It depends on what criteria you are using. But in terms of quality and an army that has fought tough wars and won, Zimbabwe ranks number 1. In terms of equipment and budget etc, Zim though well armed is behind other countries like SA, Egypt, Etc.

That said, it is still by far surpassed by the Rhodesian Army in professionalism. Its by far inferior to SA army in terms of modern weapons of war, by far inferior in term of its professional mandate which was compromised by the killing repression and oppression of innocent civilians. The moment arned forces get involved in civilan power and structures, it is no longer professional.

Standards of excellence were set for them by their founders the Rhodies. Basics, look at their barracks we left for them, training, food, uniforms, morale etc..... notbthe best.
