Vivaldi is probably my favourite. Couldn't tell you why. I feel comfortable when I hear his music. Not saying he is a slouch with his allegros, if you get my meaning. The violin solos in his "Summer" concerto!

I'm new to Vivaldi. Please correct me if I'm wrong, it seems many renditions of his work are too overplayed (and full of machismo) and maybe overly lofty too but these Concertos are so well controlled. Again, I mean no disrespect - is this true the Vivaldi character or hue of his music?
