La Dessalinienne - Spc. Masterlie Metellus

As we bid farewell to February, we also mark the conclusion of Black History Month. On this last day, we are proud to shine our spotlight on Spc. Masterlie Metellus, a remarkable individual whose journey embodies resilience, talent, and service.
Originally hailing from Haiti, Spc. Metellus embarked on a new chapter by moving to the United States in 2017. In January 2021, she answered the call to serve her adopted nation and joined the Army, a testament to her dedication and commitment to making a difference.
In a significant milestone, Spc. Metellus attained her U.S. citizenship in 2023, a testament to her unwavering pursuit of the American dream and her embodiment of the values of unity and diversity.
Her primary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) is 92Y, where she serves as a Unit Supply Specialist, contributing her skills and expertise to the Army's mission readiness.
However, Spc. Metellus's contributions extend far beyond her military duties. She is a shining star in the Soldiers' Chorus, captivating audiences with her extraordinary voice and musical talents. Yet, her impact goes beyond the stage as she tirelessly raises funds to support those in need in her homeland of Haiti, embodying the spirit of compassion and selflessness.
Today, as we honor her journey and achievements, Spc. Metellus will grace us with her rendition of the Haitian national anthem, a poignant reminder of her roots and the rich tapestry of cultures that enrich our nation.
Let us salute Spc. Masterlie Metellus for her service, her artistry, and her unwavering dedication to making the world a better place.
