz, the meaning of pain, the way that I want you to die"... and it builds a few more kids, "Slow death, immense decay, showers that cleanse you of your life"... By the end of the first chorus, the entire school was singing Angel of Death, and we didn't stop until we had sung the whole song. It was the most united the student body had EVER been. All to piss off the principal. Hahaha!
