Amidst all the silly, and the controversial, and the spiritual, and the educational videos that show up in my feed, I'm always glad to find one of your unique renditions of Joplin.
This song is so fun to play!
This is one of my favourite rags!
Your rags are some of the most pleasant to listen to. When I’m in the mood for a rag, I always look for you.
Literally the first person I saw to credit Author Marshall as well as Scott Joplin.
Scott Joplin and Arthur Marshall make a great team.
such an upbeat fun piece. I will have to learn it for sure.
Excellent musical performance !
No wayyy that ending is fab!!! Your right, my left hand would be killing!
Love your rags. I feel the optimistic zeitgeist of the time.
Thanks for featuring it on your channel, Laurie!
True artist my deep respect
Everything this guy wrote was catchy as hell. Great job!! love it
holy **** i love ragtime so much
Your technique is inspiring and amazing, thank you for such an excellent performance.
Oh I love this one. I play it fairly well until the brief minor section. Thanks for reinvigorating my interest in re-learning these Joplin tunes!
Great piece, well done! Truly enjoyed it.Excellent musical performance!
this is one of my favorite joplins
Great piece, well done!! Truly enjoed it.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful composition of Joplin! Keep them coming!
Fantastic ! & thanks for your tutorials on various pieces they're a great help
You're going ham! Love it
Awesome!!😍
Wonderful music and performance!!! Thanks a lot!!!
My favorite. Great skill.
Another very well played Joplin tune, loved it, Don
You might be surprised that on many rags, the composer writes," NOTE: Do not play this piece fast. It is never right to play Ragtime fast". The tag line on Swipesy, however, reads, "Slow".
Well played! I really liked your performance. This has become one of my favourite Joplin pieces.
Joplin only wrote the third section, the rest was done by Arthur Marshall.
Edward M Still a good piece of rag tho~
JamesZ32100 true but stating the fact
Thanks a lot for this fantastic performance. I now know what my 3rd Joplin rag is going to be :) I watch your ragtime performances for reference when learning and/or practicing said Scott Joplin rags, very helpful
awesome job
i love that, bravo !
very nice playing !!
thanks for sharing this!!!
Nice job!
amazing!!! :D
Nice!
fire
Thank you
I thought I was good at playing this song until I saw this video. Wow.
Nice
What a wonderful, uplifting, blessing. Who said that hymns should be played as though they were funeral dirges??? Very nice arrangement, and very well played. Arlington, VA
GreatJob :DD
I count about 10 more Joplin rags I haven't done yet plus 3 or so redos. It also terrifies me of having no more to record. I guess I will always seek ways to make them "new and improved". For example, I did Swipesy three years ago but deleted it and replaced it with this better interpretation. I used to play it slower but now I like it faster.
This version is absolutely superb. The fourth part of the piece is both lilting and joyful in its pace and lightness, and at the same time it is as heavy and powerful as a brakeless freight train coming off a mountain. It is sublime.
Ahhh - what a nice break from the nail-biting, gut-wrenching election coverage! Thank you thank you thank you for this lovely piece. It's better than Prozac. I think I will just stay on your channel for awhile and chill out. :)
Hahahahahaha Just thinking the same thing in 2020. Your comment aged well!
How many hours did it take for you to learn, counting from when you first met the piece? I've just now began it. :)
Suddenly it sounds so familiar.
Peter: Where do I get the music for these? I would learn them if I had the music.
Have you ever gone and performed in any of the ragtime festivals around the country (West Coast, Sutter Creek, Scott Joplin, BBEJ&RTF, etc...)? I think you'd be a hit!
Ron O'Dell (keeper1st) actually proved this isn't a cakewalk. I think it was in some video called Tempos of Ragtime
Is this considered the easiest Joplin piece?
probably weeping willow or palm leaf rag.
PeopleCanFly23
of course not. this is not easy
Probably
This song was co-wrote.
This piece is a cakewalk...
Cory: you reaffirm my belief that Scott Joplin was America's best composer. Gershwin and Ellington made great contributions, but neither one has Joplin's inventiveness and grace.
Why so fast ?
Show
My previous comment was misdirected to this version of Swipesy. Sorry for the confusion. It should have been linked to the two ladies' playing "Since Jesus Came Into My Heart". Have no idea how this occurred???
I would love to play this, but I'm wondering if I'm tackling something beyond my level (I passed grade 3 (UK) as a teenager). What sort of level would you rate this piece at?
Not sure how much this helps.. I only did grade 3 as a teenager and have only played casually since.. and I'm able to play Swipesy. The left hand falls quite naturally; this and peacherine were the first two rags I learnt. Obviously not as well as this, and a tad slower, but definitely achievable I'd say. No harm in trying anyway, best of luck!
how long does into take you to learn any joplin piece??
Aurora Eredia as a beginner it took me 1 month for maple leaf rag and 2 for the entertainer
1:47 - 2:22
He added an extra section. It sounds a lot better played at this speed.
Great performance !!!
You are better than Richard Zimmermann.
Please have you the score for guitar ? Thanks
Better? But Dick's version is so good! How about "entirely different"?
You should play Stoptime Rag
Vlad Roman
He did
ok :D ebenfalls grüße :)
💖💕💕💕💕💕👍
Grusse auch ... mein Tastatur macht kein sharfes S :-(
This piece makes me think of "The Hobo", if you've ever seen that silent movie.
It's supposed to be slow! ;)
Do you ever go to public places that have a piano and play like this?
Excellent, but why the hurry, Cory?
I think you would really enjoy Liebestraum no. 3 by Franz Litz.
Complimenti !!! Fantastic !
YouSteTube - Sardina.TV
kannst du deutsch? :D
watch the right hand, this pianist is doing legato that must be staccato that is proper for rags
Fantastic performance . . I bet his left arm was aching a bit with all the striding . . ! And yes played a little too quickly maybe . .
Not bad performance but you play so fast. At the beginning of the partition Scott mentionned "slow" however that's a cool cover.
i didnt buy the ritardando at the end or the timing of 0:54 but otherwise cool
Did anyone notice the left wrist has a deformity? Must be a curse for playing beautiful historic music.
Too fast, where's the emotion?
THIS ISN'T A CAKE-WALK!! Study the sheet music, and you'll see what I mean
The second half seems to be tooooooooooo hard.
Wonderful, but perhaps played a little too fast.
Sr Riley Maybe... but I like it at this speed too.
Nah wrong mate, unlucky bad comment, educate yourself, grow up, ratioed
1 person has no taste.
Two people now
Three people now.
12 People now 😵
PLEASE, marry me! LOL I have a pretty good piano! NUTZ have a pretty good husband too!
