WOW!! THIS VIDEO brought back memories of when I would take my friend John Betzer trout fishing on the Rout River in Minnesota. Sadly, John passed away and I haven't been able to have this kind of fun again with a good friend. John was a WW-2 vet and had a long life too with a great family too. Once again thanks for this video and the memories of trout fishing with a good friend. Scott Bickford.
Dude you should write a book, I could watch this video in the background of daily life and enjoy your way with words and the simplicity in your voice when describing the things I love. A podcast would also be a great option for you, especially where you meet so many like minded people.
Great video. Got on the water for the first time in the Driftless late last month. Loved it. Looking forward to getting back out there in August. Loving this local content. Hope to see you make it up to the UP for some classic water.
You're getting better and better with your editing and narration and just plain ole gettin' out there and catching that driftless trout!! Please keep them coming! I'm about, at least, a 3 hr drive from "good" driftless trout water and your vids keep me inspired to make those trips. I keep telling my wife if we get up there while "he's" there and meet up with the kid, maybe we can make a scene for a couple holes and catch them yella belly munchers. lol, tight lines
Nice video. I need to toss more dries at Driftless trout. The rise forms look like the trout are taking emergers. When they are taking emergers I catch most of my fish swinging softhackles through the rising fish. It might be something you want to try sometime.
In the beginning of the hatch I would agree! But.. it is a slippery slope in a stream like this. With how many eyes were on us, that downstream approach could spook the pool fairly quick.
For filming purposes I really like the long handle. It allows for much easier control and a deep net bag can let the fish sit in safety while I mess with all my stuff. (the extra reach is really nice too)
@@FLYALLSZN What kind of net rig (net + holster) do you recommend for a hip pack? I imagine the longer handle doesn't bother you too much on the hike in with a back pack, but with a hip pack I tend to get a wedgie from the long handle if if stick the net it in the built in rod holder sleeve in the pack lol. If I let it dangle, it tends to get caught on bushes or branches. Plus, who likes a net slapping your leg every step? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you so much!! I wish I had a little more time to do a podcast! Maybe I will soon..
Man, your storytelling is so good. You really capture the magic of the moment
Thank you so much Ryan!
Love your videos!!! I fish the driftless all seasons and you can't beat it. You do a sweeeet job with your narrating. Lets goooooooooo!!!!
Thank you so much Barry!
There is truly no better time spent than on a Driftless spring creek. Glad to see you back where you belong.
Couldn’t agree more!
Your videos are top notch
God! That was beautiful! Thanks Mike and Beck! Tight lines!!
Hell yeah! Thanks Rob!!
Great video and great story telling!
awesome video fellers
Damn. I'm down here in Texas for work and that beautiful Driftless valley makes me homesick. Thanks for tiding me over until I get back home.
Get back soon! We are starting to move into those dog days!
I’m really glad to have found your channel !
Well hell yeah Deb! So glad you enjoy it
Right hand caster with a right hand reel is wild.
Outstanding. Special evening for sure . Excellent video, greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 atb Tony
Thank you so much!! It was absolutely amazing!
06:41 Congratulations from Japan!
What a great evening...keep em coming Mike!
Thank you so much Scott! Trust me.. we have a lot more coming!
Fabulous Driftless fishing Bro! Thanks!
It is really hard to get much better!
Love the casual Toppling Goliath endorsement!
A little beer helps the overall outing haha
This is my idea of perfection. Nothing like peace, solitude, fish, trickling water, ducks coming in for a water landing, and the occasional cow moo.
Couldn't agree more! True peace.
Those evening trout looked fantastic.
They were incredible Robert!

Thank you so much! UP redemption trip would be amazing!
Thanks Mike, More Fun in the Driftless.
The Driftless rocks right now!
Banger of a video. I haven't been out to the driftless yet this year, and it's making me look at my calendar
Get out whenever you can! The trout are always hungry
Really enjoyed this!
Thank you Daniel!
Hermosos paisajes muy buen video. Saludos desde chile patagonia
had to rewatch that zombie branch at 6:50 XD
Branches be creepin
Great video and fantastic storytelling. Thanks for posting. Curious to know what type of Caddis flies you were using and if you used any BWO flies?
Hard to remember the exact fly!

Thank you so much Scott!! I’m so glad you like these videos! (You can definitely see the progression which is fun)
Tight lines!

I have a lot of success (and fun!) casting and drifting a soft hackle in the Driftless. It’s also really pleasing to cast

Good stuff per usual
Thank you so much! It was a great night!
Enjoyed the video.
Thank you John!
Hey mike how do you like that longer handled net for these types of settings? Is it a pain to carry? I’m looking at getting something similar.
Man I hear you. I like a small net with a short handle in small water, but I’m could be convinced to upsize the net.
For filming purposes I really like the long handle. It allows for much easier control and a deep net bag can let the fish sit in safety while I mess with all my stuff. (the extra reach is really nice too)

New sub! Liked 😘😁✌️
Thank you!!
🙏
Have you ever fished the rush or kinnikinick river in wisconsin?
I have not! I’d love to one day
Could you share some places to fish in Iowa, Minnesota?
I looks like Whitewater or vermillion stream
Super fun
It was a great night!
